Not sure how you convert cruise control to a non cruise column. You might be able to move your cruise control lever to the old column. That would require taking it all apart to get wiring run through it. Not positive it would work because I have never done it.

I love the stepside trucks. This is a pretty difficult task but if you take your time and lay all the parts in a row as you take them out it can be done. Getting a manual that has a good parts diagram would also help.
Please make a video to depict this..... These instructions are for the 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala (Eighth generation) Turn Signal Cancelling Cam replacement. Once you use a PowerBuilt Streering Wheel Removal Set RENTAL from AutoZone to remove the steering wheel, after you removed the airbag, then you must use "snap-ring pliers" to remove the snap-ring from the Steering Air Coil Kit GM part # 26089982, 26088931, or 26092622 aka "Clock Spring". The next step is that one must use the Lisle 57340 Steering Wheel Lock Plate Tool and a small vicegrip to compress the turquoise/emerald spring, which pop the "Lock Plate Ring" GM part # 05694191 up from the lock plate. You can use picks - mine were from AutoZone - to move the lock plate ring from the lock plate... Once removed, then you'll be able to slide the "Turn Signal Cancelling Cam" GM part # 26086061 off the "Upper Steering Shaft" GM part # 26064247. You must be very careful NOT to disrupt the connection of the "Bearing Spring Set" GM part # 15231641 and "Bearing Kit" GM part # 26001827 from the "Upper Steering Shaft" GM part # 26064247.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.

When you lost that bolt yeah you're probably right it's really far down inside there but at AutoZone up by the cash register that they have these telescopic magnet tools that look like the antenna on a car they extend, that might get the bolt - or a magnet on a string

2 QUESTIONS..1ST Wasnt there suppose to be a lock clip that goes on after you torqued the steering nut? and 2nd. how did you loosen the wiring harness to give it more slack? Good Job on fixing your problem.2 thumbs up.
There might be a little clip for that nut but someone must have just left it off at some point. I don't see the nut backing off. Been awhile since I did this video but I think I show the wiring part.
Hi man I broke the 2 shaft bearing I bought the replacement part but I don’t know how to remove the old bearing , can you help me ?
Are you sure the bearings are bad? Or do you have loose bolts like in this video?
Where did you buy the replacement bearings at?
Great video
Is it the same process for a c1500?
As far as I know the 1500 and 3500 are the same.
Wish you would have shown the re-assembly
Did you get the brights fixed?
Yup, somebody didn't have the rod on the switch right. Or the plastic piece wasn't sitting right. Either way the high beams work now. I don't know how anybody can drive down the road with the steering wheel flopping around. I couldn't go two days without fixing it.
Good Job
What is the little skeleton key copper thingy that is half plastic but positively in my hand, 100% broken. Treading in quicksand over here ;-(
Please - anyone???
I would love to help but it's been so long since I did this I don't remember most of it. I would have to pull another one apart to remember.
@@mossman381 thank you for replying :) it is actually the ignition key warning buzzer thing. LOL that most folks don't care to hear. Expensive sucker too!
The steering was very loose on my 91 from factory. From 91 to 98 I dealt with it and now i no longer own the truck i am always oversteering still ffs. Put 600,000km on that truck
This column is super tight now. It still needs some ball joints and maybe some steering parts but the column is tight.
Wow I need this done on my 90 Chevy step side I don’t think I’d be able to put it back together lol
I love the stepside trucks. This is a pretty difficult task but if you take your time and lay all the parts in a row as you take them out it can be done. Getting a manual that has a good parts diagram would also help.
Very helpful thank you!
I feel drunk watching this disassembly and I'm not even drinking..

The special tool to take off pivot name plis saludos from mexico good video
Don't know the name. It's a steering column pin puller.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
your horn doesnt work because there is supposed to be a wire running from your horn button down to the round plastic tube on the column
I know. I made a piece of wire and got the horn working. Someone was in the column and left pieces out.
Nice Vids :)
Thanks
I have done this and now my truck strangely has no power. Battery is brand new.
Thank you!
Gracias por tu vídeo asi le voy hacer a mi auto que esos tornillo estan flojos
You know I watch these videos how he's people take everything apart what pisses me off about it they don't show you how everything go back together I got this pressure plate that I'm trying to get back on I cannot figure it out I took pictures how I took it apart I had no parts left when I put it back together now I can't get the pressure plate back on please somebody help me it's driving me crazy
If you can't put something back together after you take it apart then you probably should stop taking stuff apart. Not trying to be a smart ass but just a suggestion.
When you lost that bolt yeah you're probably right it's really far down inside there but at AutoZone up by the cash register that they have these telescopic magnet tools that look like the antenna on a car they extend, that might get the bolt - or a magnet on a string
WHAT A NIGHTMARE NEVER GOT THAT FAR
You don’t have a steering wheel nut retainer clip!🇺🇸
This is also good for 1990 gmc s15
I took it off and I can’t get it back on😡
Do what I say to do in the video. Just be VERY CAREFUL starting the truck with everything apart.
At this point I'm just changing out the whole steering column
I've got a GMC horn button if you still need one.
This truck was actually a Chevy. Someone put a GMC nose on it. If you keep going in the playlist of this truck, you will see that video.
I want more of the dog please
He has his own playlist on my channel.
mine's an 89 2500
Holy shit I think I'd rather replace the whole Calum than go through this cirus.
Columns for these are in the 250-300 range local to me. I thought about that but I'm bout to tear into one.
IVE BEEN AT THIS SHIT FOR 2 WEEKS AND STILL NOT EVEN CLOSE
This is not easy. Take it as slow as you need.
@@mossman381 this is going so slow i think im going in reverse

God!! Sorry but you must do zoom more the video.
Good job doesnt look fun
I broke my horn piece going back together. also somehow the spring that works the steering lock had jumped out of place and it took me quite a spell finding the correct location of it. You did a jam up job of cleaning up everything. Great video Great job.
Great video
Thanks!
