Also, the touch screen controls could be far worse, even if they can be a bit awkward at times, for the most part they're pretty intuitive.
(Also most importantly, that we probably grew up with a ds and not a 3ds, gba, or wii, and that even if it wasn't our first zelda game, it was the more engaging one we played during that time.)

Also something I always wanted to touch on with Zelda, like sure maybe it could have been executed better but to me Phantom Hourglass touch screen puzzle is a demonstration why Zelda puzzles are phenomenal.
It’s not they are overly complex or hard, it’s that they are mechanically unique, have some depth and have some element of brain tickling.
Like you don’t feel like you are going on auto pilot with most Zelda puzzles even the most simplistic ones because they require a degree of thinking.
Like yeah block pushing puzzles aren’t the hardest but they still require a degree of figuring out where to move the block and require awareness of your environment.

as a Link Between Worlds fan, I have never played Link to the Past. I just really enjoy how the wall mechanic was used. While Ocarina of Time is my favourite, Majora's Mask is my second favourite for being the most unique experience in the Zelda series. So many of the game's mechanics are only present in this game while other titles like ALttP and OoT have gotten many iterations and sequels that attempt to recreate that experience, Majora's Mask always provides something very different from other Zelda titles.

To be honest: I feel caught at the "Honeymoon-phase" thing with Tears of the Kingdom 😅 It was hard for me to make a decision, because there's also Majora's Mask which has been my favourite for a long time...
But TotK is THE one game in the series that I was into from the very first trailer and that I bought on day one.... It wasn't just the game, it was also the almost 4 years of anticipation, the feelings of happiness when it finally arrived, the tears of joy... I haven't felt anything like that in a long time! And it came at a time when a lot of things in my life changed for the better, so I will always associate it with this time... You might ask me again about this in one year, but emotions and feelings play a big role when it comes to your favourite game and TotK just was the right game at the right time for me 🥹

I mean, you probably *were* caught with the honeymoon phase thing. I know my phase has already left by this point and I've seen all the cracks of the game - or maybe it's because I've seen the cracks that the honeymoon phase has left me. Either way... You're entirely right, emotions and feelings do play a big role! Which is why I'll come ask again when the next zelda game comes out :3

@@EonAegis I think, I'm still on the honeymoon phase somehow, so that's why I felt caught with that...😅 But I think I'm slowly getting back to "normal" now, so I finally made my decision... I see the flaws, I can also understand all the criticism this game gets from others... But my own experience was different and the stuff didn't bother me at all! Now I just started again with BotW (it's been 5 years...) and also want to play TotK again afterwards... Can't get enough of these two, obviously 🫣 Maybe the flaws will bother me more in my second playthrough, but I don't think so...

@@DineDiamond91Botw in it's simplicity ironically provide a much more....stable experience than tears of the kingdom did. Kinda sad that tears of the kingdom feels unpolished when Nintendo probably did earnestly do their best and all. But ever since I tried to build a makeshift car out of a plank of wood 4 tires and a steering wheel failed miserably, really bummed down my experience with it. Perhaps if it just worked and it clicked like that, I would have been at awe with the building system. Instead I sorta just tried to avoid it as much as humanly possibly.

As a Skyward Sword fan, that's actually pretty funny that you brought up the timeline because I think about it a lot with every game. Tears of the Kingdom really messed me up, but one of the more recent interviews seems to strengthen that the kingdom was re-founded and the entire storyline of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom lie after all of the games created before. Anyway, Skyward Sword is my favorite game because I loved the motion combat. There's nothing in any other game as satisfying as the lizard enemies nagging you only to be nailed with a combo of a spin attack to a fatal blow. It's particularly great in the temple where they send a very strong version as a miniboss that you can still kill just as quickly.

The dark and grim atmosphere, the character development of several characters throughout the game, the stranger (but cool) items to use, interesting dungeon mechanics, awesome side-games, super fun combat, learning new combat moves from a dead past link, it was amazing. Not to mention going through as a wolf first and hearing these characters problems, but not being able to interact with them made me look forward to being able to and made me care for them more. Unfortunately their tiny size caused a few problems in the games functionality, and were ultimately scrapped. Under this train of thought, you're able to say that Zelda used true time travel to properly send Link back, but he's still sent back to his child body. But that causes different issues, as Link was still carrying the Master Sword at the time so wouldn't that have been zapped out of existence as well?
They made the excuse that the triforce peaced out from Link during this in the JP version of Wind Waker which is why it's able to be found, but that only further serves confusion as to why they even thought the Hero of Time could come back to save them.

BotW (and TotK ig) fan here. Not true. The story is at least 60% of my enjoyment of that game. Also the characters are awesome and so are their dynamics.
    Have a nice day 💖

As a LTTP and MM fan I can agree that I simultaneously want to fight OTT fans and also understand that my favorite zeldas aren't for everyone.

Gotta say the Link’s Awakening remake stole my heart. It’s just so perfectly simple it’s complicated, and yes that’s contradictory, but if you know you know. The trade quest brings life to the characters since you have to get to know them, the map environment is so technically sound and allows you to leave markers, the dungeons are absolutely fantastic/varied, and the visuals are just astoundingly excellent. Majora’s mask and Lttp are also especially fantastic zelda games.

3:45 Hi! That's me! I read the AMAZING manga and have been trying to find a way to play the anniversary edition for years now. I used to play it with my cousin all the time when we were young. We played through completely, had to be more than 10-20 times. We would create stories about the four links and the fairies and zelda... It's very near and dear to my heart.
also, as a zelda II fan (its definitely not my favorite but its up there), i pick fights with OoT fans because they wouldn't even HAVE their precious, "flawless" game without it. Ocarina was originally meant to be a zelda II REMAKE, you all owe it a thank you! There are many remnants in the game that i still can connect back to Z2 (the sages mainly, but there are other things as well).

If you have a DSi or a 3DS, you can mod them fairly easily and install the game that way! The files are preserved on the internet :)
I joke about it, but Four Swords is actually a really great game I played a lot of with my younger brother ^^

@@EonAegis yeah! i've been meaning to mod my 3ds, but im terrified of bricking it (i know its hard to do but im convinced i'd find some way to do it) because its the only one i have. ive had that baby since christmas 2012 so if anything went wrong i'd be heartbroken. one day i'll get the guts!

As a SS fan who played it first on a Wii U with the original Wiimote with "motion plus inside" that came with it, yea, the motion controls were actually fine and they made it my favorite zelda game. Minish Cap was my favorite before that. And nope, I couldn't care less about the mess that is the lore. My bible is actually literrally any book about game design
And dude, gotta respect the close the ds puzzle.

Did MM3D and WWHD so incredibly dirty. My first house in minecraft was less dirty than how you did MM3D and WWHD 💀

I always liked OOT because when I was 8 I would spend hours playing the fishing minigame. Who cares about actually progressing, I wanted a 21 pound fish.

As a real Zelda fan (born in 1986 😎) I can't say what my favorit Zelda game is. If you grew up with those games you can't match the emotions you had playing them as a child. I only can say about how often I played which game. OoT just gives me chills everytime I hear any music from this game. What really surprised me, I skipped MM because I was scared of hating the mechanics. After WW and TP I gave it a shot and had more emotions and a connection to that game the other 2 titles didn't give me. I bought the original for N64 and neither the low framerate nor the graphics bothered me even after I played WW in HD. That is saying something and if you skipped MM yourself, just get it and be ready to be blown away...

My love for Wind Waker (Yeah even the HD remake as it looks crisp and nice to me) does not lessen my love for TP at all, far from it. TP Link is my favorite Link design for normal Links bar none... though of course I love Toon Link's art style so much.

Twilight Princess’ Overworld is pretty empty I’ll be honest, it’s like what would happen to Hyrule if it lost its Triforce like Lorule did

I’ve only played BotW and OoT3D, and I’m unsure of which one is my favorite. OoT3D was my intro to the series and it was great, but BotW has so much to do and explore. Like finding 600 Korok. (Played for at least 100 hours and still have only found 159 or so.)

I thought there were 900 koroks to find, but only half are needed for max inventory. You will probably like Tears Of The Kingdom more after you try it. It's the new game + of BOTW.

2:12 I never actually played much of OoT before getting into MM. I think I got up to the fire temple, but honestly I was just bored and never finished the game.
Majora’s Mask has a very special place in my heart though. I played the shit out of that growing up. I’m not sure if the game’s map is bigger than OoT, probably not, but it felt like there was so much packed into the world and always something new for me to discover in subsequent play throughs. But… yeah it really isn’t for everyone, I know a lot of people who were so confused by the first three days that they just stopped there
