    Thank you very much for a really helpful video. I bought the part from a BMW Dealer and I was able to do this myself on my 2005 530i with relative ease and confidence after watching you video, and saved me the cost of having it done at a shop.

    I just completed my E60 rear window in about 30 minutes, that included changing the bottom seal as well. I marked where the bottom parts meet to insure the bottom was properly located. I used a small compressor to blow out the old debris and a PH balanced wash to clean out the gutter. One other thing, after I used the wide pry tool to push the new molding into the gutter and up against the glass, I noticed the bottom part of the molding lifted off the gutter a bit. I used the same wide pry tool to lightly push that part of the molding back down against the gutter. This video made this a very easy job.

    On another video I saw, the guy was spraying silicone spray to seat the seal…..😮
    I’ll stick with soap and water cheers.
    Do these seals shrink at all? On my 2006 E90 the rear window seals don’t meet, there’s about 1” gap, half on either side…..

      +Robert Chagolla I like to use (303 aerospace protector). You can sometimes find it at Ace Hardware. I buy it online.

    Hi what is the type of adhesive that Manufactures use to seal your weather trim on vehicles? I have a 2013 Nissan altima coupe and want to patch back up its only the top trim of the vehicle

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Flournoy Thanks for your question. Generally, modern day vehicles do not require adhesives. However, people often use then to seal leaks. I would try to stay away from using adhesives, unless you need to temporarily seal a leak. For this I would use a clear silicone that can easily be peeled off. You can get this from any auto parts store.

    Thanx great job my ride still suffering the same issue .. Please can u tell me the price of this seal in USD ?

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Azure. In the U.S. there are a lot of places to buy this item. Several BMW dealers have online parts stores that are separate from their counter sales units and sell at far below retail. There are also independent parts companies that sell original equipment a sometimes quality aftermarket brands. As I recall, I paid about $35 for this item online, and picked it up at my local BMW dealership, but I shop around for each and every part I purchase for the best price... I'm very thrifty!

    Olá
    Onde comprar?
    Pelo que entendi, não deve levar qualquer tipo de vedante nem lubrificante, deve simplesmente ser metido através de pressão?
    Cumprimentos

    can you do this on e39?

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      vincentas Generally yes, although the process may slightly differ. It really depends on the materials used for the window seal. BMW's are very similar in their designs.

  • @arrowofG0d
    @arrowofG0d 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I'm assuming an e60 550i will be the same thing? I can't imagine there would be a difference

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +arrowofG0d That is correct. The e60 550 is the same body style as it's predecessor (545i) as well as the v6 models. It's just the updated V8 engine.

    Can I learn this seal's part number ?
    I want to order one of them,too.

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inside seal is the larger and very easy to find. It is also the one that is most likely to fail and cause a leak. Google. part # 11667509080. Also ask about the smaller one as this is very hard to find one that actually fit. BMW does not make it. This is why I mention using a gasket sealant that is high temperature and oil resistant.

    HOW DO YOU CONNECT THE BOTTOM SEALS

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      William Flynn William. At about 5:35 into the video, you can get a better idea of what to do. You will need to slightly pull the bottom seal loose in order to connect it with the left and right side seals. I hope this helps.

    This is not a seal. It is cosmetic trim.

    I thought silicone spray was good for rubber and plastics, there are such sprays exactly for that. Why would you say silicone spray is bad for this rubber?

    • @BullseyeDIY
      @BullseyeDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very good question. There are two types of silicones and it is hard to tell which one is used in a product, as manufacturers don't often make it clear. Some silicones are derived from petroleum distillates and solvents, while others are water-based and/or created in a lab (true synthetics). There are also those that are created from petroleum and synthesized through a process called hydrocracking and labeled as synthetic. But that is another story for which I could write an entire article altogether. Basically the answer is that lubricants continue to evolve and we now have silicones that are safe to use on rubber, plastic and even leather materials. When I initially posted this video it was difficult to know and so I erred on the side of caution. I don't generally mention products, but there are certainly many more lubricants available today than when I posted this video...
