RR, you have good reason to be “jacked-up” over this Blue Willard. It is stunning in-person. The video does not do it justice. The sunburst dial, bright indices and second hand, and the unique case design that molds to your wrist like melting butter combine for a piece that is impossible to resist. I was not in the market for this watch. When I compared it to other new releases at my AD, however, I was immediately in love and walked out with it! It remains a favorite in my collection. Do it! Love your no-nonsense approach, and entertaining channel. Thank you!
Thanks Rob for showing this watch. I love the case shape of the Willard. I don't think there is a better case shape in the entire Seiko catalog from their beginnings to now. So unique. It's funny, but when you put this Willard up with your Rolex Sub I couldn't help but to think that these are the 2 most iconic dive watches ever made. No offense to the Doxa, Omega, or Blancpain but these 2 are on top.
Rob buy the Willard I have both the blue and black dial and where the watches constantly even though I own a Batman. The Willard has a distinctive design and is way cool.
Love the blue. This is my favourite Willard release so far. I’d have probably bought one if I didn’t already have a mini-turtle SRPC39K1. And I just bought an SPB143…..
I didn’t know that the indicies were embossed on the dial, I thought they were applied. That sux! Anyway, this is a great video and review. I’m late to the party on this one but about to pull the trigger anyway. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
Napalm, Rob Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell? The whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end.
I love almost everything about this--size, fit, finish. My one gripe--it needs a movement upgrade, perhaps to 8L. Come on Seiko. Make it happen. For 1000 and up Prospex, I think we deserve access to 8L clean sweep, 28,800 bph seconds hand.
@@angrybanana6223 My point was that for 3200 USD on models like marine Master you're almost in Black Bay territory. The 8L is -10/+15 seconds per day. It's not really as special as Seiko pretends it is. They should put in in these Prospex models costing nearly 1500 dollars. Would be cool. 6R35, meh.
Nice! Looked nicer than the Sub to me -- that paragraph under the Subby pinion is just too much. Btw, I love how every clock/timepiece had a different time!! No OCD in the house! 🤣
Amazing blue colorway nice review Rob! The beveled crystal is similar to some of the Citizen `Tsuno Racer' Bullhead variants. In my opinion 5000 is to many for a LE.
I didn't like the Seiko pin and collar on my Seiko Turtle so i switched it out for the Miltat screw pin strap, similar to the Rolex style atrap, good and solid.I am looking at the Seiko Tortoise watch which is a new release from Seiko.
I have that watch, and ya, it's about a hair off perfect alignment. Thinking about doing some surgery on it to align it. But more than likely I'll just leave it alone because the distortion actually hides it a bit, and it doesn't bug me that much.
My original 1971 6105 Willard lines up perfect and runs +-3spd. It is a lovely watch with a lot of truth heritage. I absolutely love it plus I paid less then they charge for that modern knockoff. How about that? Where is 50 years of improvement and development? Honestly I’d rather buy San Martin for a fraction of the price and the quality would be better.
I'm just really trying to understand why is this watch so much more expensive than the regular prospex? Is it the fact that it's a limited edition? It still has an aluminum bezzel it still doesn't line up. Yes it has a better bracelet The 6R35 movement is not that much better in my opinion. Maybe I'm just ignorant here but I don't get it. Don't get me wrong I love Seiko but Can somebody explain it to me.
Wow cool it looks elegant, normally Seine turtles look and feel cheap, this one looks nice, I would buy it but am worried if it doesn’t lines up I can’t buy it as I have OCD behaviour
@@algorithm007ify yeah about $1800 is the cheapest online. I was talking about walking into a AD. My local has one for $2200. At least I can check it out and make sure everything is aligned and it works properly. I hate doing warranty claims online, it can be a real nightmare. I recently bought two manta ray turtles and both had dead movements. The first warranty claim went smoothly but the second has been a nightmare.
I was thinking, this looks good and then you pulled out the sub and blew the willard away. I'm trying to get the sub for myself but even though I have a friend of the family in an ad can't get one 🤒
I can’t get on with the bracelet. Wears too awkwardly for me. I think it makes the whole watch too heavy, even when it’s sized to fit it will still move down my wrist while walking on a hot sweaty day. Got mine on an Uncle Seiko waffle and I’ve not looked back.
When you're wearing your watch and want to actually time something with the bezel, do you take it off to set the bezel, or so you set it in your wrist. If on the wrist, why don't you test the bezel action on the wrist?
Seiko have cool designs great loom and that is about all, they don’t line up and the movements are very ordinary I have had 8 seikos over the years I would never buy another one
I sold my Sub Date (126610LN). I just couldn’t bond with it, it felt…contrived? Idk. But I’m about to pick up the new SLA Willard with the 8L movement, not sure which color yet. There’s something about the Willard that really rugs at my heart strings
For the specs you're getting and qc issues like a misaligned bezel it is way overpriced. Also the position of the crown looks odd to me. Would be much better, if the crown would be exactly at the 4 o'clock position.
I used to be in love with Seiko. But after I discovered Hamilton, Steinhart and Longines, I lost any desire of wearing Seiko. This Swiss brands offer much more value for the money. So, bye-bye Seiko.
Usual Seiko: stylish, overpriced with crappy qc. Could have been good around 400 USD with 4R35 but 1400 is a joke. I stick with vintage Seiko, they never dissapoint.
I'm wearing this watch right now on strap as well!

As the other person mentioned, 8L movements put Seikos far into the 3k+ range.

Always thought that the Turtle is a better looking case shape.
Cheers Mate 👍🏻
Maybe less expensive also? Those prices really took off ...
8:10 what’s the point of enjoying watches if one wasn’t obsessed with them😉
You can do it Rob!!
I purchased the black version for £750 in the UK. Its made better than a Turtle (bracelet especially)but no way would I pay full retail at £1200
One day a new Willard is going to replace the skx as my daily. Love these watches.
Those two can definitely co-exist!
Is it of the turtle family ?
I've got the black Willard and I say get it!
It came with both strap
It looks like it lines up to me. Better then a swiss watch i just looked at ...
Namoki gonna have the captain willard case in this year if you want to build your own I know there a little pricey for me temping
Looks nice. Not the biggest fan of the case style. That price though!
Willards have the best looking dive watch design...period.

Because of the huge hype bubble built around Seiko by some TH-camrs across the past 5ish years.
You rock that. You should get one.
Is that half a click off? For a Seiko, it looks pretty good to me.
