Food for Thought. Artetas 1st season he finished 8th and scored 58 goals and conceded 56. In his secord season he finished 8th again 61 goals for 55 against. In Artetas 3rd season he finished 5th with a horrendous start and lost the 1st 4 games. If Arteta and that record was at Spurs and half the fanbase was in charge he would never have made it. You Spurs fans need to get a grip and have some patience otherwise you will wait another 20 years for a trophy.
Artetas was backed on transfers though all these years. He also has brought most of his first targets since at the helm, Ange don’t have the same resources.
Arteta's first game as Arsenal coach was on Boxing Day in 2019. When he took over, Arsenal was in 15th place, and by the end of his first half-season, he had managed to improve their position to 8th and won the FA Cup. In his first full season, Arsenal finished in 8th place, and in his 2nd season he finished in 5th. 3rd and 4th he finished 2nd place respectively. get your facts straight, mate
@@andyseeley4972 agree 💯, you could see Arteta had a plan from the start. He was backed in the transfer market and added quality to the squad each year.
Mourinho and conte both had Kane. I feel like this is not spoken about or seemingly even considered by most pundits and supporters. ?our best player ever. Respect to Ange for not pointing it out.
Yes but those managers had arguably the worst set of defenders to work with. Majority of fans think this current backline the best since Poch was in charge. Yet Spurs concede more goals now than when Jose and Conte were in charge. Spurs cannot be a successful team conceding almost 2 goals every week.
Ange never worked with Kane either. We don't know if the same problems would be there. How many chances do our wingers and midfielders actually create? I don't recall any clear cut chances on Sunday.
That’s why Ali is the best source to listen to after matches like this. I personally cannot stand TH-camrs/pundits or podcasters who go off on a rant on how bad we are etc. it’s more healthy for the club to listen to when someone like Ali has a clear head and speaks in balance the positive and negative.
What I think really bothers fans is that the goals we’ve conceded have been very similar, set pieces or we’ve been targeted on counters and our attack has been very poor too. There have always been excuses for the poor performances, “but we dominated possession”, “we were unlucky”, “we lost concentration one moment”, “player x, y, z was injured”. Then when all players were back, we still didn’t click. This window was an opportunity to strengthen our team significantly but so far none of the players look like a readymade upgrade that can contribute immediately to the team. Solanke we know is quality but we know Werner is not. Bergvall and Gray are kids, same with Odobert. We failed to get a proven 6 and top winger and we have to pray to the gods for no injuries to VDV and Udogie. It’s a failure from the club, I’m sorry. But Ange is also to blame, if he was truly happy with the window and got everyone he wanted, he’s also at fault. He doesn’t play players like Son to his strengths, his last win against a top 10 side was in December, some of the losses were absolute batterings, his win percentage is worse than Poch’s, Mourinho’s and Conte’s. I obviously want things to work but I saw 0 belief from the players after Gabi scored and when managers start talking about past glories, it’s never a good sign.
I remember when they did the same thing to Mikel Arteta, and now they are praising him for where Arsenal is at the moment. This is just a reminder that Arteta finished 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd in his managerial career at Arsenal. Ange finished 5th in his 1st season... TRUST THE PROCESS 💪 💪 💪
So close to being a good side, but so far away too. You just have to watch Spurs to know they're not too far away and that this team could really click. And I mean really click. But, we give away chances. We're guaranteed to give up at least one gilt edged chance per game, and we keep getting punished. So close, but yet so far.
Against Newcastle we put ball after ball into the box and we were missing Solanke. Against Arsenal we had Solanke and nobody put the ball in the box. Johnson had plenty of opportunities and needs to sit on the bench. Madison needs to sit on the bench for a bit as well. Just not good enough. Romero is great but loses focus too many times and Vicario needs to be better at bossing the box.
Arteta marked the winger with just one player, while the second player, instead of doubling up on the winger, moved centrally to block space for potential runs or passes, particularly targeting our inverted fullbacks. In our style of play, the wingers lack the quality on the ball to overcome an effective counter-tactic like this, especially when executed by top defenders.
I suggest we look at our stats against the top 10 and top 6 it’s abysmal. Ange is out of his depth. This formation works in Japan and Scotland as all the other teams are a joke. It won’t work in the prem I’m done!! Our last 10-15 games is relegation form
I'm quite taken back by just how little time the manager appears to be getting. You'd think we were winning the league every year before he came along. The media in most part sound like they want him to fail - it's not a comparison but there are parallels to when Pep first came to the prem - "he's naive", "that style of football will never work in england" "Fraudiola" etc. Now it's Imposta-no-clue. I hope he gets some time, all the front 3 need to do is move the ball as quickly as the rest of the team and gaps will open. Solanke is the key - only trained the day before so he's had no time to gel. Arsenal approached the game like Pulis' Stoke, just as they did with City last year, so that shows what Arteta thinks of us
4 clean sheets in 37 games. Dress the team and tactics up any way you want, that form is not going to win a Trophy. Saying "Spurs didn't play badly" is like saying losing is more attractive under Ange than Conte.
I would rather be on a difficult road rebuilding to something than changing our manager every season and looking like there is no plan or vision. I had goon mates who wanted Arteta gone, the club stuck with vision, Liverpool the same when Klopp changed everything. It was Solanke’s second game as well against the best defence in the league who also came and sat in a low block. So it was hard. We weren’t quick enough on the break, I agree with that, there is work to do, but after so many horrendous years where I the watch was so terrible I will stick with the process. Everyone was saying 2-3 year rebuild before Ange started, need to be patient! now we are 1 year in and certain people want to change. Madness to me, Spurs have to back a manager to even look credible
Please please can you ask why Ange brought on Werner for Maddison when Arsenal were sat back in their penalty area? If Maddison was knackered (he didnt look it) then shouldnt we be bringing on Bergval or Gray, someone who can get a great cross in or unlock the door? Frankly of all the negatives in the game this was the most alarming, Werner!? I want to back Ange but what a confusing substitution, that doesnt fill ne with confidence 🤦♂️ Also id love to know if Cuti told Ange he had a fever and whether they considered Dragusin starting!
Agree bergvall or gray should have come on instead of werner but maddison for me has been poor for a while. Needs to sort himself out. Annoyed me when he hugged arteta as well during the game
ANGES ..First ten matches at Spurs has massively masked how last season felt...... We are actually and more important...factually having some of our worst run of results in many years. Somehow it doesn't feel like it..... Finally Sky and Bt sport are compiling the results and trends under Ange.. Our last 5 wins been all over relegation threatened or went down.... We rarely beat top 10 teams.
It feels a bit like the beginning of the end. I could see Ange going if Levy doesn't change his ways. In the prem it's not going to get any easier. I hope 🙏 he's given more time, by it's a results business.
We have conceded 4 goals in 4 games. The problem is we have only scored 6. And I would happily blame Romero for 2/4 goals when he didn’t mark Vardy and Gabriel. We need to be more brave and take more risks in the final third.
Why did we keep Werner?... Why are we playing Johnson? We all saw them being outshined by Mikey Moore and Lankshear in Pre Season... I'm starting to doubt Ange
May? Is. Ange may have won in Scotland (Gerrard won the SPL, dreadful for Villa), Japan and Australia, he wouldnt be touched by the other leagues. He has no plan B, and has been found out
@@Davine.sounds before Enic took over Spurs were a club that finished 10th most seasons if Spurs got into the EL it was seen as great. If they won a cup it was also great. Today Spurs are seen as a club that should be fighting for titles and be in the CL every season. Finishing 5th is seen as a bad season. So how has Enic not change the culture of the club?
The OP didn't say that ENIC haven't changed the culture of the club, he said that a change needs to be made now ... and he's right. You can bring up those years where we weren't regularly in the top 6, but we still won trophies back then. We're in our longest trophy drought (16 years) for more than 60 years. This is our worst PL start in 9 years. Again, the OP's right.
The one player I've been disappointed with since Ange has joined Spurs will probably shock you but it's because he hasn't delivered everything we know he can deliver. The player is Son, since Ange came to Spurs he hasn't shot from outside the penalty box, the one thing he excels at and is pretty much guaranteed to score from, whether it's because won't let him or what the deal is I don't know but he refuses to shoot from outside the box. His refusing to do this is ridiculous and if he won't one of the things he's best at then he might as well sit out the next game and start Mikey Moore who you know will give 100%. We've had so much possession in the 3 games, forget Everton, scored 2 goals and got 1pt, most of the crosses were a complete waste of time raises the question of why Werner again bringing him on seemed a lost cause, Will Lankshear would have been a better choice. A bit early to predict, as some people are, a relegation battle but Son really needs to change and start shooting from outside the box, wingers need to improve the crosses and our 65 million signing needs to show up. Shooting at the goalie is seem to be the target we're aiming at, that and the roof of the stadium. Yes another disappointing result but not sadly unexpected, have a great week and take care.
I’m paraphrasing slightly, but Einstein said something along the lines of “the definition of insanity is continuing to be shit at set pieces but expecting different results”
I’m ange out because he isn’t learning. Tactics don’t change and we’ve been found out. vicario doesn’t claim the corner and it cost us, Porro can’t defend, ange doesn’t use half his squad and Solanke is low on confidence. Son is the captain but never turns up when we need him like Kane did. Maddison laughing with Arteta made my blood boil because he isn’t trying anything different anymore.
I'm almost 60. Forty years of supporting Tottenham. I'm about done. I have to be philosophical about this. Husband and wife with children can get divorced. Children can leave parents. I'm done with Spurs. They're terrible for my health. Eight months of football, year on year for 40 years. The happiness has been fleeting while the pains have been consistent.. People can call me whatever, I don't give a shit. I can't be so down and having chest pains because I support one effing football club. Year after year, what is guaranteed is let downs after let downs. This team and this club can eff off. Kane, no trophy. Son, no trophy... Maybe it's true. This club is cursed. I'm getting out. I'm not so young anymore.
It’s about the journey mate, it’s better to support a shit team than one that always wins. Not many teams win the trophies it’s harder than people bang on about. At least spurs are interesting and have a banging stadium. Chin up geezer it’s probs the bad food or moany wife giving you chest pains
@reecerohrbasser7256 🤣🤣 It's a journey, you say? If you go on a journey and it's taking you 40 years to get there, then you seriously need to consider whether you're on the right road. At least it's gonna be a one-way journey 🤣
This has got to be the worst collection of wingers for what the manager asks them to do in the last 20 years. I’m dying inside watching son stand on the touchline and Brennan Johnson try to dribble the football. We are absolutely woeful if any team makes us create from wide. Ange is in trouble with putting his faith in the players he’s got and not improving those areas
Ange is in the premiership of managers. Some of the best managers in the world are those. His style of play and substitutions are in question. He is telling the Spurs fans it either my way or the highway. Ange show some respect.
The people taking shots aren’t the people I wish took the shots. Sonny should never have just 1 shot to his name. That’s insane to me one of our better finishers only took 1 shot. Maddison needs to take more shots as well
I just tuned in to see how low Ali was going to be on the opening sigh-o-meter - a real big sigh - quite rightly so. Spurs fan since 1974. We've seen the lows haven't we? But the "reasons to be cheerful" quotient that we've always relied on to keep us going through the tough times seem few and far between. I like Ange, but i fear the dogmatic approach, lack of attention to details and juvenile recruitment policy will be his undoing. You don't have much time to build in the PL - tbf he's had a year and 3 windows - do we look a ton better? Not really... shame.
Has Ange been brave enough in his selections? Ange demands bravery from his players in creative movement forward. Since bringing on two of our supposed future stars where have they been? Why bring them into the team if we’re not going to see them getting game time?
key issue I"ve noticed, we always pass to the player or behind them. Watch balls out to Johnson, they make him stop and turn, instead of running on to a pass in front of him.
Hi Alasdair, thanks as ever for the great work you do. With reference to the team I would like to see a strong line up, but really would like to see Bergvall and Gray start. Those lads are special and we need to start getting them on the pitch. COYS
Possession isn't 99% of the football law any more - teams are happy to let us keep the ball, knowing that if they defend as a unit we won't be able to break them down.
It never was. Arsenal under Arteta regularly have less possession but win games, and comfortably at that. It's a tactic. 45% vs Brighton away last season - 0:3 43% vs Liverpool last season - 3:1 49% vs Brighton last season - 2:0 50% vs Lens - 6:0 44% vs Chelsea - 5:0 45% vs Leverkusen - 4:1
@Qlicky Im guessing it was all part of their plan to keep losing the ball in their own half and nearly conceding from a pass from a defender under pressure
@@bb5979 Losing the ball in your own half is always a possibility when playing from the back, it has nothing to do with Spurs. Here are some interesting stats though: Shots accuracy excluding blocked shots: Arsenal 100% Spurs 55.6% Shooting Accuracy: Arsenal 57.1% Spurs 33.3% Tackles: Arsenal 21 Spurs 20. It's funny how the attacking and 'dominating' team had to make same amount of tackles as the defending one. And how the team that parked the bus had a better XG.
People wanting Ange out are a part of the reason this club ain’t winning shit any time soon. Sacking a manager who’s in the middle of a project AGAIN, will not solve a damn thing. Be patient. Y’all cried for a rebuild and we’re getting it and y’all are mad.
Omg, thank you for this comment. The same Arsenal lost just before this game, and no one sacked Arteta. The media should leave us alone; we are building; remember, the same Arsenal most are praising now were worse 2-3 seasons ago, so much so that fans wanted him out. But the management gave him time. Now look at it
I’m not a local spurs fan, in fact I’m all the way across the pond, so I don’t pretend to know fully know the pain that comes with this defeat, but it hurts all the same.. however, people calling for Ange out really makes me think I live on a different planet. We’ve barely even started the season. And we’ve fit forward for what..5% of that time? It’s just insane. I’m thankful these people aren’t in control of this rebuild or else Ted Lasso would really be our manager by the end of the season. Keep the faith!
Also something I've noticed in comments... no-one has mentioned that when Arsenal park the bus ie look like a Sean Dyche team, they are hard to beat...City couldn't do it last season
Ange is reactive, not proactive he's the attacking version of Southgate! As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, “Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.” I don't see Ange is capable of building us defensively. A sturdy defence and backbone are needed for challenging and winning trophies! I would Give Ange at least until the end of the season, I'm not sure now if he will make it.
Really appreciate your unguarded approach to these chats, Ali. It’s been quite some time since Son could be considered “dangerous” on a consistent basis. He’s a club legend and such a nice guy, but certainly deserves more scrutiny. Have journalists been asking more questions of Ange about his role? There were a number of opportunities yesterday that the Son of 2-3 years ago would have pounced on without hesitation, but he just doesn’t seem to have that spark any longer - and this is hardly a recent trend. I fear the theme of this season will be the difficulty in letting go of the ghost of Sonny past.
Some headlines and stats from Artetas second season in December 2020. - 'Relegation Looms' says Arteta. Arsenal are 15th in the Premier League' after taking five points from their past 10 games. - Defeat at Everton has resulted in Arsenal’s worst points return - 14 from 14 matches - since 1974-75. - Arsenal in crisis. Arteta's side have just 13 points from 12 games
Going to watch your podcast later. One of the more balanced podcasts out there !. I'm sure you're going to mention these stats.. Thanks for making me feel better
Arteta inherited the worst team Arsenal have had in recent memory. They were 10th at the time, 7 points from 4th. December 20 was his first season basically, because he was appointed in mid season the year before. By the December of 2020 Arteta has bought Partey, Runnarson, Gabriel and Pablo Mari for combined fee of £71 million. And got Willian and Cedric as free players. So, only 2 decent players basically and the rest were supposed to fill the holes for the time being. Ange has spent £317 million in pretty much the same amount of time, which comes to around 4.5X more money spent. Most, or should I say sane fans knew you couldn't fix that Arsenal side with £70 million and couple of rejects. Which is why he was given time. By his third season he got Odegaard, Ben White, Ramsdale and Tomiyasu for £140 million and that's when the actual Rebuild really started to happen and you could see clear improvement. His points tally since he took over Arsenal are 56, 61, 69, 84 and 89. Clear progress. It was also his first gig, while Ange has had 20+ years of experience. With Ange, it seems he's going backwards rather than forwards. And Tottenham have spent a lot of money on mediocre players. And btw, in the last 5 years Arsenal spent only about 10 million more than Spurs have.
@@Qlickyoh yes because Postecoglou inheriting a squad with Ndombele, Sanchez, Reguillon, Gil, Rodon, Tanganga, Danjuma, Lenglet and a washed up Lloris was better. Also losing Harry Kane who had dragged a mid table side to 5th. Spurs spent more on backing Ange in his first season. We are not going to be 15th in December like they were either. Back him and stop being a toxic drag on our club.
Hi Ali, great video as always. Totally agree with your thoughts on how both Johnson and Odobert dodged attacking Timber even though he was on a yellow. This takes me back to Jose pointing out to the then Tottenham players, which Man City players were on a yellow card and to be more of a…(bleep). My point on the Arsenal goal is it’s a clear push. Two hands in the back of Romero. Romero might be moving towards where the ball is coming from. But If Gabriel doesn't push him, he doesn't get a free header. Gillett was happy to penalise every other foul but not this one. This was a marginal game and small details matter. I know you and others have asked Ange this, but I would like him to give more insight into how the team will be more clinical. He has just answered by saying that is on him. But that is three games this season and quite a few last season where we have looked a bit toothless or all bark and no bite as you mentioned. The players can not hide from that criticism.
@@bb5979 Gray is £40m though, that price tag would suggest a signing for the now. Bergvall is more justifiable having come from a different country and a weaker league
I don’t think the yellow cards for Bentancur, VDV or Vicario were deserved. And I think Timber could easily have gone. I’m ok that he was given the benefit of the doubt, unlike our players who were booked at the drop of a hat.
@@clubgelhave you watched the previous 3 games? Exciting football that lacked finishing. Even the Arsenal game, if our players had finishing instinct the outcome of this game could’ve different. Could be a coaching problem, but that’s what I’m seeing.
@@FranciscoCorreia10 there’s nothing wrong with winning with style. The culture at Tottenham is to play attacking football and promoting youth. Signing a win now coach like Mourinho/Conte who completely go against our philosophy doesn’t make sense and is why they didn’t work out. We have to be patient with Ange and the team.
I have to say, nothing was ever achieved without believing first. Manifestation is a thing. How many strikers tell the tale of 'i knew I was going to score today... I visualised it...' For example, how poor have man utd been since fergie retired. Very. But they've continued to win trophies albeit less frequently.. i believe this is because the Utd supporters believe they will win. Belief feeds confidence, confident players excell and achieve greatness.. Kane, supremely confident in himself couldnt be a better example, 30+ goals consistently in a team not really firing on all cylinders... Rashford, great player, no confidence, no belief, poor performances... Did Ronaldo reach his heights without believing in himself? No he didnt. He backed himself 100%. Long winded note to my fellow spurs fans. Belive we can win and we will. Ange is constantly in Belief that he will win, and he will. But he needs everyone to believe also. He couldnt be a better example of positivity, so back him! We can talk, set plays, shoot on sight, sideways passing, whatever it is... But we have to change the mindset of expecting to struggle, to expecting to win. #coys
This is true but the fans aren’t the main factor driving success. When Fergie was winning every year the organization top down expected winning and had a winning culture. It’s the same with all big clubs around Europe. Real expect to win, Bayern expect to win. Even now man city expect to win. They don’t win because the fans believe in them, they win because winning is the expectation at those clubs. It’s the culture. Spurs have no backbone no winning culture from top to bottom. This has been years and years. 1 win at Stamford bridge in the last 35 years. Spurs have a losing mentality and no backbone. This is a problem from top to bottom.
I've been watching your videos for years, Ali, and usually I think you give a well balanced insight for us fans, but I think you are wide of the mark here. You said we played well "except for the final third". Arsenal allowed us to play in 2/3rds of the pitch so we ONLY had to play in the final third and by that measure we were dreadful. We were appalling in the final third and never looked like scoring. The best open play chance even came to Arsenal with Martinelli. Our wingers, outside of Son, are not natural goalscorers which is a problem in modern football
Arteta’s been managing Arsenal since 20 December 2019. Klopp was at Liverpool for 3 1/2 seasons when he won his first trophy there (the 2019 CL final, ugh).
2 points. 1. I feel that Romero retweet could have been more to do with the line about him being unwell than the transport and that's why he then took it down. 2. Why are people so keen to downplay the push on Romero for the goal. Are we forgetting the huge Harry Kane push on Thiago Silva a couple of years ago?
Thanks for your lucid analysis of this match, Alasdair. I must admit, this one hurt. I do agree with you regarding the level of play until the last third, as well as the diminished level of attack and courage to make a shot instead of hesitating and passing. We do have a lot of talent and I still believe in Ange’s system. Looking forward to when it clicks! Good luck with your training!
I’m absolutely nowhere near saying Ange should be sacked. I’m a patient person, but we also need to see results why he deserves patience. Ange’s record in London derby’s is horrible and record overall in like the last 30 games is really poor. For his own sake, he needs to get results sooner rather than later.
What is not excusable is about 3-4 players stayed to clap the fans yesterday. The rest through tantrums and went straight down the tunnel. Disappointing.
I don’t think losing to this Arsenal team by a single goal is a reason for the fanbase to go into meltdown, we are still at the beginning of this rebuild. Just remember 18months ago all the gooners wanted Arteta out.
If Man Utd can win cup trophy’s two years in a row right now then spurs must believe they can do it - Man Utd team is not levels ahead of ours. Can’t believe everyone trying to say Ange was rude in that sky interview - was totally on the reporter - he doesn’t like to be interrupted when asked a question and after a derby loss they were poking the bear pulling the mic away multiple times. As a club we must press on with Ange this season and hopefully further - not saying I think we do well this season, currently a bit deflated and not letting myself get worked up - must have faith things come good though at the moment we are more like a Brighton than a title contender team
Ali, Many Thanks for the update. We currently lack quality in the final third. I hope this will come!! Areas I felt we could have exploited were Sonny 1v1 with White, don't think Ben White fancied Sonny going at him 1v1, but Sonny just didn't do it. Also agree with you about Johnson, he should have been more positive against Timber. At times we were slow to move the ball in the final third, but credit to Arsenal they did defend very well. Lets hope we can turn this around v Coventry and Brentford, otherwise pressure will be on both the team and Postecoglou.... as we have the Europa League and Man Utd to look forward to the following week.
Let’s not act like we dominated Arsenal - their game plan was clear, same as last year - sit back with a low block and counter or set piece us like last year and worked perfectly. Arteta has Ange’s number. Other than first 10 games last season we we had the unknown factor and caught teams out we are now very obvious how to stop as do the same build up every time. People always think their team will push on and be better next season but knew we hadn’t done enough to replicate last seasons start. Clearly he doesn’t trust our 40m new midfielder that much to come on and do anything in a big game. Does bergval and gray start vs Coventry and do fans get angry if we lose or is that what they want to see - probably quite split who knows
Love your equanimity and balanced approach Ali whether results are positive or otherwise. It's why you are so liked. More importantly congrats on raising over 16k, amazing effort!
Don’t take it personally, having family members who are arse… just book a holiday for when the season comes to an end and invite them, if they fail to win the league you can have a captive audience to abuse their dismay, if they win, you can hide a bag of washing powder in their suitcase and tip customs off on the way home🤣
This bad form is a continuation from last season. With the underwhelming summer signings and the same tactics, i expected spurs to lose, we can't beat top 10 teams, with levy running the club, there will be no trophies or title challenges, but hotels and concerts will be top notch
It's all about outcomes in professional leagues; Coach was brought in to play attacking football, presumably which should result in goals and win. There will always be comparisons with opposing teams and managers; two weeks to prepare for this game. Arsenal coach and players were prepared for every minute of the game. Clearly Spurs coaches and players were not. 70% possession in every game doesn't mean winning every game. Trophies come from scoring goals and not conceding. Same old, same old. I've been a spurs fan since the late sixties in London and get up early in AZ to watch every game. Spend lot of money to go and see a few games each year. Outcome is always the same; no winning mentality. The current record is terrible and I don't see a sliver lining with this lot. Will I stop being a spurs fan - nope!
After years of boring football shit At least we are starting to have the ball Let’s let it mature for at least the year and see where we are that then In saying that still starting Johnson and Maddison might be his downfall as we have hired this new talent that looked great pre season and off the bench
Spurs only have a couple moments of truly nice football a game. When they’re in the opponents final third it reverts back to side to side passing around the 18 and then creating nothing from it. For all the possession they didn’t challenge Raya at all.
We could be winning games and I'd still think that taking someone in the top 20 premier league goal-scorers of all time and making him stand around on the touchline is unforgivable
Thank you for the video, Alasdair. It was definitely a tough result, but I still believe that Ange can have a successful season. I wonder if a few of the underperforming starters may lose their spots to some of the younger players if they continue to struggle. For Coventry, this would be my lineup: Vicario, Davies, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Spence, Gray, Bergvall, Kulusevski, Odobert, Solanke, Moore. I know this is a lot of changes, but I really feel that these players fit the system well. You did predict that Spurs may have a slow start to the season, so I am hoping that they can start playing better with more fixtures over the next few weeks
The painful rebuild that Poch and others once called for is well and truly underway and it feels like a fair share of our supporters haven't got the stomach for it... Joining seasons is a nonsense as there's been a transfer window in between, a massive overhaul, and therefore a new playing squad to utilize. Progress is a process..and although we would all like it to be a far more smoother process, it's one that has a direction and CLEAR strategy behind it which hasn't always been the case of late. There has DEFINITELY been progress made in s number of different areas, but that doesn't mean we're destined to be the finished product or anything close to in just over 12months.
We have lost 8 in 13 .. arsenal without thier 2 best players still to good for spurs ... really starting to show the level of team and manager . Shocking
We’ve been POOR since February, 8months later nothings changed… the players clearly aren’t buying into Ange’s tactics, and his lack of flexibility is really starting to hurt us. The only “saving grace” he’s got is his signings haven’t had enough time to settle in, but in all honesty I can’t see this ending well🤦♂️.
I’ve watched our training videos the attacking drills have no defenders involved they don’t have to beat anyone. Maybe we should stick some defenders in there to make it harder. It’s like come Saturday they panick in front of goals because there are actual defenders. Our strikers expect an open goal
Why do you always echo the party line? Defense is getting better? Our captain in the back, Cuti is responsible for all 4 goals conceded this season? All about improving the attack, what about defending set pieces vs arsenal? Arsenal gave us the ball, we didn't dominate, they just sat back
The way Arsenal played was almost identical to how Spurs played under Mourinho and Conte. Spurs passed and had possession for 90 for nothing. Be critical that’s the only way for the team to get better.
Ali. It doesn't matter how good you are for the rest of the Minutes if for one minute your the reason we concede ..Romero has been at fault for 3 , arguably 4 of the 4goals weve conceded. He doesn't concentrate and he's a liability, he does what he wants often abandoning his position.
Mr. Gold I believe your new thumbnail pose reflects all of our frustration. Seeing the thumbnail made me hesitate to click for hours because I feared that the sound of your sigh might bring back the sadness of that day. I’ll be looking forward to your thumbnail of joy.
Trying not to overreact is always going to be tough especially after a loss in a NLD that we had a great chance in getting a result. Transfer window is possibly showing to be a pretty poor one, and are we weaker now? Should have shaken hands with Werner and went our seperate ways. Love Sarr but he's technically probably our worst midfielder? - surely Gray comes on to replace Bentancaur. If Bergvall is good enough he has to come on against a team that are sat in, not Werner. Or does Ange not trust these youngsters? Our entire front line is struggling - the only one showing any real intent is Kulu and he's not finding an end product. It is very concerning that a low block seems to completely nulify us. Ange needs to find solutions and quickly. Next 6 are all winnable. Minimum 4 wins otherwise I do wonder where we go where results are going to come from. Also, note on the ref - the majority of yellows were absolutely insane. Completely mismanaged. Also, after seeing Arsenal fans crying about a "push" on Gabriel against Newcastle for 6 months. Watch the goal against us and Gabriel shoves Romero in the back, i put money on if Romero goes to ground we get a freekick and the goal doesn't stand. I don't think either were fouls but still.
Possession for Possessions sake isn't playing well. They weren't feefing off scrapes let's be fair they had the better chances if martaneli had squard that ball yo saka in the first half it's 1-0 early on . Are we only 4 games in? Or are we just continuing from where we left of last season we are not inproving. Nothing will change untill something changes
I hate losing to Chelsea more. I just didn’t see the team expressing themselves yesterday it was a bit mechanical. Arsenal’s back five are very good but where was our creativity and fire. Son and Maddison underperformed again just like at Newcastle. I want to Gray, Bergvall and Dragusin and even Spence against Coventry.
The opposition managers have worked out how to place against Tottenham. Postecoglu has not and will not change his tactics. And as for set pieces! 🤦♂️
Tottenham had total of 63 shots in last 4 games out of which Son only had 6 from which he had scored 2. Unless we give Son a chance to shoot instead of hugging the line, we are in trouble. Most clinical player not getting a chance is a problem with Angie's tactics.
Well said Andy
Artetas was backed on transfers though all these years. He also has brought most of his first targets since at the helm, Ange don’t have the same resources.
Arteta's first game as Arsenal coach was on Boxing Day in 2019. When he took over, Arsenal was in 15th place, and by the end of his first half-season, he had managed to improve their position to 8th and won the FA Cup. In his first full season, Arsenal finished in 8th place, and in his 2nd season he finished in 5th. 3rd and 4th he finished 2nd place respectively. get your facts straight, mate
But Arteta was brave enough to admit his failures and refined his system, Ange arrogance with not tweaking his system will be his downfall.
The defence is not the problem. You cant look at a game where we were all over arsenal and had chances to score and go mad at the defence over a 1-0
I remember when they did the same thing to Mikel Arteta, and now they are praising him for where Arsenal is at the moment.
This is just a reminder that Arteta finished 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd in his managerial career at Arsenal.
Ange finished 5th in his 1st season... TRUST THE PROCESS 💪 💪 💪
Time for Dragusin to start over Romero, who’s been terrible and costly.
So close to being a good side, but so far away too.
You just have to watch Spurs to know they're not too far away and that this team could really click. And I mean really click.
But, we give away chances. We're guaranteed to give up at least one gilt edged chance per game, and we keep getting punished.
So close, but yet so far.
Trying to achieve A+ standard with C grade squad, Ange not a miracle worker
Sad to see the famous Mr Gold opening sigh again 😢 We have massive problems with our lack of a cutting edge.
@@michaelkaiser9894 mate Brennan should have never been signed in the first place our attack is nothing

I want to back Ange but what a confusing substitution, that doesnt fill ne with confidence 🤦♂️
Also id love to know if Cuti told Ange he had a fever and whether they considered Dragusin starting!
Agree bergvall or gray should have come on instead of werner but maddison for me has been poor for a while. Needs to sort himself out. Annoyed me when he hugged arteta as well during the game
Might also add if Ange knows the difference between a winger and an inside forward and why does he use Son as a winger and not an inside forward.
We've shopped at championship/relegation level and are surprised we have dropped to mid table at best. Transfer window has killed us.
4 games in, 34 to go. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Relax
I'd argue Romero has been at fault for all 4 goals this season.

So the big question is with his record since the first 10 games of last season which is terrible. How long would you allow it go on for
Ange ball is Wegner ball before he got sacked. Side to side backway crap.

@@Qlicky ok

Cheers for that Alasdair. Plenty to ponder.
What is not excusable is about 3-4 players stayed to clap the fans yesterday. The rest through tantrums and went straight down the tunnel. Disappointing.
You don’t think they realised they had stunk the joint out and let the fans down?
That’s poor.
You’re spot on
💯
Love your equanimity and balanced approach Ali whether results are positive or otherwise. It's why you are so liked. More importantly congrats on raising over 16k, amazing effort!
Thank you!
Don’t take it personally, having family members who are arse… just book a holiday for when the season comes to an end and invite them, if they fail to win the league you can have a captive audience to abuse their dismay, if they win, you can hide a bag of washing powder in their suitcase and tip customs off on the way home🤣
On set pieces, I strongly believe it's on Vicario. Nothing personal, but I think we need a goalie that can command his box
We were outclassed. They executed their game plan to perfection and we never looked dangerous.
This bad form is a continuation from last season. With the underwhelming summer signings and the same tactics, i expected spurs to lose, we can't beat top 10 teams, with levy running the club, there will be no trophies or title challenges, but hotels and concerts will be top notch
Agreed
Will I stop being a spurs fan - nope!
agree
There's so much in this team. Ange will get it right. No one will in 1 season.
After years of boring football shit
At least we are starting to have the ball
Let’s let it mature for at least the year and see where we are that then
In saying that still starting Johnson and Maddison might be his downfall as we have hired this new talent that looked great pre season and off the bench
For Coventry: Vicario, Udogie, VdV, Dragon, Spence, Grey, Sarr, Bergval, Odebert, Solanke, Moore
I dont understand. Who are you referencing?
Sanity. Thank you.
Shocking
I back Ange all the way.
Fr bro this guy only has one plan and when it doesn’t work he makes subs that don’t have any impact😂🤦♂️
@@Victor-Voltz Loooooop no joke
We have been great on the pitch except in the final third. Our attackers need to pull their heads in.
@@kenardy Huuuh? We don’t dominate midfield battles and both our fullbacks lose possession the most outta any of the top10 sides…..
All still to be played for. But i think we’re going to need the kids to make something happen this year.
The anti Ange noise on social media by so called Spurs fans is embarrassing...very frustrating, but 4 games in 😂wow..get a grip everyone
Did you want Nuno out or did you argue he needed more time? Ange is on a poorer run of results than Nuno was when he was sacked.
Nuno was never gonna work, Ange building something special, what we dont want is so called fans getting on the backs of team after 4 games 😡
@jasonkellard2935 which players are getting better under ange? They're noticeably regressing. We should see improvement after 14 months.
It's not just the 4 games this season, it's the final 25 from last year too.
Regarding Solanke being rusty. Spurs should have signed him earlier in the window.
I know it's irrelevant, but Scott parker and Luka modric were better than any 3 of our midfielders.
If it’s irrelevant, why say it?
I’ve watched our training videos the attacking drills have no defenders involved they don’t have to beat anyone. Maybe we should stick some defenders in there to make it harder. It’s like come Saturday they panick in front of goals because there are actual defenders. Our strikers expect an open goal
Do you really think that is all they do? 😂
@@kenardy it definitely looks like it. We can’t score and far too many passes in the box this has been going on since December january
To put it in perspective Spurs fans are full of Ange(r)
😂
Mr. Gold
I believe your new thumbnail pose reflects all of our frustration.
We have conceded 1 set piece goal this season vs the team that is best at set pieces… grow a brain
Why are young players always so protected with minutes these days? Imagine keeping Rooney on the bench at 17 because he’s only young
Play Mikey!
very good point
EXACTLY!!!! AND WHY SPEND 40 MILLION ON A PLAYER MOT EVEN STARTING!!! GET THEM IN THE 11!! WE COULD OF BOUGHT TONEY FOR THAT MONEY
Tottenham had total of 63 shots in last 4 games out of which Son only had 6 from which he had scored 2. Unless we give Son a chance to shoot instead of hugging the line, we are in trouble. Most clinical player not getting a chance is a problem with Angie's tactics.
