I just had my big toenail removed. Basically the podiatrist told me to soak it in epsom salt for 15 min 2x a day, dry it then put triple antibiotic ointment on it and bandage it for a week. So many different takes on post op instructions.
well most of our dr’s IN PERSON are saying epsom salt and soak it etc. the vids say otherwise lol listen to your dr bc every vid i see someone say their dr said use epsom salt soaking and use a bandage and apply triple antibiotic to avoid infection so do what your dr told you
during the procedure only thing that hurt was the numbing injections. but once the numbness injection went away it was worse than hell, i have been experiencing immense amount of pain in my toes. this was the only time i cried out of physical pain
I’m watching this after just getting the procedure done- my podiatrist told me to use polysporin(basically neosporin) eye drops or ear drops on the area after the soak. Mentioning this because it could be a supplement for the benefits of an ointment?
Tomorrow will be a week out since I had my whole toenail removed and I’m still taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen every 6 hours. If I wait, my toe is very sore and I can’t walk on my foot
This depends on the type of procedure you had. Pools have a slightly higher risk than showers, even though they are chlorinated because of other people being in the pool.

If there is drainage, I don’t like to put an ointment on because it can clog up the area
Ok, thank you for that input. Do you recommend a non stick pad for big toe avulsion over gauze due to possible sticking?

I had a partial chemical matrixectony a few days ago on both big toes.

post op pain can sometimes linger, always check with your doctor consider pemf for pain
Usually two weeks -check with your doctor

Is it normal that I still feel numb on some part of my toes after 3 days after my ingrown is removed?

Which oral antibiotic should be taken after nail avulsion?? Cephalexin or augmentin???
No general answer there, it depends on what organisms are trying to be covered and the risk factors for the patient.
