I like the purple and blue. Look at the guy who's making it- so much hard work to make one saree. It's so easy for us to say- "I don't like this or that".

It’s a shame to have cheap imports.. when you have people making authentic beautiful crafts for hundreds of years! Every culture needs to preserve their wonderful crafts and not dilute or lose them . Such beautiful exquisite designs and quality saris.

not everyone can afford a rs. 10000 sari ...hence cheap variants..so people can atleast have that look . .and people who are used to wearing silk will always know the difference...no scamming there..only thing is those fake banarasis could be made in india and not in china...thats what we can do.

who said it's imported. Sorry but 90%of Fake Banarasi sarees are from India's western part. Synthetic city Surat - Gujarat which is more popular for synthetic sarees and specially banarasi silk , banglori silk, etc. You can check these Fake Banarasi Saree on Saccha Saudagar episodes from Surat.

You are so inspiring di. I also have vitiligo and I am 16 years old. Only by seeing your vitiligo story on Karl Rock’s channel have I been able to get out of the suffocating world of medicines. Otherwise I would’ve spent my entire 2020 in taking pills and cure vitiligo. You are a real inspiration for me. I have never found any person so relatable as you as we share quite the same vitiligo story. I am on my way on becoming more confident in my skin condition and the jorney has just begun. Very informative video. Please also post the contact details of these weavers so we can directly buy from them. With ever increasing population and demand for sarees in india, fake replicas will find their way in market. Its hightime handlooms get some level of automation, so we still get authentic, original pure silk sarees, more made in short time and preserve this art and help protect artisans financially.

Since this was my first vlog, I had not expected so many people would love this saree and want to buy it.
I made this video to help people identify a real silk saree in Banarasi weave and give them an idea about it's price.
I met some manufacturers and suppliers while exploring the market, who were kind enough to help us know more about this art.
Most of the shops in Banaras have all three types of sarees: pure silk, art silk and fake. Once you learn to identify the difference, you can spot a fake one easily.
Edit: I’ll try to go back to Varanasi again and film a Banarasi Saree shopping vlog. I'll also mention the shop's details in all my future videos.

Hello Didi. I’m Aastha’s senior from college. I have been following your journey on and off but today found out your YT channel. My heart fills with immense joy to see someone spreading awareness about the dying culture and handicrafts of India. I was aware of the silk thread burn test but others tricks were a discovery and I absolutely love them. Gonna try them very soon. I’m from Rajasthan and it pains me to see the state’s handicraft on a downfall amid this wave of mass manufactured cheap fakes. I request you to kindly make some detailed videos on bandhej, leheriya, mothda, gotapatti and other kind of handicrafts so that there is a scope of them being saved and preserved. Thank you so much and loads of love and support. 💐

There is another kind, Pure silk but not woven on hand loom. It's woven on machine but mimics the handloom pure silk..
The way to recognise this is to look at the reverse. The motifs in a machine made are unfinished but in a handloom saree the motifs are neatly tied together.
An handloom handloom silk saree is way more expensive than 10,000 ₹. But totally worth it as collection. Handloom saree certainly is a dying art...

Real silk thread for sari , uncoloured can be bought in 7000 Indian rupees+ cost of dying the thread + the labour cost of a trained artisan + selling commission of the shopkeeper +GST = Real Silk Handmade sari . There are a lot of real silk sarees, that are pure silk , but machine made . They are pure silk machine made sarees , that you find around 10,000 rupees . Calling a machine made saree as handloom is crime and calling a plastic saree as banarasi or katan silk is crime ( but not in India) .
