omg, I know, but u MUST GO WATCH THIER OLD LIVES, NOBODY BEATS THEIR OLD CR3W, LIKE JEFF POROCARO, BEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIME, GO WATCHTHE YOKOHAMA ONEM FROM 99 I THINK, AND PARIS, AROUND SAME TIME...BEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
One of the lead dudes in TOTO hated this song and did not want to release it.He was afraid it would destroy the group because no one would listen to it.(biggest song they ever made)
You can't fake the joy. Look at the crowd. This is the furthest point people can travel to escape from the inward troubles of life. They have been liberated, even for a short time, they celebrated freedom. Such a beautiful sight. Age, culture, religion, race, beliefs and differences were on pause. Loved watching this.
Toto's live performance of "Africa" is nothing short of a musical masterpiece. It's a journey back in time, a celebration of exceptional musicianship, and a reminder of the timeless appeal of this classic song. Whether you're a die-hard Toto fan or simply someone who appreciates great music, this performance is a must-watch.
When music had such power and soul in it. Timeless, 43 years later still gives chills. Wish we had more masterpieces like this. Toto, you absolute legends.❤
As a combat veteran, I have to say that this song contains one of that greatest lyrics of all time. "I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become." Some of the things I did, in the service of my country, haunt me to this day. Hopefully, God will forgive me. I haven't been able to forgive myself.
Ruby, I have high respect for veterans. Your sacrifices, what you have endured in active combat, the atrocities you have experienced… to me, there is nothing that God needs to forgive you for. We ask the unthinkable from our military. By the nature of your comment, it’s clear you have a heart filled with compassion. I’m certainly not a religious person, but, if there is actually a Heaven, you and your military brothers and sisters who saw active combat have all earned a spot there. No doubt about it. Complete respect for you !!!!
We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men (and women!) stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm. Get in with a good group and talk a little...forgiveness you can live with will come.
I truly envy those people, The opportunity to sing Africa with Toto. To sing with those who composed it one of the happiest songs mankind ever created. And we need it now more than ever.
When I was in Africa and in the US Navy I got rained on from a passing storm and felt it was a privilege to be there at that time in my life. This song reminds me of those days. Toto is so great.🎶🌷
It is so wonderful to see people who probably weren't born when this came out singing along and looking totally stoked about being there. This makes me very happy
It brings back some old memories, I grew up listening to this song when I was a kid. Nothing compares to this band. One of the best that can never be replaced.
That is one of the best sounding drum kits I’ve ever heard, snare and China cymbals are just perfect. The sound engineer for this show should get an award. This is real music right here. Musicians playing real instruments and singing
I am so blessed to have come up during the 50's 60's and 70's. Best music ever. So many great bands that could actually do it live. America will never be the same again nor will the music. But I suppose every generation would say that.
no it's true... America is going to hell... sad but true... so many people wanting to change everything this country used to stand for and they don't seem to understand the changes they're trying to make happen are what separates America from the rest of the world, makes it better... if they'd make the effort to live in one of the countries they seem to like so much, with fewer rights and privileges, i'd bet they'd stop trying to make the changes they are and yes i realize this seems to have turned into a political rant, not what i was trying for... but it applies to music, movies, the entertainment industry in general... they cant just try to make something that sounds good, looks good, has meaning... they have to try pushing an agenda down everyone's throat and tell them how they're supposed to think
I come back often to watch & listen to this. I was blessed to have seen Toto in Germany in the early 80's. This has got to be the best live version of this song I have ever seen. The crowd is so engaged and really having a great time. This is what it is all about. Will we ever get back to these times before so many of our favorite groups call it quits?
This class of musicians should rule the world, but they make us feel wonderful feelings and happiness with their musical works, they would also rule ... greetings from Chiclayo Peru
People are overwhelmed with their love for its musicality they have no other way to express it but to sing along the most disconnected lyrics. A masterpiece. Almost timeless.
when so many generations know your songs, when people that werent even born when you wrote them are inspired by them, you know you have reached immortality.
Rest in Peace Jeff Porcaro...its just not the same without you. One of the best drummers ever to sit behind a kit. This version is great, but I miss ya man. Those who know - know.
I've seen just about every live Toto version of this tune on TH-cam. All these years later, this (in my opinion) is THE tightest, with most energy. Great performance. Top top flight song
And to add, Simon Phillips played Africa better than Shannon (I Believe?). If you just listen to what Simon did as start of the song compare to this version, I do miss something.
There are a few songs that remain in the people's heart and mind, through the generations and against time, and this 80s masterpiece is clearly one of them
Toto is by far one of the most underrated bands. Many only remember this masterpiece. Most bands would be happy with just one hit this moving. Toto is so much more.
There is something really beautiful and giving you huge satisfaction of seeing the crowd singing together and cheering their favorite band. For couple minutes, everyone just enjoying their time, smiling to each other. Forget about all the shit happen in the world.
This song is a masterpiece and will forever be in my mind😍😍😍I need a girlfriend who loves listening to this type of Songs🤣😆😆.. Best song ever made..
Let's swim to Africa and get us a couple of real ladles 😄

time less, reminds me of adventure
Canção maravilhosa
Without a doubt, one of the greatest chorus' of all time.
Toto is a criminally underrated rock n roll band.
You know you're legendary when your crowd from all different generations can sing along.
And in a foreign country too!!
Africa the Holy Land was the message behind this song no wonder why everyone got hooked to it.Time will prove it.
See how everybody smile and sing together. All of them are really happy. We need that nowadays
Wow. I didn't know Toto was that good live, Holy cow that was one of the best live songs of all time! That was pure magic.

Probably the best ever live band.
@@theelement7125 Definitely the best version of this song I've ever heard.. they are so tight.

I saw one video of the lead singer being way off key. Perhaps he just had not sung anything in a while. It was very strange to hear.
This performance made me tear up a little. RIP Jeff and Mike! You are greatly missed.
Classic music for sure.

wonderfully put
Is only music 🎶 !! The language of Music!!
I never, ever get sick of the harmonies. Such a heart warming performance.
Those harmonies are insanely good
They waited all night for that once in a lifetime opportunity to sing Africa with Toto.

BEST MUSIC COMES FROM THIS GENERATION.
Absolutely can't get enough of this performance, it was just excellent. 💕
When music had such power and soul in it. Timeless, 43 years later still gives chills. Wish we had more masterpieces like this. Toto, you absolute legends.❤
At 75, this is the music that charges my soul. So many gone, but my music plays on.
Even the 10 yo kid is singing, how amazing must be for them to see the whole audience from 8 to 80 singing all along like that.
It’s not a song. It’s a hymn

This group can cure depression. Can’t get enough
Actually helped me during my depressed phase
50 years from now, this song will still be relevant. I can't imagine a time that it won't be.
the vibe in this video is ASTRONOMICAL
Timeless classic tune....hugely underrated group Toto
Yes they are very underrated. Love Toto
One of the best song ever written by this fantastic group !
Saw this show in Manchester, April 2018. Perfection.
The joy of the entire crowd and musicians sharing an iconic song is very inspiring.
When I was in Africa and in the US Navy I got rained on from a passing storm and felt it was a privilege to be there at that time in my life. This song reminds me of those days. Toto is so great.🎶🌷
Holy crap that was an insane performance. I am not even a huge Toto fan, but that was amazing
I took this for granted in the 80's.
Yes ! AFRICA is a classic ! Never grow tired of listening to it ! Something special here !!
Geoff Laidler when music was music plus was released the year I graduated high school
The greatest decade of POP music is the 80's, undoubtedly !!!
It completely defined what pop music is. Resonating to this day.
@@saturncrush i guess you guys missed the late 60's to early 70's (1964 to 1973 - the greatest decade in music history
The Porcaro brothers were something else.. so sad that only one, Steve, is left. Jeff & Mike are both passed away. Such a timeless band...
The greatest percusionist-solo I´ve ever heard: Lenny Castro - a monster!!
I saw these guys in concert back in the day. Best live vocal performance ever in my 27 years in the music business.
I was 13, travelling in the car with my parents, outside it was raining, and Toto made it unforgettable forever.
This song is fantastic, always has been. And the live performance is on another level. Truly sublime!

lotta love in that venue. Everybody singing in harmony, this is what the world needs right now!
You know what unites people all over the world..? Music.
You know what they took away and gave to the likes of S. Cowel?
It is so wonderful to see people who probably weren't born when this came out singing along and looking totally stoked about being there. This makes me very happy
The vibe in that theater looks amazing. It’s like a bunch of baby boomers brought their kids and teens and they enjoyed it as much as their parents.
Boa
Oohh , I love it so much as a Nurse just starting in Intensive Care in Berlin in 1982. Thank you.❤
Played live, this song is always a master class in musicianship.
Toto was, and still is, a super group.

Capolavoro assoluto. I Toto sono dei frontman fenomenali. Video pazzesco, marea di gente.

I hate that they keep using the original recording's chorus voices when they play Africa live.
