  • These New Australia's Most Lethal Armored Vehicles Shocked Russia /
Australia has succeeded in wielding some of the most powerful weapons any military could boast of, from the most advanced main battle tanks on the ground to submarines underwater and missiles in the air that fly faster than a human can blink. And here’s only the first of them - the Australian Bushmaster, a lethal armored vehicle with a combo of an unbreakable defense and an unstoppable attack that’s enough to protect up to 10 soldiers for three days straight. And complementing this four-wheel-drive beast of a vehicle are several other weapons in the Australian arsenal that soon could win battles for the Australian military and its allies.

Australia is such a great example of how a huge country (almost the size of USA excluding Alaska and the whole of Europe) that's also a continent itself with a tiny population (27 million) can excel in so many different fields and least of all military might - when you look at all those countries with a big population yet nothing much to offer. It shows you that it's not the number of people in your country such as China/Russia or other big populated nations but the actual people living in your country with a stable democratic government no matter how small a population you are is what really makes you a leader in innovation and might. I love my country and I am proud of our achievements for a young tiny populated land called AUSTRALIA....

@@Neo.Altair Here is a piece on our 2017 test..
US-Australia had a successful Mach 8 HiFire 4 hypersonic missile test last week
July 15, 2017 by Brian Wang
The US-Australia Hypersonic International Flight Research Experimentation (HiFIRE) program had at least one successful hypersonic flight at Woomera testing range in South Australia last week. A round of experiments concluded on 12 July, confirmed Australian defense minister Marise Payne.
UQ hypersonics researchers collaborated with the Defence Science and Technology Group (DST Group) and US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Boeing, and BAE Systems for test flights in July 2017. This vehicle is a free-flying hypersonic glider, designed to fly at Mach 8 (8000 km/hr). It is designed to separate from its rocket booster in space and perform controlled manoeuvres as it enters the atmosphere. The test flight was intended to enable learning about how to fly a hypersonic vehicle at high altitude.
BAE Systems Australia said in a statement that “the successful flight trial [was] the most complex of all HIFiRE flights conducted to date”.
The $54m joint initiative involves the US Air Force, Boeing, the Australian Department of Defence’s Defence Science and Technology Group, BAE Systems Australia, and the University of Queensland.

      From Australian Defence site.
The project, titled ‘DART CMP Airframe - a reusable hypersonic platform’, is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that can travel at hypersonic speeds up to Mach 12 (twelve times the speed of sound). It is powered by the SPARTAN hydrogen fuelled scramjet engine.
Scramjets take oxygen from the atmosphere, a fact that reportedly reduces weight by 60 per cent compared to rockets. The development of new high temperature composite materials in this project will enable DART CMP to be reusable, with zero CO2 emissions thanks to the green hydrogen fuel.
The project is expected to deliver a new sovereign manufacturing capability for high temperature oxide-oxide ceramic matrix composites.
The deliverables include a complete UAV airframe including composite aeroshell and aerodynamic control surfaces, flight avionics, and hydrogen fuel system.
Hypersonix Managing Director David Waterhouse said DART CMP is the composite version of the DART AE due for launch in 2023.
“AE stands for Additive Engineering and is the fully 3D printed version out of high temperature alloys that are already available in Australia,” Waterhouse said.
“The type of high temperature composites we require for DART CMP are currently not available here, therefore there is an urgent need to develop these materials in Australia.
“We are thankful that the government acknowledged this gap and responded with accepting our application. We can’t wait to have these materials ready in mid 2025.”
“And we are proud to support three PhD students with this project as well, we need more experts in this developing industry," Hypersonix CTO Michael Smart added.
The University of Southern Queensland’s Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences Executive Director Professor Peter Schubel said the CRC-P success was an exciting step for its ongoing collaboration with Hypersonix Launch Systems.
“The University of Southern Queensland is applying its research expertise in the field of hypersonics and future materials to help realise an innovative mission," Professor Schubel said.
“Our role in the project will be to develop and test the prototype ultra-high temperature composite material needed.
“Our expertise in liquid moulding technologies, automated fibre placement, pultrusion and filament winding capabilities with exotic materials allows us to develop revolutionary structures."
Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing will be used where possible and will be covered by Romar Engineering with Steve Milanoski, ex-SpaceX, leading the steadily growing additive manufacturing team.
The DART CMP UAV will undergo hardware in the loop bench testing as part of flight readiness.
Hypersonix will prepare for project DART CMP starting in July 2022.

Very nice Australia!! 🇦🇺 The US thanks and salutes our Aussie brothers and sisters. Not just for Mad Max, or Mad Max: Fury Road, or even Aunty Donna- you guys are indispensable as friends and allies. The reason our democracies thrive and wield the upper hand on our enemies is the very thing we protect: freedom and prosperity for our people. A kleptocracy- like russia or North Korea- creates a flimsy illusion of strength which works fairly well inside their borders with hyper-nationalist propaganda, garish displays like parading missiles down the streets with grandiose music, and a steady digital montage of their "next-generation" fighter jets and superweapons shown blasting F-22's out of the sky, yet they are nowhere to be seen on a battlefield where Ukrainian MiG-29's have denied them air superiority for 10 months. The "why" is very simple: in a kleptocracy like russia, the huge allocations of funds that were necessary to modernize their Soviet-era military were absorbed at every level by corruption, which is inherently part of their culture. Putin didn't just allow it, he made it fashionable in russia like white Fila tracksuits and chest hair. So whenever their forward-thinking capable engineers present advanced weapons programs, they're accepted, immediately put on display, then all the necessary funding for development, testing, mass-production and (most importantly) training their servicemen and women how to use them if they end up existing disappears into the Bentleys, pet tigers and tacky gold home decor of the heads of each department- and IF you blow the whistle on them, whoever has the closest ties to the Kremlin "falls" out of a 17th story window, and the process repeats itself until nothing works, and no one is actually working to fix the problem ~ Because that would mean admitting the system that lines all their pockets is failing = kleptocracy. It's pathetic. And I'm extremely grateful they're stuck with that system, while we and our allies have functioning societies with very real military strength. No country is without levels of corruption among the wealthy, but we have safeguards to prevent it from becoming the mechanism that controls our future and silences those who stand against it. Ukrainians are literally fighting that system right now= russia, which is why we defend them and welcome them into our alliance against tyranny and evil. Slava Ukraini!!! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦✊️✊️✊️ And God bless the free world 🌎

See the 747 at 2:06 that and a few more of them belong to a Drag Racer friend of mine "Connie" Kaletta. You may remember him from the movie "Heart Like a Wheel" where he is a protagonist in the story. I am not as old as he is but I have known him since the 1960's days of NHRA Top Fuel even back when he ran the SOHC Ford. I welded up the wing struts on his TF car at Gainsville in 87, we had a TIG welder in my trailer to assist with the job.. Watch the movie, it is a true story of the sacrifice Shirley Muldowney went through to become not only a World Champion NHRA TF racer but the first to win two titles and did it back to back, with a lot of help from Ron Tobler and her son John Muldowney. In racing you win together or you lose together.

Australia has since given the Ukraine a total of 90 Bush Master vehicles in a number of variants. It has to be remembered these aim to afford great mobility with speed while providing protection to soldiers from small arms fire up to 7.63mm, grenades, SRAAW, and other threats such as land mines (via it's design) and various other weaponry via its cage protection system. They provide a valuable capability but don't pretend to be something they are not.

The latter usually has a decent Offensive weapon system in addition to it's armour and troop carrying capability. But even then AFV's usually only have squad support weapons and/or a light cannon.
Which is still something the former generally isn't equiped with. At best they might have a MG mount but no cannon, light or otherwise.
