- I did some vintage book shopping this weekend and found a lot of great books. I love these old books so much, and enjoy having them in my collection.

What a great haul Gina! I just bought Daddy Long Legs at a used book sale but I'm on the hunt for Barchester Towers and more Miss Read books which are hard to find here.
All of Mary Stewarts are good but one of my favorites is Thornyhold. I have multiple copies of all hers because I love all the different covers.

Yay! You got some Gladys Tabers! She is one of my favorite authors. Her Stillmeadow books are the best. I have not read Harvest of Yesterdays, as I haven't been able to find a copy. Hope you enjoy her books as much as I have over the years.

It's Monday or Tuesday for me and it feels like a Tuesday. I love seeing those "vintage" covers with the faded green. What fun! Betty Smith's Maggie Now - What a find! I didn't think Smith's books are super easy to find though I came across one last week and didn't pick it up. Kicking myself now. 😊

Love your vintage book haul so much! The Mary Stewart books are aweeeeesome. Thornyhold is so cozy. I'll have to find This Rough Magic - what a great cover! The Georgette Heyer books are so fun! Love those little editions, especially the Dell. Look at that Angela Thirkell - whoa! The Daddy Long Legs book is really lovely. I've never seen that edition before :D We need to do a buddy read of the Miss Read Christmas book this year.
I have two other Betty Smith books, too, but not that one! Mine are "It Will Be Better Tomorrow" and "Joy in the Morning", as well as A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Yay, yay, yay for Gladys Taber!!!! Woooooo!

An amazing haul Gina - I love the vintage books you pick up! The Enid Blyton books take me back - I have some old fifties editions from when I was a child (not in the fifties 😂) and we used to mostly buy them second hand. Sadly they aren’t all in the best condition but I still can’t bear to part with them and I love the old artwork.
I love those sentimental books the best. Regardless of their condition they are so special! I don’t have many books from my childhood so I’m always jealous when I hear that.

I love Miss Read, her books are so cozy and relaxing and old fashioned.

Mary Stewart is great! The Moon-Spinners was made into a movie in the 60s starring Hayley Mills. Such a fun film! I haven't read the book yet though. And you definitely found so many treasures, wow.
OMG they _HAD_ that movie tie in paperback edition of Moon-Spinners and I didn't get it. I just couldn't justify buying 2 copies LOL.
That hardcover of Behold, Here's Poison!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Love it! I love all of these books actually! What a haul!

I recently found that hardback of This Rough Magic, but I love vintage paperbacks so I would have bought both, too.Those vintage paperbacks are awesome!! You find such great vintage books. 😍Thank you for sharing these. I could not stop smiling. I'm going to be on the lookout for some of these.
It was so much fun! I love those old paperbacks too! I just need to figure out now how to display them better. I've got everything all over the place. May be time for a bookshelf re-org!

I read Maggie Now this month and loved it so much! Not as good as A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but I absolutely love Smith's writing. I really love seeing your vintage book hauls!

Gina, have you ever heard of Agnes Sligh Turnbull? I’m not a collector except of books that I absolutely love. I’ve been looking for The Wedding Bargain by her for a long time. They are hard to come by and pricy on EBay. If you ever see one of hers, especially The Wedding Bargain, for $10 or under please please grab it and I’ll pay for it and shipping! The sequel “Many A Green Isle” (hmm I’m not sure it’s a sequel!) is also very good. I don’t care about the condition as long as it’s readable. You hit the jackpot and I would have bought the water stained ones too. Glenda

Your copy of Daddy Long Legs is so neat! That’s Janet Gaynor on the cover, so it must be a movie tie-in edition from the 1931 film.
Oh fun, I didn't realize that! I'll have to keep my eye out for the movie.
Thornyhold and Pilgrim’s Inn are two of my favorites. Great haul! I had all of the Taber books in various forms, but un-hauled them because I didn’t find myself reading them (I did enjoy what I read), and I needed the space. I am trying to not expand my collection space, so I have to cull frequently.
I know Laura, I'm definitely going to have to weed out a few books in order to fit these in. I've got some contemporary books that I don't think I'll mind getting rid of. I don't really have any space for more bookshelves!

Hello Gina, I'm new to your channel and catching up with all your vids which I am enjoying immensely. Do you have a dedicated video on Gladys Taber? Her writing style, themes, settings etc? I am typically a classics reader but this summer I am (still currently) reading Susan Branch and it seems like Taber would be a natural progression. But I would like to know more about her books before purchasing... I have to also check my library. Thank you for reading this. Beatrice.
Hi, welcome! I am so glad you are here. Honestly I don't have much experience yet with Gladys Taber- I also just recently 'discovered' her. I don't think you can go wrong with something like Still Cove Journal or Country Chronicle. So cozy!

You are taking me back with Mary Stewart! Do you remember the film of The Moonspinners with Hayley Mills? I have an old paperback of The Ivy Tree by Mary Stewart from my mom. That’s a great copy of Maggie-Now!
I never saw that movie but I'm going to have to hunt it down now! I was so excited to find another Betty Smith - I think she may end up being a new favorite.

You inspired me to buy a copy of Daddy Long Legs! I had never heard of the book but once I read the synopsis, I decided to buy it. It's in really good condition and has protective plastic on it. I have informally started collecting older books so this was really interesting to me! Do you find the majority of yours in person or online?
I prefer to buy them in person if possible, just so that I can see for myself the condition they are in (plus I just love book shopping!) But I have recently started buying some on-line through Abe Books and Thrift Books. Unfortunately I had a recent "sticker situation" that put me off on-line shopping a bit, so we'll see how that goes.
