Great vid. I Who Have Never Known Men sounds really intriguing I’ll have to pick it up.
If you want another Le Carre and don’t mind jumping ahead Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is excellent.

Rosamunde Pilcher is one of my German mother’s favourite authors - when I grew up, I’d often find my mum reading one of her books in the garden. I’ve never read one myself though, and now you’ve made me want to check them out!

Yes, the covers definitely look like the kind of thing my Mum would read. I think I do like Mum's books at this point haha. It's been very good so far.

Yes, do go back and read The Curse of Chalion. It’s great. Coincidentally, I just started reading Bujold’s Shards of Honor today. Had a random urge to reread it.
The Small House at Allington was my first read this year. So good. My favorite was Johnny Eames in all of his glorious hobbledehoy-ness. Seemed to me that Trollope had a lot of fun writing his character.

@@MarinaK03 I for some reason have only read The Warrior's Apprentice in that series, maybe because shards is more standalone or something? Yes I love Johnny Eames too.

Hi Aaron, 👋🏽 I hear you in regards to TJR...I was on a TJR swing until Carrie Soto...I have not heard a positive review from a trusted source so I just stopped reading her work. My favorite TJR to date is the novella Evidence of the Affair. The Shell Seekers is a book I would like to read. I have also been meaning to read September and Winter Solstice, in their respective seasons.

I’m excited to read IWHNKM, and I almost read it a month or two ago as MJ’s Patreon was doing it as a buddy read and they all loved it, but I ran out of time. Thank you for saving me from reading Carrie Soto. 😂 I have Evelyn Hugo on my shelf still to get to; it’s been so hyped up I hope I still enjoy it. I loved Daisy Jones, but Malibu Rising was just ok.
Did you do audio for Murder Club? I’ve heard they get even better as the series goes on. It’s on my list 😄
I need to check out Rosamunde Pilcher too. The Shell Seeker, September and Winter Solstice all sound great. Honestly, all of her books sound right up my alley. I enjoyed the tag!

I have been listening to Thursday Murder Club on audio and they are fantastically done, unfortunately the third one has a different narrator though. Evelyn Hugo is much better than Carrie Soto, it has some terrible issues but it's not boring like Soto. I think you would like Pilcher, very scenic writing.

Ugh, Ive been hunting for the cover of "i who have never known men" that you have and cant find it so i haven't read it yet lol. i just came across a review that cracked me up though " This book really did not go as I had imagined it. By the title, one would think of women thriving alone but this book absolutely crushed me and my expectations, brutally. The author gives you morsels of hope, only to slowly let you down again.Definitely a book for the dystopian girlies."

I love Lois McMaster Bujold!!! She's quickly become one of my favorite fantasy writers. The Curse of Chalion is my favorite, I've already read it twice haha. (Listened to it actually, the audiobook is really good).
When you asked about Rosamund Pilcher I immediately thought of Gina 😅 I started her winter book a few Decembers ago but it was too melodramatic for my mood at the moment. I wouldn't be opposed to trying again.
I recently found out about the Mitfords in a non-book tube book video (their collection of letters), and I'm very curious to read more about them! the one you talked about sounds good! it might be a good one to read before their letters 🤓

@@marianamasbooks Hons and Rebels is a great intro to the Mitford's, they are all involved in such interesting historical times. I have a big collection of their letters but I haven't started it yet. I'm glad so many people like The Curse of Chalion I can't find a cheap second hand copy so I might just have to get a new one.
