Thanks for the overview of this lovely boat. The enthusiasm of the presenter was infectious. I absolutely loved this boat and think it would be great on the French canal system as well. I love barges but find narrow boats too cramped, but this is totally amazing. Well done Finesse. I'm sure it's outside my price bracket but I can dream.

Well , I had an appointment at Crick and went on board.
I wouldnt swap if for my boat , the owner is never gonna know a minutes peace as all and sundry ask a 1000 questions the minute they pop their head outside.
I was impressed though with the brought on shoe wrap machine for dirty feet going on board.
Lets be honest its a floating marina apartment for Limehouse basin.

Absolutely lovely craft, pretty well thought out, and it does lend to the future of canal boating. I for one, would not use it on a canal, i would be more prone to trying the Norfolk Broads with it, and keep it moored there. As for design, well done, i would change two things if i were to buy one, first, the Helm area, i would have it enclosed with a slider mechanism that locks securely, to keep all the equipment dry and safe in winter months, and also have the actual controls panel able to rotate, so it stays out of view when parked up and locked up. Finally, in the master bedroom, three wardrobe doors to the front, i would take or use the middle one as a Front exit point with stairs behind going to the top deck. Alternative wardrobe space could probably be found to alleviate the loss of one wardrobe space.

Stunning boat. I especially liked the steps up onto the roof. Why other wide beam builders do not do that always surprised me. The exposed wheel area seemed to be a sunny windless day sailing place only. It does just shows what you can do if you think out of the box.

  • @douglashornell-scott5126
    @douglashornell-scott5126 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Truly stunning and a very very refreshing take on the wide beam. The workmanship is outstanding and far more reminiscent of small yacht builds than the typical barge build. It would be interesting to see whether underfloor heating was available thus reducing the need for visible radiators and perhaps the use of incinerator toilets? I suppose this type of build would be bespoke in all senses so assume this could be done. All subject to the budget. Fantastic.

A beautiful boat, but with a major flaw. There is only one way in/out of the vessel, and that's at the stern. It would have been a great idea to have had an exit to the bow, manly for safety reasons and of course for easier moorings. One other point,, is the weed hatch very low to get to, as the decking seems pretty high on the stern.

There is an exit at the bow (escape hatch). On a typical Widebeam there is a lowered deck area at the bow. This normally takes up around 9-10 feet, as well as steps into the boat. Giving a total loss at the bow of around 12 feet.
To make the best use of space inside the boat we negated steps and kept the deck high. If the desire was there and the design could afford ~1200mm diameter we could incorporate a spiral staircase out of the master bedroom.

I was noticing the footprints already showing on that decking - it would be one of those things you have to continually run around cleaning up ! It's pretty gorgeous, but I distinctly get the feeling you will need 'staff' to use this happily !

i often think how these boats could have more tricky extra options incorporated into them from watching how the Americans do their RV busses.

Great video and nice to see someone designing boat all electric now and that's the way to go I would say and no fuel costs at all but the question is qhats the cost of the boat but a very well idea and design

Very nice hybrid boat. Does the waste heat from the generator heat the hot water on board?

It does indeed, as does excess solar via an immersion heater.

Realistically it’s for the French Rivera not for the U.K. canals. I think it’s got as much charm as a ford transit van

Nice start for your channel, but you really need to sort out the audio. Wireless collar mike would make for consistent levels and echo reduction.

In order to "sail"...wouldn't one need a "mast" with a "sail" on it?

Lovely looking boat and superb quality, but its out of place on the UK network. Ideally it should be on the European networks where it would look more at home, and have the style and class to stand out amongst equals. Plus the solar system would really come into its own. Enjoyed the presentation and a peak at what can be done when money is not the main priority. Cheers

Stunning. Not sure about the keyless entry. Would anyone else be worried mooring this up in town? I fear this mobile Palace would be vandalised just because it looks so out of place. I certainly hope not, but I am a worrier and feel that other people stop me having nice things like this.

So how many hours cruising before you have to tie up and let the solar recharge the batteries ?
Not criticizing I'm just curious ?
Not my taste inside but it was designed for someone specific & I would choose differently.
I also think a bit big for the majority of UK canals but would definitely be more at home on the European canal network which are much larger.

It depends on the speed, at normal cruising speed 3-4mph, the battery would last around 12-15 hours cruising assuming no sun. On a good summers day the solar would provide 40-50% charge per day.

Without having to bother them via their website, what is the price of one of those, on average kinda?..or a starting price for a basic model?..
