@@debralpateart8862 some people do it to save up money to move into a legit place. Better than being on the streets for a while I guess. Search TH-cam, you'll see videos of people who are intentionally living in storage units so as not to have to pay high rents. It's illegal but people are doing it. They run electricity off of car batteries for lighting, use a small microwave, a heat plate to boil water for coffee and tea. Some run extensions cords from outlets at the facility if it's an indoor storage facility, but they risk getting caught when they do that. It is, apparently, a thing. th-cam.com/video/HPVCTLPNUzo/w-d-xo.html
I don't know... Been one step away from the street more than once. NEVER thought of a storage unit. I think it is pretty resourceful. Not ideal, but safer than the street, I think. We (as a society) need to get more creative about spaces that might help the homeless. Buying up old storage units and installing shared shower facilities, bathrooms and laundry rooms might help a lot of folks.
I think she was couch surfing for sleep as there doesn't appear to be a bed or bed roll. The woman here was storing all her stuff for life and beauty/clean clothing. The things to look presentable and not homeless. The Foo Dogs and the fabulous pictures etc. She was using this for her daily needs, clothes, makeup, food (which you will keep or donate to a food shelf) and personal information. Very resourceful of her.
Love your energy! I am excited going along with your adventures! I found an Estate Sale this past Thursday while out working my ‘actual’ business (love working for myself these past 20 years, having fun) and went back today on its final day. 8 degrees out and having more fun going through the Farm barns and house! Treasures to keep or sell is my side-hustle FUN!!
So sad seeing so many lockers that people where clearly living in. I buy lockers in FL and since the lock down I have seen more and more of them. Stay safe and healthy 🙏💖🙏
Quote of the day "I'm not telling you what size underwear I take." LMAO.....You crack me up. Not a bad unit for $5. (the paper towel treasure crack me up as well)
Oh, Rene, You are really getting an education in weird human survival techniques! Someone was living in there, for sure. Keep your wits about you! Good luck!
Late to the party here, but yeah someone was definitely staying there, for a good few months too glancing the bill, I've definitely been at a place that low myself, and survived to turn my life around So there's always a hope eh
I once was at another storage auction where an electric cord was running from an outlet in the ceiling, down an aisle, and into a unit. The door was open just enough to allow for the cord to not be pinched in the door. Not sure how one lives in the unit (bathroom, heat, etc.).
That is one of the saddest sights I've seen on a storage locker reveal. I feel horribly for the person who was obviously using that as a makeshift home...the photo book near the wall with the infant's picture on front made me tear up.
Sis.....I’m so glad you decided to go ‘full gypsy treasure hunter’! I trust your business model has a truck or van in it for 2021! You’re that good sis!!
Rene, Please give the drugs to a cop disposal site. Anti-depressants are ending up in our water supply. It’s amazing what you can find in a spot for someone living out of a storage unit! Good to have your old self back! Thanks for the bloopers!! Have a great day!

@@paulanull8731 oh. In my state, we can just give them to a receptacle. Of course I’d empty mine into a baggie so there’s be no identifiable labels. No questions asked.
Forget those expensive $50 lockers, stick with the $5.00 ones! Congrats on not losing on this one! and FYI theres cardboard in that paper towel roll. lol
Nice haul, Renée ! 5:22 Just the framed needle work with fuchsias on it is worth thirty bucks or even more. Sad to know that probably a woman lived in this storage unit and couldn´t afford the rent anymore. Greets from GER, U.
Really nice finds! Certainly, a lot better than the last one, with all the medical records. Stay safe and warm, as there's big snow coming. Fantastic video!
You did good for $5 I think I would love to know the story on the person who’s unit it was, something was going on there. Could have been living in it, who knows. I had a girlfriend that rented a storage unit behind her house. Told me the one next to hers this guy rented, he had it furnished with a bed, chair etc. She told me he would come, change, and dress as a woman and set in it and listen to the radio. Seems his wife didn’t know about this aspect of his life My girlfriend and me go up to her storage unit one day to load up for a show and there’s this van parked there, we start loading my truck Door to the van opens up and there is the guy from next door in this black evening dress and high heels. Girlfriend introduces me, I shake his hand and make some small talk We pull out to leave and I see the van door open and this other guy gets out and they go into his unit! OK
Glad to see you have a taste for adventure and a positive view of this storage locker. I know you are very smart person and can see that someone was living there. Love to see you laugh!
Renee, You are so funny & excited discovering your treasures! You really did get a lot for $5.00!! But, at the end you got a little bit goofy, but so funny. I think that you need to go home and eat something! Thanks for sharing ... This video was one-of-a-kind!!! Really Enjoyed it!! You keep me smiling or laughing all the way through it! MADE MY DAY !!
Renee, I would take her medication to the storage place's office. I would leave a note on the locker as to where her meds are. She has probably been off her meds a couple of days if there has been activity by her locker. I would also call her prescribing Dr and let them know. She's been living there quite awhile because there is a screen door on the locker. I bet management knew she was living there. To replace her meds could be quite an ordeal. She will need to go to a county hospital or free clinic. Just the logistics of getting an appointment and a way there is more than I want to think about. Depressed, cold, and now homeless she needs to be plugged into the system.
I think that's the best thing to do, maybe give her her stuff back or leave it at her docs office. She obviously only had the clothes on her back. That storage guy should be reported.
5 bucks! Its worth a gamble at 5 bucks 👍 Renee..your laugh makes me laugh 😄 with another 5 to 8 inches of snow otw, I sure could use a laugh 🤣 so thank u
I hope you make a lot of money on this unit so it will make up for the other one you purchased. It looks like someone was living in the unit for sure. Wishing you the best always. Great video.
