Glad to see you are still documenting your work, it will be invaluable when I make my own attempts ❤

Currently thinking about getting a 1910s accordion to learn repair/accordion on. These videos really show the amount of work needed and how to get it done. I wonder if I can do it myself...

Another clear video Rich, thanks. At the end there it looked like some of the reeds still had huge gaps. Was that just down to lighting? Also, are of the reeds the same, or did you number them when they came out so you know which position they go back in on the next video? 😂

Hi Rich, your videos are so helpful - thank you! Quick question...if I am removing and replacing one reed from a fairly new accordion, do you think I would need to re-wax, or would I possibly get away with just loosening the wax with a soldering iron, getting the old reed out, and then securing the new one with the soldering iron and perhaps a bit of paintbrush work? Many thanks once again and good luck with all current and future restorations.

      Hello Phil
I would probably carefully remove the reed - then very carefully cutting away any wax on the reed chamber and then rewax the reed in .

Hi! Are you mixing soap with the water in the ultrasonic cleaner for better cleaning, or is it to make it an alkaline solution to prevent rust ? Have you had any issue getting reeds in water that way, or is it really safe with soap and proper drying?

I add a few drops of washing up liquid
I thoroughly dry them with a hot hair dryer - it doesn't cause any issues

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner but was not very happy with it - maybe I should’ve left them in longer
