Australia government ordered the ADF to increase to 80.000 regular personnel. And 25.000 reserves.
At the moment Australia government is doing a full review on ADF needs and is the review is to be by march 2023.
      The review will require
      Upgrading all military base.
Manufacturing our own missile and bombs under licence.
      Cyber warfare drones ect.
Long strike capability. This includes our own defence satellites long range missile over the horizon strike capability.
9 ships such as type 26 modified to Australia needs for submarine hunters and build 3 more spanish f100 class air warfare destroyers for a total of 6 and requing 8 nuclear powerd submarines from the USA. Including buiing corvettes for OPV and converting Australia new Awafra class to mine hunters. Purchasing Under sea mutants such as new advanced mines. AH 64E Apache helicopters with hellfire missile to replace the tigers.
New missile for the navy such as SM6 LSRAM and tomahawks and NSM ect
Land base missile NASAMS. And builing an upgraded patriot missile defence systems. HIMARS for the Army Including replacement for the M113AS4 Armored Personnel Carrier possibly be the German Lynix as it offers similar protection as the Abrams. K9 thunder 155mm self propelled artillery tanks from south Korea to be built locally in Australia. NGRAD 6th generation aircraft upgrade to replace the super hornets. This been looked into by several platforms. Unmanned and manned aircraft such as stealth MQ28 ghost bat. US unnamed 6th generation air superiority aircraft. Or the British Tempest. Long range strike bombers armed with stand of hypersonic missiles. Either B21 stealth bombers if available for purchase or a larger bomber version platform of MQ 28 ghost bat that's been developed in Australia by Boeing Australia.
Australia defence is looking into swarm of drones with AI for reconnaissance for land sea and air. Land attack and over the horizon strike capability to be able to strike into deep into the south China Sea to take away China strike capability against Australia. Billions of dollars has already been spent on defence. And many billions more will be spent.
Back in early 2009 under Labor government that was coalition with the green government at the time cut 14.9 billion dollars in defence and cancelled many defence projects. This set Australia back on defence. Responsible for that was ex prime minister Kevin Rudd who is now Australian ambassador to USA and his successor Julia Gillard who had put Australian military in shambles. The Labor government today under Anthony Albanese and defence minister Richard Marles isn't coalition with the green government who had great influence on previous Labor government when it was in office. Australia is a small country of only 26.5 million people on a land size area mainland of USA. But our history has proven that our defence can punch above our own weight. And Australia is ready to back USA at any time of need.

Guess it means we look at an upgrade package for the ASLAV and/or M113/AS4. They're still functional vehicles although not Ukraine-Russia War ready. The question becomes who has the ability to land sufficient high end armoured vehicles to defeat our M1A2 Sep v3's and Redbacks, and then the backup ASLAV's and M113's.
The theories behind that decision are multiple.
One, as an island spending extra on navy would be beneficial because sinking transport ships with either surface vessels or more likely submarines might be better bang for buck and better power projection. It's not like the British Navy didn't prove the effectiveness of that strategy for the last 350 years or so.
Two, drone combat capabilities versus tanks and IFV's are currently a real threat. It might be better looking at how other nations go with their alternative defences rather than going all in on one strategy that may not work.
Three, we can amend an order to add more units a lot more easily than deduct units, or potentially add a new variant or add in Lynx's or whatever to diversify capability.
Four, we're probably going to need to invest heavily in optionally manned vehicles.
Five, we're probably going to need to buy close range Armoured Air Defence Weaponry like a modern version of the Gepard to take out drones. If they happen to be able to aim down to -3 degrees or so they'll do a fairly good job as an IFV even if it might be considered a \/\/ar Cr|me to use them in an antipersonnel role. But I'm sure we'd only use them in an anti materiel role, right? :D
Reality is the learnings from Russia-Ukraine will be coming for some years. But right now, large surface targets look like money pits, but lightly armoured stuff and infantry is drone fodder too. We can't throw lots of people away as the ADF struggles to recruit, so long range missiles are a better deterrent than untested IFV's are.

Hey mate, love the video you seam to have a passion and know what your talking about, I did pick up a few things though, dont mean to be a dick or anything, but they F88 Austeyr from what I know is being replaced by the EF88(what is shown in the photos) the F89 is a minimi 5.56X45mm LMG. Also the photo you showed for the M72 LAW is an NLAW they are 2 diffrent things, the Hi-Power from what I know being being replaced by the Sig P320 and also a 6.8x51mm NATO bullpup rifle from what I also understand is being tested. You did forget a few weapons, one being the HK417 that is the DWM, the the gernade luncher they use on the steyr rifles is the SL40 i think its 40mm not sure, anyways apart from the small things you did very well, if I didnt know anything I could walk away from this video learning new things, I mean to be honest one thing I did know was that the M1A1 was being replaced, I also didnt know that the ASLAV was made in Australia and Canada, I wonder what varent of the LAV is the base model, do you know anything about that?

What we need now, which the Ukraine has taught us, are a load of long-range missiles, Drones, and a huge increase in the number of infantry battalions.
We have around 7 infantry battalions now, 1 RAR, 2 RAR, 3 RAR, 4 RAR, 5 RAR, 6RAR, 7 RAR. 4RAR being a commando unit. Need to increase to at least 11 infantry battalions Regular Army. And I think 8/9 RAR still exists in Queensland.

All of our capital cities and large regional centres each need an 8 to 48 cell vertical launch Aegis air defence system firing RIM-66 and RIM-174 surface to air missiles, as well as Anti-ship Harpoon missile systems. Australia also needs to start working on a defence against hypersonic missiles. America seems to have found a solution to it. We need what they're building ASAP.

They refused our F/A18's said they weren't good enough. They're saying the same about US F-16 now.
They can start buying their own gear if they're gonna be expecting everyone else's toys when they're still being offered better gear than their enemy for free.

As an aussie, I don't see many enemies need the country to maintain the military of this size, we sent troops to PNG and East Timor for peacekeeping, and that's about it.

the content is great but could use a different person to voice over. His crocky voice tappers off at the end of every sentence and why is there a need to repeat "Australian Army" every other sentence....the going was tough to watch the whole presentation.

A lot of quality information. But did you just wake up after a hard night, have a choof, and attempt to read without your glasses? From talking through your nose to guttural sounds, I had to stop watching.

Since February 24, Ukraine has been allocated more than $ 75 billion!! Admittedly, this is a lot.
    Question: Where are they?????
At the moment, Russia is formally at war with the NATO bloc, which suddenly began having problems with weapons, an economic crisis broke out that has not been for 40 years.
During the 4 months of the war, Russia destroyed 95% of Ukrainian weapons, more than 150 thousand soldiers.
Now this figure is already more than 300 thousand dead… Every third serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a foreign mercenary.
The entire annual military budget of the Russian Federation is about $ 65 billion.
At the same time, Russians today live the best in the world, how does this even happen?
Judge for yourself, Russia has the cheapest gas, oil, electricity, food, Internet, transport... and even medicine is free. And at the same time, they are in no hurry.
    I understand nothing…
I'm tired of lying journalists... Why is there no Russian view of what is happening in Ukraine? Why are we blocking them? Or is democracy over?

    • @mattamier6670
      @mattamier6670  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah I agree the truth and democracy seems to be failing, but I have hope that Russia will not fully subdue Ukraine. It's stupid because Europe is actually buying Russian gas, but just from other countries that bought it from Russia for example China. I have no doubt that within the next 20 years a magor world changing event will happen, like a world war or a civil war in the west, Mabey both.

You got one thing right, you clearly said, "I understand nothing". This is very true, you understand nothing. I really liked the bit about Russians living the best in the world. That made me laugh aloud. There is a strong possibility that anyone reading your comments will think you are an idiot.

lol you just spreading lies you lil child.. everything you say.
Foreign mercs do not make up 1 in every 3 in Ukraine.. total BS.
West and world were seeing financial crisis before the war and was due to covid lockdowns etc.
Your death count is also total BS .. and funny Russia has no troops and so desperate hires from prisons.
Russia live best in the world more BS.. their lives are pretty gross compared to most.
I watch life in Russia after sanctions.. i would feed Russian food to my animals as is disgusting looking. diry food with marks and blemishes. carrotts pale coloured Chicken eggs covered in dirt and Chicken poop.
Grasss is messy and long beside parks and roads etc.
No media on Russian view of Ukraine.. there is 1420 youtube is a Russian.
Also reason is Russia blocked all journalism in Russia except Russian state media and if watch Russian media monitor they show what Russia saids .
Show Russia are Nazi sickos and liars.
