  • Universal Robots has reinvented industrial robotics with lightweight, flexible robot arms called Cobots or collaborative robots. Tasks previously thought impossible to automate due to cost and complexity, are now achievable with the user-friendly robots. The Danish-designed robot arms work separately or as dual arms demonstrated here with the UR5 cobot. In more than 45 countries, from the small machine shop to the large auto assembly line, Universal Robots optimize production, relieve employees from strenuous or monotonous tasks, and ensure quality control.

As a Quadriplegic, I can see these mounted to the back of my wheelchair. How liberating that would be to do daily tasks people take for granted.

Can you help with software engineering work? My initial interests are in kitchen maintenance, but I wouldn't mind becoming a millionaire again with you selling mobility products.

Welcome. How is the mechanism of moving the arm by hand, and then storing the movement? Explain, please

If I don't remember totally wrong, price for the UR5 basic robot without integration and any extras falls somewhere in vicinity of 15 000 - 20 000 euros. Expect to pay up anything from 30% to 200% more for a total solution.

Where can I order such a base for dual ur5e arms?

Working with these robots is also really easy, when I compare UR to another industrial robots.

Great potential, where can we get customer feedback from real implementations. Do we have a user group or can we build one?

Hi Carl-Henric, the Universal Robots channel here on TH-cam has several videos describing end user experience, you can also visit the UR website for a long list of case studies.

What is the reliability of these robots, we are getting a demo on Friday for a machine tending application.

The main difference between UR robots and other collaborative robots is that UR can show you where they are installed and the other guys just show you where you can use them.

Cool, shiny... how much? (they won't say, they want to quote it for you, so you never know if it's $10k or $1M. And when they finally tell you and it's way out of your league, they are upset at wasting their time)

The way to fix this is just to put an arbitrary price on "demo" robot I.e. one robot that is fairly high so you turn off the curious and dreamers. Industrial users get a volume discount. say $100,000 and most people stop bothering you. People who actually want to buy several will call for the quote.

UR5 is about $36k and the UR10 is about $46k. The easiest industrial control you have ever programmed. Compared to a motion control system built out of components (i.e. servos, amps, controller, actuators)? Forget about it!! This is like pulling an IPad out of its box. Do you read the instructions? No. You turn it on and start using it.

Do you want Skynet? THIS IS HOW YOU GET SKYNET. We need less advanced robotics, please.
