Join me LIVE on Zoom later this month (July 22-26th, 2024) as I teach a metacognition course for teens (13-19). Give your teenager a mental advantage that will help them succeed in school and beyond as they discover how to step into the driver's seat of their own mind. I love this. This was very insightful. It helped to further understand why some of our students may be failing/dropping out in their first year. We may be applying pedagogical practice that is not aligned with where the students are at learning.

    Great video!
What about retrieve -> retrieve better than all this . I wish they had tested the same. Also generative- generative.
You should check out Justin Sung, he was critique of mindless active recall. He stresses on encoding through other means

you talk about the teaching trajectory. can you give me an example of when you would identify to move onto deep 1 etc. using a specific topic as an example? eg. when teaching algebra start with ... then deep 1 will be when students show signs of... etc

Incredible video Jared! Do you have any other content that speaks to the stages of the learning trajectory from surface through transfer, which strategies work best to move learners through which stages, and implications for teacher planning? Thank you for this!

Hey Danny! I do have some videos on that, but they are part of a larger course (not on TH-cam, unfortunately). Shoot me a mail, though, and we'll see what we can do!
