Gary Neville is the living embodiment of why an Englishman was not considered as good enough for the England Manager role. When he had the opportunity to be a Football Manager/Coach, he failed. He almost relegated Valencia from La Liga and as England Assistant Manager, he oversaw England's most embarrassing exit from a major tournament when we lost to Iceland at Euro 2016 and was part of a coaching team that thought having Harry Kane taking corners was a good idea. If Tuchel gets the same type of kind draw as Southgate has, tournament after tournament, I am sure he will win a major trophy for England at long last.
Anyone with a brain realises this is a nothing argument. Gary Neville doesn't speak Spanish, so was always going to fail in a place like Spain which pushes and has regulations in place for native born players (most of which don't speak English to a high level yet). Foreign managers can integrate easily here, English is a global language.
And it was his first job in Management a lot of managers don't get it they need experience,, and on that basis your saying no English manager is good ,, what a load of bollox
Garry and Jamie couldn’t coach a pub team - who cares what they have to say? It’s not even 12 hours and they are now going back on their original crap takes. Tuchel is the best manager out there and English managers don’t win anything that’s not the fault of the FA that’s on the managers themselves to get better!

True there's no excuse for English managers not going to lesser leagues & getting experience in the Europa League or the CL to better themselves. They hang around waiting for jobs, sometimes just midtable jobs in the PL.

England’s “rivalry” with Germany has always been one sided. I’ve always heard that Germany has seen the Dutch as their rivals, never England
Italy and the Dutch but the italians are the only ones who can really make us shiver. There used to be a rivalry with England but that was when TV was still black and white.
Short take from Germany: You are Right (in part at least), no one here regards England as the big rival, no bad feelings, we recognize the huge as well as passionate fanbase! It’s Ok when England fans are making fun of us bc. of the war. But the main rivalry is not with Holland either, most would consider Austria as the main rival (Italy perhaps). Good luck for TT and NUFC!
Yeah the Germans didn't see particularly interested in us during the Euros...just another team. Definitely have a rivalry with the Dutch.

Never beat a good team under southgate, fluked into finals beating ukraine, denmark, slovakia, sweden, panama, tunisia etc but always lost against a top 10 team. Tuchel is a great appointment

I can't believe how much this as blown up total embarrassment on our country these people who moan hes german actually dont understand war if they specifically think its the people's fault listen im not the brightest spark and i have no issues with saying it but in war the people are just assets pawns nothing more its all just embarrassing man from our countries point of view but in some people's eyes my opinion isn't relevant because my personal circumstances dont tick certain criteria yet those with no name wiped from existence would of done for others but you only here of those who are from higher standard families

Instead of insisting on an English coach/manager, ask why there isn't a stand out winning English coach/manager. Obviously improvements are needed in that area. The criteria should be a coach/manager who can help the team cross that line and win. Don't think those English coaches/managers named are on par with the top level coaches/managers yet. Maybe in a few years time you may have that.
Eddie Howe was the ideal choice for me but other than him the quality of English coaches is quite bad. Why take a risk with an unproven English coach when you can get world class manager who can potentially win something with this team?
Also, what made Howe good? He went away and improved himself, particularly at Atletico Madrid

I am Greek and we all know what happened when we were managed by a German! Trust Tuchel, the way we trusted Rehhagel (and I'm sure the fans will be behind him... the media are the problem).

Best manager around for tactics, getting the best out of players and team management in Carlo Ancelotti. He got the best out of an average team at Everton and made Calvert Lewin into a good striker. England who have been world beaters with him.

Yes exactly. Imagine I’d we did actually get pep. We all wanted him even Neville and carragher and they’d be lying if they said otherwise. The media and pundits need to stop living in denial and realize there are no current elite English coaches. Eddie Howe is probably the best one we've got right now but it's difficult to get him out of Newcastle and even then he hasn't won anything in his career. I think Tuchel is an excellent appointment and a massive upgrade on Southgate
Appointing a foreign manager worked well for the women's team and Wiegman has delivered a Euros win and a WC final in her first two tournaments.

@@PpunktP naja ich hab da so meine Zweifel. Der ist ja vom Charakter her auch nicht ganz leicht. Siehe letzte Saison bei Bayern wo der öfters dünnhäutig auf Standardfragen reagiert hat.
Außerdem sieht das ganze für mich eher wie ein Plan-B aus. Aber warten wir mal ab
