This game is probably the most I've been impresed by Ridder. There's a lot of reasons Cincy lost this game, and very few were because of him. He was calm, he was poised. He was spot on with his accuracy most of the game. That wheel route over Battle in the endzone was a thing of beauty. He moved the offense against Bama but some tough breaks and the Alabama Dline just overwhelming the Cincy Oline made it so they couldnt get in the endzone. But that's not on Ridder. I think the one thing that stands out the most, as a weakness, Ridder's game is clearly one of all around value. He doesn't do anyone thing amazing, but he does everything really well, but his ball can sail. On that first drive he has number 12 for a TD and the ball gets too high. I thought at first it was a drop, but Ridder sailed it. There's a third down at the end of the second half that he sails on his receiver that could of picked up a first down. I can absolutely see why NFL teams would value this kid, I'm just not sure what the ceiling is here. If he hasn't already reached it at Cincinnati. I see a Teddy Bridgewater type. Fringe starter, who will play well and give you a chance if he is or a really elite backup that any team would love to have. I think he is going to have to really hone in on that accuracy, make that his calling card in the NFL if he wants a chance to be at a higher level than that. He also, in some ways reminds me of where Dak Prescott was as a rookie, and now Dak puts up some huge passing numbers, so there is hope for Ridder for sure. Thanks for the videos, man! Love being able to breakdown some of these players!
I think people have been way too hard on him in this game. This was a game where Cincinnati was overmatched in every regard, but they didn’t get blown out nearly as bad many SEC opponents Bama plays. Hell, it was a pretty close game for 3 quarters. With that being said, his accuracy is still pretty inconsistent. He had a few great plays that didn’t end up counting in the stat sheet, but he also let some stuff on the table. Which is a pretty good summary of Ridder as a prospect.
I was at the game sitting in the cinci side. Definitely did not enough to help his team win. I will admit he did do decent against a very good Bama squad but all the throws he completed were short dump off passes where he let the receiver or RB do the work, he didn’t make the big throws on third and fourth downs too. Multiple cinci fans told me that’s the most uncomfortable he’s ever looked in his whole career there.
His accuracy is average to be honest. He missed some crucial throws in this game that could have prolonged drives and avoided field goals. He wasn’t getting much help from his o-line but some of the plays he just needed to get the ball out of his hands to avoid a sack.
All the Falcons fans who want to see this guy over Mariota…they look identical. Sacked 6 times, barely over 50% completion rate, 17/32 for 144 with no TDs. Ridder sails throws bad! He looks less athletic too and that will be needed with our O-line lmao. I can’t see how he will be an upgrade when we have a bad pass pro O-line to start with. Unfortunately we gone ride the season out with Mariota and prepare to build the team more through the draft and free agency.
This is Ridders toughest competition and worst game. Alabama completely outclasses Cincinnati in talent. You can’t expect a QB to play well if he doesn’t even have time to throw the ball. When he did have time to throw the ball he threw two absolute dimes. Mariota with time has missed countless receivers this season.
I really can't tell whats wrong with him. Idk if its the system or ol. Seems to not trust some reads. His team seems to fail him on plays they should make
This was a very poor game by someone considered to be a 1st round prospect. Beyond it just being a bad game against a great Alabama team, I do have some legitimate gripes with Ridder as a prospect and his skillset. First things first, he doesn't do a good job handling pressure. At the next level if you can't handle making good decisions and accurate throws with pressure coming at you, you won't be able to succeed. Dealing with pressure is inevitable in the NFL with so many good pass rushers to deal with and teams blitzing to make things tough. Ridder does not do a good job at all of being able to make a throw to someone that isn't his first read. Now yes I know that the gameplan Cincinnati had was probably to make quick throws to beat the pressure, but even then the gameplan wasn't all that successful. Staring down recievers with your first read in the NFL will get you into a lot of trouble, you have to be able to look off defenders like linebackers and safeties at the next level. Too many of Ridder's passes ended up being deflected, no pump fake action at all and no spotting defenders in the passing lane very well. In the NFL those tipped passes at the line can turn into interceptions pretty easily. He relies on his mobility a lot to get himself out of jams. His o-line may have been overmatched, but if he's a smart player like is reported from his meetings with teams he should be more willing to find his outlet recievers to give then a chance at yards after the catch, like at 4:30 when he has an outlet pass open over the middle with Alec Pierce but he doesn't take it and as a result takes a sack.

Pierce was cooking smh
7:06 dropped beer in the back :P
OLine just cannot contain Alabama
the amount of times Desbum Ridder missed Alec Pierce in this game. Dude could have easily had a 5/75/1 night with a good QB
Hes a damn gd qb with down syndrome
No he would not with that terrible OLine and Alec butter fingers Pierce dropped two passes and one was a touchdown 🤣🤣🤣

offensive line. He's trying to limit bama's pass rush with quick throws - but cincy def does not have the route runners for that.
its time man
i’m tired of seeing Pitts getting bad throws
Lol Falcons O-line will have him on his ass.

He would’ve had a touchdown if that guy didn’t drop the ball
Corral def better 😂
