    Today’s video will be showing the Kwikset (KW1) Lishi Pick and Decoder. The content from this video can also be applied to the KW5 version as well. Recently, I made a discovery on how this tool treats the 6-length key pin in Kwikset locks and I will be sharing it with you today!
    If you are not already familiar with the Lishi 2-in-1 Pick and decoder, it does exactly as its name implies. The Lishi tools is excellent for precision picking and once the lock is picked open and left in the “bitted position” you can decode the lock in seconds. With this information a key to the lock can be cut. This is such a powerful tool and I am happy to share it with everyone once again!

    That is a spectacular finding how in the world did you notice that? I think I’ve ran across the same thing I have been able to push that in and not have to pick the sixth pin and I don’t remember the pin length. Wow that might be true all across the board

    Hi, this question is a bit off topic. I am looking to get my own space and depth keys made form a locksmith. I cant seem to find the info I need online - maybe I am searching wrong. But my question is, for a KW1 I know it has 7 depths (5 spaces) so code would be:
    1-1-1-1-1
    2-2-2-2-2, etc
    How many depths does KW5, SC1, SC4 have?? I tried searching for code cards but they seem to not show the data

    • @HelpfulLockPicker

      You can buy them pre made which might be easier. A locksmith in person typically charges about $10 per code cut key.
      Schlage and yale are 0 to 9

    This and the other video you shared are really good info as I’ve just gotten back into the hobby and was wondering about the Lishi tool’s. btw they seem like cheating almost plus though they have a large variety of auto pick’s the pin tumbler selection is kind of limited.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the selection keeps growing though. The Master Lock one just came out for instance

    • @thomasfa18
      @thomasfa18 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding "cheating" in terms of "skill picking" they really are. But that's not what they're designed for, they're a decoding tool for locksmiths.

    Does that mean this won’t work with a #7 kwikset bottom pin (#8 Weiser)?

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it would over lift it for sure. But say you have the lock picked and the plug turned into the bitted position if the tool can't insert all the way likely you are dealing with a seven and you would be able to be able to decode up to that pin. hopefully it would be the last one LOL

    Kwikset has an undocumented 7 cut. This lishi is not going to work with that cut in the key. They deny there is a 7 cut. But as a locksmith, there is.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In reality they aren't used. I like them sometimes because it also throws off some of the bump keys
