hi august, I hope you're doing OK 🐞🐛 and that you are enjoying everything you're reading. I hope you know that regardless of whether you come back, your channel has provided so many ppl with a soft and cosy place. I still think about your reads when I see them at thrift stores and the quiet beauty of your vlogs. Wishing u the best, whatever that looks like 🍶⛲️🌷
I love the odd, quirky, often unknown titles you find. There's something extra special about searching book sales, thrift shops, anything that's not boasting the newest titles, and finding those paper treasures that speak just to you. (And not just books, but clothing, art, tea cups... love it.)
oh my goodness thank you so much!!!! I love to hear that you also love the underrated gems found in thrift shops and book sales! that makes me so happy! 😭🤍
I just watched her work ig (because I was asking myself the same) and she is doing good it seems. I miss the videos tho, she has a nice vibe and is cool to see someone who reads whatever and not trends
Hello August. I've been watching some of your older vlogs and I stumbled on this one. Library book sales really are the best, aren't they? The prices are insanely low, and that feeling you get when you find your own, personal treasure. I love it. I'm not sure if you're still filming your vlogs in the same location, but I just wanted to tell you that I love the painting to your right, the mushrooms and fungi. It is simply beautiful; I love the colors and the frame and matting. Keep up the great work, August. I very much appreciate you.
I’ve been catching up on your backlist of videos and i just want to say THANK YOU! I love your cozy vibes, and you’ve really inspired me / given me permission to love damaged books. I found myself snubbing books in little free libraries that had water damage or were otherwise imperfect, but watching your content helped free me of that bias. As a result I recently picked up a few books that were “crunchy”, and not only can i now appreciate their beauty, one of them has become an all time favorite read of mine that i may not have ever gotten to otherwise (Summer by Edith Wharton). You’ve done my own reading and book collecting habits so much good and so I wish the best for you in your own journey! Peace.
Welcome back! I love the books you found. Also, my dogs listened to every word your cat said! 😄 He's adorable and so loving. Thanks for sharing him with us.
I know you’re alive and well and busy with photography on IG and I’m so happy for you but you’re so missed here 🤧 I hope you’ll come back for cozy season, “cozy rosy” ❤😌🍂🍁🌾📚☕️
There's is only one perfect TH-cam channel in all the booktube community and that's your channel, August. Omg I'm sooooooo happy to have you back, your videos are truly the only ones I'm ALWAYS in the mood for cause they relax me a lot! Missed you and Winston a bunch 🤧♥️ welcome back
baaaahhhh Alice!!!! oh my gosh thank you so so much!!!!! words truly fall short to express my gratitude and how much your words mean to me!!!!! 🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭
Because if your channel a majority of my worst rated books on GoodReads have turned out to be some of my five star reads. I also will be living a lot more intentionally in 2023. With that being said, I plan on thrifting as many books as possible moving forward. Thank you for your amazing channel material. You are one of my favorite booktubers now! ❤
was so excited to see you had posted august! i've been a quite quiet follower for some time now but decided to be brave and finally leave a comment because this video made me genuinely so happy. i started watching your videos this spring (aka binge watching most of them when i was sick, so a belated thanks for the company lol) and love the atmosphere in your videos. :D btw i so wish there were library book sales where i lived because that seems like an immaculate time.
I missed your videos so much! I was so excited to see this pop up because they inspire me so much! It’s good that you are taking time for yourself and finding balance though. Balance is the key to life. Welcome back 💚 I read a short story collection recently called Awayland that I picked up at a Dollar Tree that was full of strange and beautiful stories. It reminded me of something you might like!
Ooh GK Chesterton is a trippy, excellent author. Sometimes too trippy for me, but you will probably love him. My father in law loves Manalive, and I forgot all about his recommendation. I'm going to pick it up now thanks to you reminding me!
Oh, I‘m so happy seeing you back on youtube! ♥️ had to binge watch your old videos to fill the void :D I hope you‘re doing okay and your fall was very vibey and cozy as well 🫶🏻
oh my gosh you are so sweet!!!! 😭🥹 I can’t express how much this means to me - thank you so much friend!!! I hope you had a wonderfully cozy fall as well 🤍🫶🏼
Love this. I always love going to thriftstores to find books (two of my local thriftstores have amazing deals so I am always adding books I have no room for). But I had never gotten books from a library sale before until my most recent haul. My local library does a dollar a bag sell, so I got a stack last time I was in. I got several books I am really excited for. The most interesting is Monster Diary by Nick Redfern which is about him going around the world searching for strange and sinister creatures. Not for everyone but I love that kind of thing. Great haul of books and I also enjoyed seeing what your dad got as well.📜✒️
I missed you so!!!! ☺️ So happy to see your video pop up!! Thank you, August!! Hope you’re able to keep your healthy boundaries and a happy head space!! Stay cozy, Friend!! ☕️📚💖
Yay, so happy to see your smiling face again 💜 Guest appearance of your dad was so exciting too! So many cool books and beautiful covers. I love your obscure book finds.
✒️Dandelion wine is my all-time fav book🧡 And if I have to read only one author till the end of the days, book gods, please, show me mercy and let it be Bradbury 😄 Byatt is exceptional. "Possession" landed up in the list of my favourite books of 2020 and I'm on 3/4 of "Still life". PS, loved seeing your dad! Waiting for the next pipe book-ish chat🙃
Yesss on that all-time fave!! At a very minimum I reread Dandelion Wine every August, Somewhere a Band is Playing every September, and October Country + Halloween Tree + Something Wicked... every October - Bradbury can write mood like no other and it wouldn't be end of summer or autumn without those reads for me anymore 🧡🧡🧡
Also, I'm an English teacher who has to torture poor students with mind-numbing joy-of-reading-destroying lit exams every July, so I actually start Bradbury season even a month earlier with Fahrenheit 451 on the final day of those exams when I need to remind myself what reading should actually be about 😅
hahahahahahaha oh my gosh this cracked me up! 🤣 I need to read more Bradbury, but wow just Dandelion Wine alone can keep me company all summer 🥹🤍 thank you for the love and support, friend!!!
So happy to see you on my subscription feed!! The Persephone Q book definitely got added to my tbr, and it sounds like you got lots of interesting things!! Hope your vacation was wonderful, and, since I'm seeing this on Thanksgiving, hope you have a wonderful turkey day as well! ✍️
I read Gingerbread last February and I'm excited to see what you think! It's so different from what I normally read that I personally didn't really know how to process it. ✒️
heyyy August, I was just notified when you heart-ed my comment. Just want to let u know that I haven't miss any of ur new uploads! 😍 It's so calming and it sets my mood for reading🪄🧡🍂
Yay excited to see you back! ❤ I’ve read Mrs Caliban by Rachel Ingalls and it’s top 10 of the year for me--very Shape of Water vibes. Interested to hear what you think of The End of Tragedy! Definitely an author I want to read more from
Your cute cut, Winston, right? He was demanding your attention all the time, he just made me laugh, i also have two cats. I want to tell you that since i saw the tour of little free lib. that you made, i decided to have one in my front house too in Uruguay 🇺🇾, so now is the first in my city and one of two or three in my country. Thanks August, you didn't know, but you share just a big idea! I also don't like social media either. Have fun in your vacations!
Virginia, I can’t even begin to express how amazing and emotional your comment made me!!! never in my wildest dreams could I have thought my little videos would inspire someone this much - you are truly amazing for making your own book box for your community, and it being the first one?! I am truly blown away!!! thank you so so so much for sharing this - I appreciate you beyond words!!! 🤍🤍🤍
I read The Fig Eater by Jody Sheilds and Rose and the Beast by Francesca Lia Block due to you. Loved both of them. When you read Fig Eater, was your brain going in a "Leland" direction? I know you're not really religious so just a heads up that G.K. Chesterton's writing goes in a religious direction often.
your comment about Leland made me laugh so hard!!! I love how two of my favorite worlds combine - literature and Twin Peaks!!! it’s been so long since I’ve read The Fig Eater, so I may have to revisit it with this context!!! 🤍 and thank you for the heads up about Manalive and Chesterton!
Hey August...Are you doing okay? I think about your videos constantly😢 I hope nothing serious happened. If I can help in any way, let me know, okay? ❤ stay safe
Hahaha, Winston talking was driving one of my cats nuts in this one 😸 She really badly wanted to find him 🧡 Also, so many of these books sounded so weird and interesting, hope we'll get to hear what you thought of them one day
Hi April :) I miss your uploads a lot, do you need any help with creating videos (it's not a business proposition, it's a friendly proposition). Let me know, I need a new hobby, we could figure something out :) much love!
