This is a beautiful car, well planned, practical, awesome sound, insane performance and most importantly -> it is affordable, with 80k you get a fully specced Lotus Emira that will give you a lot of good times and fun memories. This is the future for car manufacturers, instead of focusing on one-off super-expensive cars, they should focus on providing the common people who have average pay/income with affordable cars that are top quality in every way. Well done Lotus!
It’s by far the best looking sports car on the market at that price just wish I had 60k spare, like you said it’s not the most powerful in its range but unless you want to drive it on a track it’s powerful enough love it.
It’s a great looking car for the price ($85K). I would get the Emira over Cayman, Jag, and Corvette C8. Even though the Emira isn’t as powerful, but love the look. Too bad Lotus is not taking deposits in the US yet.
Not sure what their plans are for the US, a lot is changing at Lotus, but in all honesty I'd be surprised if they come to the US with the Emira, a lot of competition. Corvette being the main problem. Personally I hate the way the new Corvette looks though, I'm sure it's it's a great car but just looks weird from every angle. Loved the C7.
@@motorshedsteve Lotus is going to the US... and they take deposits at Lotus dealerships according to a friend of mine, but they have very limited slots for the US market in the first year of release
Saw this on a LotusTalk forum "North America will receive about 570 Emira in 2022 (short year since we won't see the car until mid-year), then we expect to see approximately 1,600 Emira in 2023"
Indeed, I didn't catch the lotus on track on camera, must have been too fast, so spliced in a similar car. Turns out you guys are too eagle eyed though, will have to rethink for future videos. The car at 2.21 isn't a 540c either, it's a 570 😆. I have to work with what footage I have. They are similar cars anyway in appearance, so nobody had clicked on yet.
@@motorshedsteve It's definitely a MC20, you can very briefly see the trident in the front grill. These mid engined super cars are all looking very samey.
This is the car that I wish Ferrari and Lamborghini would make. Creating an entry level sports car to compete with some of the higher end vehicles in the sub-100K price range like the Corvette and Porshce Cayman would be refreshing in an industry where all these cars care about is 0-60s. Now I know many of you are going to raise the argument that by creating an affordable Lamborghini or Ferrari would dilute the brands image, but in a world where vehicles are converting to electric power trains as well as lower end sports cars becoming almost as quick, Ferrari and Lamborghini really need to focus on expanding their model ranges. The reason for this is that I would never buy an electric Ferrari or Lamborghini because I could just buy a Tesla for half the price and smoke these cars.
More than likely yes, there's definitely a market for spider, especially at that price, low end supercars tend to sell quite a lot without a roof. I know from listening to their boss that they have A LOT planned in the near future but they are keeping their cards close to their chest. There will be several mainstream electric models coming by the sound of it.
First of all it’s a sports car not a supercar. Second of all it will go for over 85K Euro in most European countries despite what they said. So it’s reasonably priced, far from a bargain with this small and okay design.
It’s certifiably an exotic, and arguably a supercar. It’s size and proportions are similar to the Ferrari F430, and its speed will like be under 4.0 seconds 0-60. And future versions will get quicker and quicker. I’d call it the cheapest, entry-level supercar.
Like we need to split hairs about where supercar starts and sports car ends. Fully aware its defined as a sports car. (Affordable sports car wouldn't have had as much impact as a title) 20 years ago though that would have been a full on supercar anyway, and there still isn't a black and white definition. To any lay man it also looks like a supercar, more so than any other sports car on the market, so I felt the title was justified. Whichever way you cut it it's a great value car and will do well, I've already had many people tell me they've put deposits down.
Ha, they don't have time to clean them due to the track schedule, the supercars had only just got back from being on track, very few of the cars exhibited at FoS are garage queens, they are all driven up the hill climb enthusiastically. The Emira had got a bit sideways and on to the grass before it went on the stand 😆
@@tyjakkty8668lol, no you were right it is on display, but the car on display there is replaced every 30 minutes or so, there was an Aston Martin Valkyrie sat there a few seconds before the Emira rolled on. That was also filthy 😆

Who needs a house anyway! Everyone knows that living in a caravan is the way to go these days. You can tow it with your Emira 🤣
