- This Black movie recap stars Morgan Freeman, Beverly Todd & Robert Guillaume in the American drama based on a true story titled "Lean on me", released in 1989. Lean On Me was directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Michael Schiffer.
Based on a true story, a decrepit inner-city school must pass the required basic skills test and employs Joe Clark as the new principal to turn the school around with his strict dictatorship. The school is riddled with drugs, gang violence, and underperforming students. Morgan Freeman uses unorthodox methods, clashing with the school, the city & the police to find a way to restore the school back to its glory.

Regrettably that majority African American District, School Board screwed him over . His career was Ruined. Look up his life n carrer after he was shoved out of being an Educator. Even his own community essentially turned on him. Sad..

@@blackflixandchill Well,keep the faith though. There are today many young Principlies, parents n teachers who continue to fight for ALL KIDS. I know. One of my own granddaughters went into teaching. Public schools, specializes in Emotionally disturbed 5th graders. It's rough but she says if I don't try grandpa? Who will. I love that kid.

I'm an old Curmudgeonly fart, #NavyVeteranKorea n a retired county sheriff. West Michigan. But importantly I'm a Pasty a## Caucasian. Yet hopefully lived my life treating all folks well n fairly. I now in the evenings have used my Tablet to watch old TV shows I enjoyed in the 50s. One favorite is the Jack Benny Show. His side kick on TV n in his Radio programs was "Rochester". Real name, EDDIE ANDERSON. . I know many younger folks today find the character Rochester awkward,uncomfortable as an African American. But I always saw him as interesting, intelligent n even Respected by Jack Benny in the show. Rochester got the better of Benny often too,lol. In real life Mr.Anderson was Very Important n impressive In the Los Angeles AfricanAmerican community. Maybe you can do an article on him? Research the "Eddie Rochester Anderson Foundation" too. Benson was more tougher than Mr. Clark. Benson could've played the part of Joe Clark Morgan Freeman was more of a box office actor. But he did a great job though.
That could not happen in today's environment teachers unions have too much power they would not put up we live in the world of safety spaces when I graduated high school I did not know how to read it took me 1 year to learn how to read cuz I paid for tutor with my own money and I realize the public schools failed me as student
