Brim, Skirt or a Raft?? In Bambu Studio

Seems several people are getting confused to which is which.
So this is a little explanation into the difference between a raft, skirt and brim for 3D printing

Thank you very much for making this video! It is mind bogglingly difficult to find an explanation out there of what each does and how to get each one set up for a print job. And I use the skirt exactly as what you desribed, to test bed level as well as adhesion prior to a proper print.

Exactly what I needed. I printed out a worm gear previously, but the teeth were a tad distorted where it was touching the plate. Standing it on its end, however, wouldn't be stable. This made it print perfectly!

What are each used for? You said Brim is for tall objects with a small footprint, but didn't say what the others are for.

A raft is very similar in its uses as a brim. A skirt is a purge line, not used for adhesion

It’s more of a purge line. Bambu/orca does have this built in for crops the front- so not a lot. But is useful on printers such as Enders as you can use it to also manual tram the bed when the print starts

Purge and wipe in all angles, usually quite useful

how do you make rafts easier and smoother to take off?

I don’t believe it’s a option unfortunately- they def can leave “marks”
You can however (if you have a ams) use a interface for suports- which is a lot cleaner

Look into the air gap setting. I have adjusted it in other slicers, but I am not sure if there is an option for it in bambu Studio since I have not had much of a reason to do it in there yet.
