This literally just happened on my grandson's Typhon 3s. This thing is basically a 2s with upgraded electronics. I was gonna get him a the 2s but the put this on sale on Black Friday for only $10 more so I figured why not. Why they'd let a plastic spur gear stay in it is beyond me because its got too much power for that and I think it's just a matter of time before this happens.

My metal spur gear screw keeps backing out, which is just frustrating. I can't drive it much. I recently upgraded the front and rear metal differentials. Which the spur gear ruins the run.

Mate, that spur gear was absolutely hammered! Wow! And couldn't be 100% sure how decent the armature still is, but I'd deffo try a new bearing first. Awesome new spur! Take her up to 6s, mate! LOL. Great upload, my friend!😁👍

Did you get it back together? I read somewhere that with the metal spur we need an extra plastic disc as a shim, because the metal one is thinner. Is that correct? Perhaps it slips too much without it? I got a metal spur with my Typhon, but didn't install it yet.

Yeah I got it back together and I didn't shim anything with the metal spur gear and I had no problems other than I keep burning out motors. But as far as the gears go everything seems to be working properly.

@@anotherrcdude1552 OK, thanks! Burning motors? Are you running a big pinion? It is always the bearing? I was thinking about going from 15T to 18T to stay on the safe side. I did see some nice surpass rocket V2 3665 motors, 3150kv or 3800kv, for reasonable prices. Is your motor mount bending? Or maybe the mesh to tight?

Have you tried using upgraded motor bearings? I got some from a guy off eBay for $12USD and I’ve been beating the daylights out of my Vorteks, with the faster pinion gear that came with it, and the motor is probably the only thing I haven’t broke yet 🤣

Remove 3 screws on the bottom, pull the drive shaft back (spring loaded) and remove, slide the red piece to the side (likely will need a flat head screwdriver to wedge in and start prying out), pull the tab up and forward at the back of the gear box to release, pull the gearbox forward (likely will need to pry with a flat head again), unscrew the 3 screws holding the gearbox case together and open.
