Mike K I don't think you realize that non factory farms care for their animals and don't torture them. Have you even seen videos of people torturing the dogs because they actually believe it makes it taste better ? It's horrific. Go to an actual small company farm and see how differently those pigs are treated compared to factory farm "exposed" videos.... they're fine and are treated nothing like those dogs.

I'm Taiwanese (Chinese), and I have to say eating dogs and cats is not our culture.
There's a time-honored idiom: "Caught the rabbit, boiled the dog". Which means ungrateful treachery. Dogs are highly valued even in ancient times.
Dog meat originated from poverty. People had to eat whatever that moves to survive. Years later they got used to it, so it's become a "habit". However, it's never acceptable to most of the Asians.
Those who eat dogs don't know how wonderful dogs are, for they are told since childhood that these furry friends are food. 😢 It takes time and generations to stop this "ungrateful treachery".
Ro Blox I'm living in cambodia and it's rife I have rehoused several street dogs but I have one that won't leave I tried to rehouse it but it growls at them she's very protective she was a litter of 8 born in a storm drain but only 4 survived she follows me everywhere my little security she's is getting more social but think she's staying with me now.

As much as people like to pretend they are, they're not the same as dogs and cats. They should still be saved from horrible conditions (like these dogs were) when possible, but fact is some animals are food sources for people 🤷♀️And it is much more expensive and requires a huge amount of space to care for livestock animals, no shelters and not really realistic to save them all especially when people need that food to live.

After watching several of these videos I have come to the conclusion that being an animal in a foreign country is just not much fun.

A lot of parts of the world are excellent with their dogs. Europe, Australia-NZ and even Asian countries are also excellent. Japan is one. I've also heard Cambodians are good to their dogs, which is surprising since both Vietnam and Thailand on either side of them eat dogs.

I understand why people are upset about dog meat farms. I am too because most of them are just incredibly cruel and they torture the dogs before they eat them which is a horrible thing to do. But I don't quite get people's problems with another culture eating different meat than we do. Is it because cats and dogs are seen as pets over here in the western world? Well, for some, so are chickens and cows and pigs but no one really cares about stopping the whole industry from killing them. I would honestly be okay with people in other countries eating dogs and cats even if I could never eat either one of them. They just have to be kept under humane conditions so that they at least can have a healthy and good life before they get eaten. Same goes for all animals. And sure, if you feel like no animal should be killed for food, applause to you, it's a noble opinion. But for me, it's just part of the human diet, so we can be healthy. It's natural.

I was hoping someone would say this.I have one of these dogs. He is the sweetest thing ever even though he still gets scared by butterflies. And even though I know what he has been through and what many other animals go through, I still eat meat. I just make sure it's from good people.

I love that hardworking, heartfelt volunteers are changing things, but I hate the idea the dogs are only "saved" by "going to America. We euthanize over 1 million dogs ever year in the shelters due to lack of space; we are not perfect. There are good owners, good and loving volunteers in Asia who are fighting the good fight. The people of Taiwan proved that. Can't we highlight some of their dedication too, rather than always highlight the "white savior" taking dogs back to America?!

In China they often torture these dogs to death, namely at the Yulin dog meat festival, because a common belief is that fear makes the meat taste better. I think that eating meat is a natural part of life, but I think that taking any life for food should be done in a humane way. We as people have so much more to learn about compassion towards animals as well as each other, and sadly maybe we're just at a point where there are far too many of us on this planet who are apathetic or unsympathic and want to be fed unhealthy amounts of meats for it to be a tabled discussion :/ no animal who is afraid or in pain or lonely or sick should ever be butchered mercilessly, and people could definitely do better with eating less meat

Fruits and vegetables can in fact be the only dietary substance for mostly each and every living being on the ground. Unsure of the aquatic life. . But if there were enough plant life to sustain it, same can be said for aquatic creatures.

look, dhunley, it's better than the abuse that takes place on factory farms, but if someone hunted you or you family member, would you consider that humane? a plant based diet is healthier for people, for the environment, and is genuinely humane.
