One Year As A Country Club Member | Should I Join A Country Club To Level Up? My Personal Experience

  • In this video I am sharing our personal experience as country club members for the past year as well as some insights that may be helpful if you are asking the question, "Should I join a country club?". This will include sharing the pros and cons that we have found so far as members! I honestly never thought that I would ever be a country club member until my husband took up a serious interest in golf. It was not previously my style, but so much has changed!
Here is a little bit more info about our process to join that you may find helpful:
    - We joined our club in Spring of 2020 as junior members under a full family membership. We have access to every amenity.
    - We had to supply letters of recommendation and have a current member refer us as part of the application process.
    - We joined primarily for my husband to have convenient and quality access to golf.
    - We live the closet to the club we joined, it had availability under junior membership at the time, and fit our budget once we dropped our other gym memberships and studio memberships, which were our main deciding factors.
    Thanks for watching!
    - Leisha

Thank you for watching! I hope that you are having a fantastic week! Have you considered joining a country club? Are you already a member? Do you think it's worthwhile to join?

Joining a country club has been on the forefront of my mind lately. I work as a biologist right now, and one of the partners of the company I work for is a country club. I visit several times a week to discuss the flora and fauna of their grounds (also they let me golf for free lol). They are amazing for wanting to support and increase the local wildlife. I’m preparing to move into a different role (biodata) in my company. Once I get that promotion, I’d love to join one. Thanks for talking about your experience!

I was part of a country club for a bit over a year, we left because I noticed a lot of members had substance abuse issues with alcohol and the club environment facilitated this. Some pros were my husband was able to play in a tournament in LA he has dreamt of playing in.

We are thinking about doing this in the next year with an upcoming move. My 7 year old son is learning golf, and my husband plays. The kids do swimming, and think it might be a good way to meet other families with similar interests.

I have to mention (and I hope you do not get offended), when I first started watching your videos I found them quite boring and I don’t know why, HOWEVER, I have noticed a huge difference in the way that you talk, it’s way nicer to watch your videos now and you seem more elegant. Any changes you have been making DO show, so keep it up!

I’m not a member of a club as of now, but when I lived in Nigeria, I had friends that belonged to certain clubs and the caliber of people there were like OMG😮, powerful people. So, I agree with this video, joining a club (or country club) is worth it. Your network is your net-worth.

I think people are no longer interested in joining clubs after they already got a job and working full-time, so joining clubs may not always be necessary

Would it be strange to join a country club as a single female? I know that a lot of people in the comments section are married so I thought it would be good to ask.

Before I got married, I was a member of an art museum. It was very social, I joined for a lot of the same reasons.

Thank you for sharing your insights! A lot of what you said resonated with me. For my husband and I, we are considering joining a club to meet others. We moved from across the country and it’s been hard to find other young families with similar interests. I also like the idea of being able to host there as it’s a lot easier than hosting at home sometimes. We also live in a resort area with lots of great golf. I was hesitant to join because I didn’t want to be beholden to golfing at one place when there’s so many great courses. That said I think we will try joining as social members first. That membership allows you to golf 6 times/year. That way my husband can still play at other courses and we won’t feel like we’re wasting money.

Thanks for another great video! Do you think that having older people in your country club friends group can be an advantage because they are good connections and can mentor you?
