      How do you make instruments to stick together (glue) so well with each other in a mix? I know it's probably eq related but I wanna know if there's anything else you could say about it.

    • @RebelKicks-mn4kc
      @RebelKicks-mn4kc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Camilo Hernandez I know you’re asking Keyan specifically, but I feel like I have a decent opinion on this. For me, what makes them glue together is actually everything before I mix. I make sure my signal going into my interface or amp is as clean as possible, I make sure my parts are recorded as perfectly as I can record them, and I always make sure my tones sound good on their own. Good arrangement helps as well. You could have the best tones in the world but the parts need to fit together. Those things will get you 90% of the way there. The mixing part is just the fine tuning tool if that makes sense

      LOL Was that a late April Fool's joke? Because Amped Roots came out exactly a year ago.
      You've been busy shilling premium plugins that you've missed all the amazing free amp sims of 2020.

      Hey keyan, you do a tremendous job of teaching us so many things. However, could you also tell us more about making tones if you have a low end guitar and not guitars like you have. Like a high end guitar you know😅

    For those of you less than morally inclined, Reaper doesn’t stop working after the “60 Day Evaluation” is over, it just reminds you they’d like some money for their hard work developing one of the best and most affordable DAW’s in the game.

    First off, thank you so much for doing this, I learn a lot from you ! I just downloaded these exact plugins and did what you said. It defiently sounds better that the amps I used before. BUT I've been struggling for sooo long to get a decent tone out of my guitar. Still when I try to groove to a drumbeat it sounds muffled and doesn't fit.
    I have a theory about it might not be the plugins or my signal, but my guitar. I use a stratocaster mexican. I know that's not an ideal guitar for metal. I've tried everything so I might need to get a new guitar before I can play rock music.
    It would be cool if you one day showed exactly how you mix your guitars so it fits with the drums and in the mix.

    • @GrayKeyboard
      @GrayKeyboard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      stratocasters are fine for metal even single coils don't sound terrible
      the issue is probably somewhere else lol

    • @Rushtallica
      @Rushtallica 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 possible things I can think of right away: 1) When I plug my guitar directly into my audio interface, it doesn't sound as good as when I either plug into a tubescreamer or another pedal that is NOT true bypass and that has a good buffer -- even if I don't turn the pedal on -- or if I plug into a D.I. (a direct box). I got a cheap Livewire active direct box, something like $50 new at the local Guitar Center, and it makes a noticeable difference when plugging into that and then into the sound card. 2) I have a MiM strat from 2008 that has a humbucker and 2 single coils, and it's fine for metal. But if the bridge pickup is also a single coild and you want a hotter pickup, it can be replaced by either swapping out the single coil to something like the Seymour Duncan JB Jr (I put one in a different strat guitar), which is a single coil-sized humbucker that sounds great IMO, or you could take the pickguard off and make sure the guitar is routed to have space to fit a humbucker (I'm pretty sure the MiM strats likely all are able to). Then you could change the pickguard and add a full size humbucker in the bridge, wired in with the single coils. Anyway, IMO because you say it sounds muffled, I think the first thing I mentioned might be the root cause, as strat single coils tend to be bright instead of muffled. And making sure to turn the overdrive pedal plugin on. A last thing; sometimes you need to adjust the input on the audio interface. It might help to turn the gain up enough where it's slightly clipping occasionally when playing hard.

    What I don't like about ML Sound Labs is the fact that it's mono only. Why? I find it infuriating having to copy and paste the amp sim to my doubled guitar whenever I make changes to one side. I want both sides 100% the same. Every other plugin in my chain is stereo except this one.
    Also the guitar tone is about 50% of your mix. Your mix sounds huge because of the well produced drums and bass tone. I wish more people would realize this before asking why their mix isn't sounding huge.

    • @butcher_0392
      @butcher_0392 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dual tracking is much better in most cases.
      You can achieve super thick guitar tones with only 2 guitar tracks, quad tracking will only work in a few situations where songs are super slow and do not require much skill when playing riffs.
