Ever lane is not sustainable. I would suggest everyone look a little deeper into their business practices.

      Hello!
About Everlane, I agree. They don't have any certification about there claims of beeing sustainable, they have a lot of pieces made from cotton but only a few are organic cotton; also some of the ex workers from the company exposed the unfair way that they were fired among other things about that topic.
I'll leave a few links that helped me realice this.
      Certification:
      th-cam.com/video/x47di-8jt8I/w-d-xo.html
      Overall:
      th-cam.com/video/xivXEnROGmM/w-d-xo.html
I really recomend her channel to learn more aout sustanability.

I used to be really against Everlane...and I know all the issues around their brand. So in general, I won't buy from them, however, recently I needed to replace my most worn t- shirt. I only purchase organic cotton. I have been searching for literally years. I did not find just the right one...in organic cotton. Mostly they weren't right for style etc. Because I know what I want. But, when it came down to it, my choice ( due to style and price point), was going to the mall, aka 'fast fashion' OR Everlane. So, I chose Everlane over 'fast fashion' and the t shirt I bought from Everlane was certified organic cotton. I don't agree with so many aspects of the business and brand...but I have eased up a bit on my ' dissing' Everlane Though I do disagree with the Everlane culture of buying new trendy ( yes, they really are so trendy) items, hauls and all the big volume stores, huge TH-cam marketing and I am still so upset / MAD that they still make all their sweaters with some PLASTIC ( aka synthetic materials) therefore won't buy them...but I do feel like IF a person actually 'needs' an item and they can't find it for a reasonable price from a sustainable brand, then they are a 'better' choice then fast fashion in my opinion. But definitely NOT my 'go to brand'. I will try every other truly sustainable brand I know of before Everlane.

Change your routines. Avoid spending triggers. Sit with your feelings. Many women shop when they are lonely, sad, excited, or bored. Avoid friends that encourage you to shop. Congrats on saving a ton of money! 😘👌🏽

My husband was one of those people buying coffee everyday before work. When you put it like that $1000 a year is insane!!! I make his to-go coffee and he’s gotten so use to the taste that he no longer buys them, he rathers my homemade coffee. Woohoo!!! More money in our pocket. 💗🙌🏼

I have been pretty good with money but I still need a lot of improvement. My tips
    -I don't shop on sales
-Every time I buy something I ask myself a few questions: Have I tried buying this item before and if I actually ended up using it? Is it worth the money? Do I actually need it?
-Saving account is a must, I put 30-50% of my salary on savings
-Stop chasing trends and luxurious items unless its an actually good purchase
    - Don't buy cheap shit ( still struggling)
    - Change your mentality
-If you cant stop your ''emotional'' shopping. Have a list of all the items you actually need. Like for example a new pan, or nice curtains you always wanted. Usually, we just need that satisfying feeling to fill our holes, so it can be done with any item.
-Learn how to dye your hair, do manicure/pedicure, waxing, and all that stuff at home. TH-cam is full of tutorials and everybody can be a pro.

Saving 30-50% of your income is intense though. Good for you if you can do it! I currently save about 20% of my income monthly, while living alone and having to pay mortgage etc.

    • @giedre8921
      @giedre8921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@mcwmulkens excatly. I don't have a mortgage yet, no children, and I live in a country were I probably get paid more than average (maybe my education helped too)plus my boyfriend gets paid well. It's not about how much you save its about discipline and doing it regularly. I think 20% is great! In Europe we don't have student loans.. I bought a pretty expensive car but only after saving for 2 years, i try to avoid loans if I can. But I know that one day I'm going to have children and home. So I'm preparing myself :)
P.s I live in Iceland, we get a support from our labour unions if we want to study while having a job. I haven't paid a penny for my 3 years uni. Only books and stuff we get money to go to the gym, we get all kinds of refunds for glasses, sportswear. But we pay huge taxes.. my boyfriend is Canadian, he always complains how expensive is this country, like very very expensive..

The one thing I dont agree with is not buying coffee out. I find it really nice going to cafes and meeting friends or my mothers group and enjoying a coffee. At the moment I'm on maternity leave and I find it a cheap outing. Particularly because in the pandemic we weren't allowed to have people in our homes.
Also it's very important to support small businesses!
Its definitly about balance, a few coffees a week wont blow the budget. I think you've given lots of other great advice. I'm just sick of hearing about the latte factor

I like to support the small businesses in my city (Seattle) instead of Starbucks, that are really cool and vintage I do it every now and then but I do love making my coffee from home I genuinely enjoy it I really don’t think it’s a big deal if you don’t do it every day as part of your routine and it is something that u find enjoyable and worth your time & money Like u said, it can be really great to get outside for your mental health and meet up with family/ friends

Those who mind don´t matter, and those who matter don´t mind. The real friends will make time do to something that´s free. Meet up, drink at your/their apartment, watch a movie, go for a walk and all the other free or low budget things. The ones that you lose now, aren´t friends they are only acquaintances. I know this is very honest but I mean it with the best intention

@Sarah Peterson hit the nail on the head with this one 🥰🤍
@Jenna Manson i definitely went through the same thing, I started to say no to my friends that wanted to go out to the bars all the time because I didn’t enjoy partying and drinking. Many of them understood why and we still found other ways to hangout, whether it was going and grabbing a coffee or hanging out at someone’s apartment. Just like what Sarah said, those that care for you will try to understand and make it work and one thing that really helps nurture my friendships is being the one who initiates that hangout and makes the plans 🥰
