Poland's last game against Argentina. Mario Kempes 2 v Poland 0. I remember the 1978 World Cup. I was a young boy and devastated. I thought that the Polish national team would repeat the success of 1974 or more because the team had a lot of good players. 1982 very good third place, after Italy without much difficulty defeated the Polish team 2-0 (Semis), and both goals were scored by Paolo Rossi 🏆
In 1981 the Poles went to Berlin with their own provisions and their own cook. In 1979, in the qualifying rounds for the European Championship, Germany poisoned the Poles and won the match 2: 1. The matter was silenced because they were "friendly" nations then, but the coaching staff was not fooled by the same trick for the second time.
I didn't know anything about it, but it doesn't seem strange to me. It is normal that the second time they take action on it. I think there was also a certain rivalry between the two teams in those years. I think that rivalry came from the final of the Olympics in Montreal 76 where the East Germans beat the Poles 3 - 1
@@lokismig For Poland matches against Russia and Germany are always more than regular match... It's more like soccer "holy war" :-) And in 1981 it was extremely political competition between Poland and East Germany. Both countries were at that time in Communist Bloc but in Poland it was the time of "Solidarity" revolution (1980-1981) and East Germans were the "best communist" in the bloc. In that time East Germans were terrified of "Solidarity" infection. So East Germans didn't like the Poles and the Poles didn't like East Germans. It was real "cold war" in Communist Bloc. Victory in Leipzig in 1981 is a real legend in Poland.

on paper the best team was 78 but they failed due to certain politics, some people accused members of the team of taking bribes, it was a very shady situation , who knows what happened, but when it comes to the human material it was really great team, it was the team that had best players, from both 74 and 82 teams, many experts were giving it great odds and listing us as potential winners of upcoming mundial
1982 team was great but we thing that 3 place was well deserved and we were generally happy with it

Ese partido Alemania del Este - Polonia, con comentarios en español de Toni Lara, le pudimos ver en la 2 de TVE un sábado por la tarde. Tengo muy buenos recuerdos de aquel encuentro. Aunque todavía quedaba jugar en casa contra Malta (Polonia ganaría ese partido 6 - 0) con el triunfo ante la DDR estaba ya virtualmente clasificada para el Mundial.

And then they won bronze medal at the 1982 World Cup in Spain beating France 3:2. In 1974 World Cup they also won bronze medal beating Brazil 1:0. In the 70’s and up to mid 80’s it was one of the top teams in Europe which qualified for 4 World Cups in a row (1974-1986) and strangely enough they never qualified for Euro Cup in that period. In fact it wasn’t until 2008 when they made their first ever appearance at Euro.
In Poland we used to explain it by saying, that it was much harder to qualify to Euros than to World Cup
in '82 for third place was actually silver medal. Bronze medal got france for 4th place
I'm a Pole and that's clearly not an offside after first goal for Germans. Right back stayed offside and even when the pass was made you could see that he wasn't off. Commentator is talking shit too. They are showing frame when the ball almost came to the striker and he says it's clearly 1,5m offside, when the ball was played like 2 seconds before. Good thing we have to argue nowadays about nose size of the striker using VAR. That times were so random tbh. XD

What happened against Malta with those protests?
In Poland's second goal a linesman raised the flag indicating a Polish player offside, but it was positional and that player did not intervene in the play of the goal. That is why the referee validated the goal. It was a legal goal!

Mecz z NRD 2:25 - nie było spalonego. Beznadziejny Ciszewski patrzy na moment strzału, a nie na moment podania. W ogóle takie czasy przaśne - na Malcie, niby cywilizowanym Zachodzie, dzicz na trybunach, jakieś boisko z dziwną nawierzchnią i czarno-białe słupki z poprzeczką (we Wrocławiu jeszcze kwadratowe). A na Śląskim narożniki boiska nachodzą na bieżnię :)
Bzdura. W życiu bym się nie podjął oceniania z tej kamery czy był spalony, czy nie. A dodatkowo wielki znawco piłki nożnej wtedy przepisy odnośnie spalonego były inne. Zawodnik atakujący musiał być wyraźnie w linii przed obrońcą. Nawet nie mógł być w w zbliżonej linii prostej z obrońcą. Takie były wtedy przepisy i Niemiec nawet nie protestował.
@@yosar6107 Może masz rację z tym spalonym i ówczesnymi przepisami, co nie zmienia faktu, że Ciszewski patrzy na moment strzału i mówi o półtorametrowym spalonym i to jest najzabawniejsze. Bo ja mogę nie znać przepisów z tamtych lat, ale on powinien ogarniać, skoro komentuje. Także nie wywyższaj się tutaj za bardzo, tylko dokładnie obejrzyj ten fragment, a potem się wypowiadaj.

Well, this is from the beginning of the 80s and it was less frequent, but in the 70s most of the qualifying groups in Europe were made up of three teams and therefore there were only 4 games to reach the World Cup.

En Sudamérica ahora es distinto, es mucho más duro, evidentemente, pero ten en cuenta que clasifican cuatro o cinco selecciones. Incluso alguna más puede acceder al repechaje. Sin embargo, antes los grupos sudamericanos eran también de tres selecciones y podían ser realmente fáciles, como por ejemplo este para el mismo Mundial 82: Grupo 1 (Brasil, Bolivia, Venezuela)
