Food for Thought. Artetas 1st season he finished 8th and scored 58 goals and conceded 56. In his secord season he finished 8th again 61 goals for 55 against. In Artetas 3rd season he finished 5th with a horrendous start and lost the 1st 4 games. If Arteta and that record was at Spurs and half the fanbase was in charge he would never have made it. You Spurs fans need to get a grip and have some patience otherwise you will wait another 20 years for a trophy.

Arteta's first game as Arsenal coach was on Boxing Day in 2019. When he took over, Arsenal was in 15th place, and by the end of his first half-season, he had managed to improve their position to 8th and won the FA Cup. In his first full season, Arsenal finished in 8th place, and in his 2nd season he finished in 5th. 3rd and 4th he finished 2nd place respectively. get your facts straight, mate

Yes but those managers had arguably the worst set of defenders to work with. Majority of fans think this current backline the best since Poch was in charge. Yet Spurs concede more goals now than when Jose and Conte were in charge. Spurs cannot be a successful team conceding almost 2 goals every week.

Ange never worked with Kane either. We don't know if the same problems would be there. How many chances do our wingers and midfielders actually create? I don't recall any clear cut chances on Sunday.

That’s why Ali is the best source to listen to after matches like this. I personally cannot stand TH-camrs/pundits or podcasters who go off on a rant on how bad we are etc. it’s more healthy for the club to listen to when someone like Ali has a clear head and speaks in balance the positive and negative.

What I think really bothers fans is that the goals we’ve conceded have been very similar, set pieces or we’ve been targeted on counters and our attack has been very poor too. There have always been excuses for the poor performances, “but we dominated possession”, “we were unlucky”, “we lost concentration one moment”, “player x, y, z was injured”. Then when all players were back, we still didn’t click. This window was an opportunity to strengthen our team significantly but so far none of the players look like a readymade upgrade that can contribute immediately to the team. Solanke we know is quality but we know Werner is not. Bergvall and Gray are kids, same with Odobert. We failed to get a proven 6 and top winger and we have to pray to the gods for no injuries to VDV and Udogie. It’s a failure from the club, I’m sorry. But Ange is also to blame, if he was truly happy with the window and got everyone he wanted, he’s also at fault. He doesn’t play players like Son to his strengths, his last win against a top 10 side was in December, some of the losses were absolute batterings, his win percentage is worse than Poch’s, Mourinho’s and Conte’s. I obviously want things to work but I saw 0 belief from the players after Gabi scored and when managers start talking about past glories, it’s never a good sign.

Against Newcastle we put ball after ball into the box and we were missing Solanke. Against Arsenal we had Solanke and nobody put the ball in the box. Johnson had plenty of opportunities and needs to sit on the bench. Madison needs to sit on the bench for a bit as well. Just not good enough. Romero is great but loses focus too many times and Vicario needs to be better at bossing the box.

Arteta marked the winger with just one player, while the second player, instead of doubling up on the winger, moved centrally to block space for potential runs or passes, particularly targeting our inverted fullbacks. In our style of play, the wingers lack the quality on the ball to overcome an effective counter-tactic like this, especially when executed by top defenders.

I'm quite taken back by just how little time the manager appears to be getting. You'd think we were winning the league every year before he came along. The media in most part sound like they want him to fail - it's not a comparison but there are parallels to when Pep first came to the prem - "he's naive", "that style of football will never work in england" "Fraudiola" etc. Now it's Imposta-no-clue. I hope he gets some time, all the front 3 need to do is move the ball as quickly as the rest of the team and gaps will open. Solanke is the key - only trained the day before so he's had no time to gel.
Arsenal approached the game like Pulis' Stoke, just as they did with City last year, so that shows what Arteta thinks of us

I had goon mates who wanted Arteta gone, the club stuck with vision, Liverpool the same when Klopp changed everything.
It was Solanke’s second game as well against the best defence in the league who also came and sat in a low block. So it was hard.
We weren’t quick enough on the break, I agree with that, there is work to do, but after so many horrendous years where I the watch was so terrible I will stick with the process.

The one player I've been disappointed with since Ange has joined Spurs will probably shock you but it's because he hasn't delivered everything we know he can deliver. The player is Son, since Ange came to Spurs he hasn't shot from outside the penalty box, the one thing he excels at and is pretty much guaranteed to score from, whether it's because won't let him or what the deal is I don't know but he refuses to shoot from outside the box. His refusing to do this is ridiculous and if he won't one of the things he's best at then he might as well sit out the next game and start Mikey Moore who you know will give 100%. We've had so much possession in the 3 games, forget Everton, scored 2 goals and got 1pt, most of the crosses were a complete waste of time raises the question of why Werner again bringing him on seemed a lost cause, Will Lankshear would have been a better choice. A bit early to predict, as some people are, a relegation battle but Son really needs to change and start shooting from outside the box, wingers need to improve the crosses and our 65 million signing needs to show up. Shooting at the goalie is seem to be the target we're aiming at, that and the roof of the stadium. Yes another disappointing result but not sadly unexpected, have a great week and take care.

As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, “Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.” I don't see Ange is capable of building us defensively. A sturdy defence and backbone are needed for challenging and winning trophies! I would Give Ange at least until the end of the season, I'm not sure now if he will make it.

He’s a club legend and such a nice guy, but certainly deserves more scrutiny. Have journalists been asking more questions of Ange about his role? There were a number of opportunities yesterday that the Son of 2-3 years ago would have pounced on without hesitation, but he just doesn’t seem to have that spark any longer - and this is hardly a recent trend. I fear the theme of this season will be the difficulty in letting go of the ghost of Sonny past.

Arteta inherited the worst team Arsenal have had in recent memory. They were 10th at the time, 7 points from 4th.
December 20 was his first season basically, because he was appointed in mid season the year before.
By the December of 2020 Arteta has bought Partey, Runnarson, Gabriel and Pablo Mari for combined fee of £71 million. And got Willian and Cedric as free players.
So, only 2 decent players basically and the rest were supposed to fill the holes for the time being.
Ange has spent £317 million in pretty much the same amount of time, which comes to around 4.5X more money spent.
Most, or should I say sane fans knew you couldn't fix that Arsenal side with £70 million and couple of rejects. Which is why he was given time.
By his third season he got Odegaard, Ben White, Ramsdale and Tomiyasu for £140 million and that's when the actual Rebuild really started to happen and you could see clear improvement. His points tally since he took over Arsenal are 56, 61, 69, 84 and 89. Clear progress. It was also his first gig, while Ange has had 20+ years of experience.
With Ange, it seems he's going backwards rather than forwards. And Tottenham have spent a lot of money on mediocre players.
And btw, in the last 5 years Arsenal spent only about 10 million more than Spurs have.

Hi Ali, great video as always. Totally agree with your thoughts on how both Johnson and Odobert dodged attacking Timber even though he was on a yellow. This takes me back to Jose pointing out to the then Tottenham players, which Man City players were on a yellow card and to be more of a…(bleep). My point on the Arsenal goal is it’s a clear push. Two hands in the back of Romero. Romero might be moving towards where the ball is coming from. But If Gabriel doesn't push him, he doesn't get a free header. Gillett was happy to penalise every other foul but not this one. This was a marginal game and small details matter.
I know you and others have asked Ange this, but I would like him to give more insight into how the team will be more clinical. He has just answered by saying that is on him. But that is three games this season and quite a few last season where we have looked a bit toothless or all bark and no bite as you mentioned. The players can not hide from that criticism.

I have to say, nothing was ever achieved without believing first. Manifestation is a thing. How many strikers tell the tale of 'i knew I was going to score today... I visualised it...'
For example, how poor have man utd been since fergie retired. Very. But they've continued to win trophies albeit less frequently.. i believe this is because the Utd supporters believe they will win. Belief feeds confidence, confident players excell and achieve greatness.. Kane, supremely confident in himself couldnt be a better example, 30+ goals consistently in a team not really firing on all cylinders... Rashford, great player, no confidence, no belief, poor performances... Did Ronaldo reach his heights without believing in himself? No he didnt. He backed himself 100%.
Long winded note to my fellow spurs fans.
Belive we can win and we will.
Ange is constantly in Belief that he will win, and he will. But he needs everyone to believe also. He couldnt be a better example of positivity, so back him!
We can talk, set plays, shoot on sight, sideways passing, whatever it is... But we have to change the mindset of expecting to struggle, to expecting to win. #coys

This is true but the fans aren’t the main factor driving success. When Fergie was winning every year the organization top down expected winning and had a winning culture. It’s the same with all big clubs around Europe.
Real expect to win, Bayern expect to win. Even now man city expect to win. They don’t win because the fans believe in them, they win because winning is the expectation at those clubs. It’s the culture.
Spurs have no backbone no winning culture from top to bottom. This has been years and years. 1 win at Stamford bridge in the last 35 years. Spurs have a losing mentality and no backbone. This is a problem from top to bottom.

There will always be comparisons with opposing teams and managers; two weeks to prepare for this game. Arsenal coach and players were prepared for every minute of the game. Clearly Spurs coaches and players were not. 70% possession in every game doesn't mean winning every game. Trophies come from scoring goals and not conceding. Same old, same old. I've been a spurs fan since the late sixties in London and get up early in AZ to watch every game. Spend lot of money to go and see a few games each year. Transfer window is possibly showing to be a pretty poor one, and are we weaker now?
Should have shaken hands with Werner and went our seperate ways.
Love Sarr but he's technically probably our worst midfielder? - surely Gray comes on to replace Bentancaur.
If Bergvall is good enough he has to come on against a team that are sat in, not Werner. Or does Ange not trust these youngsters?
Our entire front line is struggling - the only one showing any real intent is Kulu and he's not finding an end product.
It is very concerning that a low block seems to completely nulify us. Ange needs to find solutions and quickly. Next 6 are all winnable. Minimum 4 wins otherwise I do wonder where we go where results are going to come from.
Also, note on the ref - the majority of yellows were absolutely insane. Completely mismanaged. Also, after seeing Arsenal fans crying about a "push" on Gabriel against Newcastle for 6 months. Watch the goal against us and Gabriel shoves Romero in the back, i put money on if Romero goes to ground we get a freekick and the goal doesn't stand.
I don't think either were fouls but still.

Possession for Possessions sake isn't playing well.
They weren't feefing off scrapes let's be fair they had the better chances if martaneli had squard that ball yo saka in the first half it's 1-0 early on . Are we only 4 games in? Or are we just continuing from where we left of last season we are not inproving.
Nothing will change untill something changes

I hate losing to Chelsea more. I just didn’t see the team expressing themselves yesterday it was a bit mechanical. Arsenal’s back five are very good but where was our creativity and fire. Son and Maddison underperformed again just like at Newcastle. I want to Gray, Bergvall and Dragusin and even Spence against Coventry.

The opposition managers have worked out how to place against Tottenham. Postecoglu has not and will not change his tactics. And as for set pieces! 🤦‍♂️

We have conceded 1 set piece goal this season vs the team that is best at set pieces… grow a brain

Why are young players always so protected with minutes these days? Imagine keeping Rooney on the bench at 17 because he’s only young

Tottenham had total of 63 shots in last 4 games out of which Son only had 6 from which he had scored 2. Unless we give Son a chance to shoot instead of hugging the line, we are in trouble. Most clinical player not getting a chance is a problem with Angie's tactics.
