This Doom had what… five minutes of screentime across two episodes and he’s somehow a better Doom than three-four live-action films. That’s clearly an achievement.
I think perhaps the best "compliment" to Doom's character is one comic (whose name escapes me) where Thanos says words to the effect of "Doom is the one Terran I keep under surveillance"
The comic you are referring to is "Marvel's The End." And here is the full quote for Thanos referring to Doctor Doom: "There were few Earthmen I had any respect for and fewer still that I keep under constant surveillance. But Doctor Doom was one of his world's towering intellects, a brilliant strategist and admirably ruthless."
@@erikbihari3625 Correct! And that's part of what makes Doctor Doom such a great character! There are a lot of supervillains who talk a big game but usually they can't back up their boasts. But Doom...DOOM CAN AND DOES!
Stan lee said it himself. Dr Doom isn’t Evil, he just wants to rule the world. Dr Doom believes the universe needs to change, and more importantly, he believes he’s the only on capable of doing so. Or more accurately, he believes Reed Richards is the only one capable of doing so. He hates and resents Reed, not because he’s smarter then him, but because he’s smarter then him, but refuses to do what needs to be done to better humanity. Thus Doom needs to prove to himself, that he’s better then Reed, so that he can be the one to change the world, since Reed himself won’t do it. Almost every single time doom has won, humanity was better off for it.
@@pn2294 clearly you don’t have a answer when you’re asking me to defer to a fictional character for guidance. I’ll tell you what’s evil. Standing by and choosing not to do what needs to be done for the good of other, for the sake of your own sense of moral high ground.
Even without his tech and position as a monarch, he'd still have sorcery and his genius mind to hand. That alone is a reason why he's a top dog in all of Marvel.
Dude is easily worthy of being a phase villain on his own. Doom is the anime trope of "that technique won't work on me twice" made manifest. He's honestly what Batman fans think Batman is in practice. He analyses and conquers everything from Avengers to celestials.
NGL, I actually think the MCU should just have a physical actor with an imposing frame who never shows their face play doom in person and just have Lex Lang come back to do the lines a la James Earl Jones did for darth vader
The problem with adapting Dr. Doom is that outside of his early writing he is not a straightforward villain. Usually the heroes are only as good as their villains, with Doom you come away knowing none of the heroes are as good as Doom. Which is why this adaptation works, the avengers can't hold a candle to him and he doesn't even care.
I personally think the main problem when it comes to adapting him is that they all try to make the story, and in turn him, grounded when he can only truly shine if you let that "grounded = better" mentality go and embrace theatrics/outlandish. As big a part the fantastic four are to superheroes it is way more accurate to compare them to flash gordon, indiana jones or johnny quest (the 1950s serial scifi adventurers) and doom is the epitome of that kind of villain (a super genius whose hideously deformed who took over/rules a country and has plans for world conquest and with an ego that's only matched by the sheer shit he CAN do... also his sir name is literally DOOM). if you try to ground that character then you he feels outlandish and "there's no way that guy can exist in real life" and thats correct, he is a character that exists and thrives in the fantastical
I love how the only thing EMH needed to change about Doom to make him not hammy like the comics. Was just change him from talking "LIKE THIS!" to Talking "like this."
I think something great about EMH Doom that’s not in any other adaptation I can think of, is that he ACTUALLY HAS AN EASTERN EUROPEAN ACCENT. I don’t really know how accurate it is, but it’s at least something because his heritage is something incredibly important to his character that every adaptation has ignored. I haven’t seen Avengers Assemble so Idk if he has it there or not, but this is just something that I noticed.
Doom has an accent. This is canon. The reference material is not robust, but it is clear. I agree. Sue puts it well when Doom is out of panel but he speaks in the comics, "That voice..."
@@phylasvell Scarlet witch has basis but pretty much any other time it's done, I completely agree with you. Wanda was trying to fit into the American town of westview so she magically changed her accent. The implications from that and Wanda's other characteristics in Wanda vision is that she did the same exact thing in real life so she could fit in more with the Avengers.
Doom is fascinating. He's the epitome of a super villain; rich, powerful, political, brilliant, tactical, tech savvy, magical, honestly the list could go on and on, he really brings everything to the table. There's something admirable about him despite the bad guy status. His work ethic is immeasurable for one, and he genuinely does seem to care about his country and its future. Great video and character analysis, as always!
Are we talking about the same Doom that got outsmarted completely, embarrassed and beaten by Bruce Banner in his own lair...with Bruce wearing just street clothes along with his Banner tech inventions, when Doom wondered how brilliant Banner was...that Dr Doom? The same Doom ( an army of Dr dooms from different realities) that was thoroughly humiliated by the council of Reeds based on how predictable he is ? The same Doom in which numerous simulations ran by Reed Richards demonstrated that Blue marvel was smarter than Doom? Let's not get carried away by the hype 😂.
@@kcopara1 Yeah it's funny how writing works sometimes, eh? Bad guys are usually outsmarting the good guys until that crucial moment the story has to end and the writers reveal that the good guy was two steps ahead the whole time. It's inevitable I suppose, villains have to be smart, powerful and compelling to help drive the story forward, but we still want the heroes to win, at least most of the time, or eventually. So it makes sense in all of those examples you gave how Doom lost, was outsmarted, beaten and embarrassed. Though none of those facts negate my own, they simply are also facts about him. I watched this video and was in a good mood and I left a positive comment. You watched it and left a confrontational one. I know which one of us is having a better day so far, so I hope yours eventually turns around. Cheers mate 🍺
In the original Heroes Reborn saga, Dr. Doom was literally the only reason the heroes beat Galactus and saved the Earth. That was a fun portrayal of Doom....
Doom was actually also hinted at in the Very first episode,, where Tony stop an weapons deal between aim and a mysterious buyer, that we later find out is Doom's representative
Not explicitly mentioned: In Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Doom was never beaten! That wouldn't matter is the adaptation hadn't been so good in general, but being a supervillain that goes undefeated in a superhero show puts him on a truly elite level.
@@batayou6819 A god of thunder and a god of war cannot defeat this buffoon. But. Then some angry man with guns just uses EMP against him and beats him with a hammer. Tsk tsk tsk Marvel moment.
Doom is pretty much the endgame antagonist (protagonist?) of Marvel , the most dangerous of any antogonist in Marvel. Not because he's the strongest or the most powerful there is , but because how there's no limit in his determination , how much of mastermind he is and how finesse his excecution of his master plan. I think Jonathan Hickman version of Doom is my favorite of all time.
I don't know a more dangerous villain in like, practically all of fiction. He's not just some super strong guy, nor even just a super smart person. He's not a cosmic, impossibly powerful, and/or impossibly incomprehensible evil malign power. He's a megalomaniac, a tyrant, a super rich bad dude, strong and powerful and magical of course. But he's so much more. Ultimately he's so dangerous because...he is simply a winner. He is one of those ultimate elite types. He doesn't make mistakes. He doesn't miss out things. He is never outplayed. He can handle anything, including triumphing over said cosmic incomprehensible powers. He doesn't even come in unless he knows he's already won. He's just...that type, simply that guy who never loses.
I like how this Victor still falls into Ben's description of him: He is just using the heroes as pawns to do his homework to conquer the world, to make him victorius without sounding "weak" asking for help in front of Reed and the other brainiacs. Is such a Victor move to do. what I really don't know is how the rest of the yost verse feels about the giant purple robocop chasing mutants flying across new york.
@Daniel williams How is believing you are right AND having the reasons to prove it, being the worst evil? What is the greatest good to you then? One that believes in objective morality? What is objectively good? I think Doom has a much greater potential for good than most superheroes, since he actually has good, personal and original reasons to do what he does (most of the time), while the vast majority of superheroes only preserve the status quo. Doom wants change, and for that he has my vote. I do agree his obsession with his mother's soul goes too far. His mom was not such a good person like he remembers, though he was a toddler when she died, so I get his unreasonable attachment to her.

EMH adapts the character so well considering how much depth as well as complexity is in Doom and being able to get the character right while Doom is limited to only so much screen time that alone deserves praise. Also i’m pretty sure that the third season was supposedly going to adapt the Doomquest arc where iron man and Doom get sent back in time to camelot and chaos ensues which is a favorite comic arc of mine and would have been fantastic to see.
I couldn’t agree more. For me Doom is the best marvel villain, not just because he wants to take over the world, but because he can. I really want them to do his character justice this time!
@@AndreNitroX Yeah. Something I hope they do with Doom in the MCU is have him appear in other movies besides FF, like the Black Panther (showing a war between Wakanda and Latveria) or Doctor Strange third movie (which could be adaptation of Triumph and Torment storyline), showing that this Doom isn't just a villain of Fantastic four, but a threat to all MCU heroes.
@@alexandrefrauches132 agreed, having him be the FF go to villain, is tiresome, its time to see how he interacts with other heroes, before his showdown with the 4
As much as I would want that it just isn't going to happen. With no Richards there is no Doom. I have no hope left that a character as great as Dr. Doom will be portrayed fairly. He has smoked the greatest heroes and villains alike over decades upon decades of writing.
@@thorinhannahs4614 The Fantastic Four is already going to be introduce in the MCU. Their movie could be for MCU phase 4 what the Avengers was for phase 1, and Reed and his family could be the new main team with the movies building up their conflict with Doom.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes was on its way to being the greatest animated super hero show of all time, potentially even surpassing Justice League/Unlimited and Batman: TAS. Cut down in it's prime.
this video reminded me how well emh did in adapting his characters. I feel that in one way or another, Avengers earths migthy's heroes is a kind of final love letter to the Marvel era of the 2000s. I feel like the best characteristics of the characters that appear and were adapted in that decade are still there, as with the thing, spiderman, wolverine, nick fury, and obviously Doom. Throughout this time there were films, animated series, animated films, video games and comics, which were representing these characters, sometimes it turned out well, sometimes not, but the series and its team knew Marvel and had experience, and they gave Unforgettable versions of the characters. Narratively, the series is not perfect, but in my opinion, its world is
The only issue I have with this video is you calling Doom arrogant. As defined by the Oxford dictionary arrogant mean "having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities". It's not arrogance; Doom just knows his value.

I do love this portrayal of Doctor Doom; though I wonder if the writers of Season 2 would have adapted the Emperor Doom storyline from the comics instead of the “Emperor Stark” that we got…
@@Joseph_Drew_III No, not GOD Emperor Doom, I mean the 1987 Emperor Doom story where Doom uses Purple Man to control the world, and Wonder Man is the only one unaffected and stops him.
“The Avengers are cameoing on the Doom Show, not the other way around” That’s the most perfect way to describe Doom’s attitude in general. This is his world; every one of the heroes are, unfortunately for him, just inhabiting it.

I'm sorry, I do love this version of the character, but my absolute favorite adaptation remains the Dr. Doom that appears in the 1996 Fantastic Four cartoon. (Showing my age here) His quips alone, my dude. S++ When Invisible Woman calls him out for using her to lure the FF into a trap. "Yes, I'm so sorry to involve you in the time worn damsel in distress cliché, Mrs. Richards. I fear the only thing missing is the oncoming train. However, sometimes expediency outweighs originality." When considering the fact that his plan will destroy all of NYC. "Such a shame really... I never did get to see Kats."
Was looking for this. Although the show as a whole isn't that great, the second season has some stellar episodes like Doomsday, the Daredevil episode, and the Ego episode. Plus it had Tony Jay voicing Galactus.
Doctor doom to me, is what Batman would be if he was a villian. Both are billionaires , both are geniuses, both lost family and both are masters of being prepared for anything. Doing in-depth research on their enemies is what keeps them a step ahead even against their most powerful enemies.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes was an amazing show, I hate how they turned around and retooled it into something more like the MCU, because adapting Marvel's great stories, characters, and history was really something to behold.
Doctor Doom in emh is one of those rare characters who you want to see more of, but if he was overused he would lose a lot of his charm, whether because he’d just show up and kick everyone’s asses (thus making us wonder why he doesn’t just conquer the world already since the heroes are so clearly inferior), or have to get his own ass kicked by the heroes, thus diminishing him as a threat in our eyes. Emh does neither, and as much as I might want to have seen him more, I am also cursed with understanding that his rarity is part of what makes him so great Emh did a great job and it’s a shame it got canned
My favourite representations of dr doom is in Iron Man Armoured Adventures. He’s very powerful and intimidating in that show and has a massive presence for the few times he appears.
Man....say what you want about Jon Watts. So far, his MCU movies have had some of the best villains-Vulture, Mysterio and even reminded us why Willem Dafoe is the greatest Green Goblin, period. His Doom is going to be a legit banger. Also, not only did EMH make Dr Doom a legit threat, but they captured his personality perfectly. He does lend a hand to helping the heroes in secret invasion, but does it in his own way. Not to mention, his reaction to Tony attacking him is gold. Treating him like an entitled toddler and being "sigh....are you done?" is perfection. Side note-it's hilarious and kinda meta when in the episode captain america (skrull cap, but still) asks the human torch who he is when Chris Evans played both of them
The fact that this show managed to adapt Doctor Doom so perfectly in less than 20 minutes than multimillion dollar projects and studios failed to do in more than an hour shows how much these creators cared and respected the source material I’ll be honest, I haven’t read a lot about Doctor Doom but ironically he’s still one one my favourite comic book supervillains and this show was the one to introduce me to him, it showed me how arrogant, powerful and egocentric he is and how little of an effort he needs to take down two superhero teams single-handedly. It was “show, don’t tell” put perfectly, it shows Doctor Doom is as strong as he is intelligent, it shows he isn’t a common criminal committing crimes for the fun of it, he has a genuine and in his own twisted way, moral reason of why he does what he does. He does things that only benefit himself and Black Panther was right about that, he was desperate to find out if The Earth has been invaded because he would’ve faced Sue Storms Skrull before this episode and noticed something was off about her and he was right. He only helped Tony because if the Skrulls took over there would be no Earth or Universe for him to conquer. It’s why the live action interpretations of Doom failed because he was just your generic movie villain with no reasonable motive. Doctor Doom is a villain you build up towards not a one off bad guy.
Doom was definitely adapted excellently. The only villain that I think was not only adapted better but made changes from the classic comic origins that fleshed (no pun intended) out the character in interesting ways, was Ultron.
I LOVE this version in ehm,its great that you made a video about this villian. If they were gonna make another season im guessing they were gonna use him more or have more cameos..
Ive always liked Dr doom but recently I cant help but love him. The dude is just 10/10. He has become basically a god numerous times, incredibly smart, incredibly powerful, a great king, even as a hero he was (arguably) a better ironman then tony stark is lmfao
I've often seen Doctor Doom as one of the biggest terrestrial threats in the marvel universe. Though at the same time he'd happily save the world if the heroes begged him to help. He thinks he's the smartest person on the planet and that it's his way or no way, so the reason he wants to rule the world is because he thinks he's the best person for the job. Something that is shown in Latveria where most of the people love living under his rule (there's still a resistance against him). I loved this version of Dr Doom as well as the one from Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Whilst I didn't read a lot of Marvel comics as a young child, I was more into the cartoons and live-action films that were coming out in the early 2000's, but even back then Doctor Doom was always THE definitive Marvel villain to me, and in recent years I've come to feel that he still is. To me if he were in the MCU they'd need to do a few things to get him right: The idea of him being a seemingly unstoppable threat initially, that over time comes to be an ever-present and integral part of the MCU, but also never goes to such extreme lengths to where he'd be on the radar in the same way Ultron or Thanos were. That moment in the comics when he gained the powers of a god and was literally unstoppable, only for him to cast his power aside claiming it to be 'beneath him' and just going back to Latveria would be an amazing ending to an MCU film, and is probably as far as they should go I feel in terms of scale with him. I feel he should last multiple phases of the MCU in a similar vein to Loki, but after a fair few appearances early on in a couple Fantastic 4 and Avengers films, give him less but more varied appearances in each phase after that, that alone I feel would keep him interesting without him overstaying his welcome or becoming uninteresting. Plus unlike Loki who really only left a lasting impact in the first Avengers film then was beaten and back to solely a Thor character, Doom I feel should never truly be off the table as a threat and shouldn't be beaten, or at least not until his final appearance, at most his plans on occasion would be foiled. I also feel they should establish him over time as being a necessary evil in a sense, given his 'rule the world' motive being shown to mean he has genuine care for the earth, showing him use his skills to partake in actions that for any other villain would be seen as a redemption arc whilst also being completely in line with his character would also illustrate his wider importance, cementing a simple motive resulting in a complex villain. He's also amazingly skilled with both technology and sorcery, which is an idea we've never seen in the MCU and could result in some really interesting dynamics between certain characters. I'd LOVE to see how he and Doctor Strange would interact since they've worked together on occasions in the comics, heck I'd take a whole film based on the comic where he and Strange go to hell to save his mother's soul. A lot of these aspects, in fact I dare say all of them were covered in EMH in some way, and once again you did a fantastic job illustrating and explaining them. The only thing I think the MCU could do better is simply due to the benefit of potentially more screen time. Seeing him in Latveria and showing why his people love him would go a long way to present the idea that maybe he could successfully rule the world. Him being the ideal ruler could become the next 'Thanos was right' within the fandom and maybe even within the MCU itself. On top of all of that I feel he could hold up his own film if they wanted to do his origin from childhood to becoming ruler of Latveria, which I feel would work not as his introduction to the MCU, but maybe after his first appearance as a villain in a Fantastic 4 film. Sure it wouldn't be a fun for the whole family type of MCU film, it would probably more closely resemble Joker than any other comic book film as it wouldn't be a secret anti-hero story involving him fighting some other villain at the end, but for a character who was the undisputed main Marvel villain for decades, I think having him be the first MCU villain to get a solo film would really hammer the point home that he's a big deal. Honestly that last bit is wishful thinking, as cool and unique as that film could be I doubt the MCU would ever make it given it would probably lack in action for a lot of it.
Dude sacrificed the “Love of his life” for ultimate cosmic power. He needs to be done right in the MCU, like the main villain of a massive overarching sinister plot.
So... I'll admit. I haven't read the comics. I've just been researching him because he seems fascinating.... That said. Hearing about this just rubs me the wrong way. Wasn't this story, and a few others where he did HORRIBLE things written by one writer? Mark Wade or something? I dunno.... I just feel like they went tryhard with that. The way he talked about Valeria, AND the fact he named Susan's kid after her. On top of that, he saved his mother from Hell.... Why would he send another person he loves there? (And in a, again, tryhard way. "Oh she burns up in gory detail for multiple pages wooooo aren't we so edgy?") Like... I dunno. Just feels like character assassination. And I HATE that more than anything in fiction....
@@DataDrain02 The fact you were able to pick up on this is proof that Mark Waid didn't know the character at all and you're 100% correct about your take. Killing Valeria was one of the worst, dumbest, most uncharacteristic things that writers have ever had Doom do. Perfectly summed up.
I am very glad this video was recommended. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes did a fantastic (no pun intended, really) job with bringing in Doctor Doom, along with the rest of the cast. I was more of a Doom fan once Simon Templeman took over the character in the 90s Fantastic Four animated series. Over the years Doom has proven that he isn't just a Fantastic Four antagonist, he can be the entire Marvel Universe's antagonist. Love the character, when they do him in a good way at least. Nice video detailing his character on the show.
2:06 It's funny you put that clip at the time you say that because Enchantress is literally showing Loki a bird's eye view of the Avengers lmao. Obviously different circumstances and Loki is severely underestimating them but still.
Rufus Sewell would be great as Doom. Doom should get a solo MCU movie about his life ending with him taking over Latvaria. We could get some cameos of the Fantastic Four before they got their powers while Doom dormed with Richards in college. Then they can introduce the Fantastic Four in their own movie later.
8:36 I feel like doom actually did need tony’s help to find the skrulls, just didn’t want to admit it because of his ego. I liked that especially because it shows for all his power and smarts, he’s not omniscient. there are limits to what he can do, and it has the effect of improving the character overall because by giving him some kind of tangible limit, it makes him feel more realistic and fleshed-out
Dr. Doom is in his own league, in the villainy game. Anyone who is a threat to cosmic-level entities can't be compared to any Earthbound villains. Dr. Doom is the apex predator of the Marvel Universe...
I think it’s very telling and appropriate that in Doom’s major appearances in this series, he spends the most amount of time of it butting heads with Iron Man. Doom is mainly the FF’s greatest nemesis, but it seems a lot of people don’t know that Doom and Iron Man have a pretty classic on-again off-again rivalry, especially in the 80s runs of IM’s book. In fact, if your sources were correct on the possible listed episodes for the season 3 we never got, one of these episodes would have been possibly the most iconic Doom Vs Iron Man story that exists (“DoomQuest”! Look it up! It’s AMAZING 😆) I’m only saddened we’ll likely never get to see it. It would have been GLORIOUS. Not only is Doom probably my favorite Marvel villain (mainly because he’s also the classiest, dude got serious game lol) but Iron Man is my favorite Marvel hero so seeing the two clash is just gold, imho ❤️ Great video! Fine work, good sir~👍🏽
Excellent video🙌🏽 For me I feel the new movie adaption should follow the example of Doom in the “Books of Doom” displaying that doom is very complex and has bigger problems to worry about than the avengers and that his actions, still being polarizing are still done for the greater good in his own warped view.
Happy new year Pillar. I am a huge Doom fan and I love the version of The character from EMH. The show captures Doom's character perfectly (just like everyone else in the series). He always had a presence whenever he appeared on screen and he silences Wasp with just a few words. Speaking of Wasp, may I suggest an analysis on her complicated relationship with Hank and how selfish she was towards him? Looking back Wasp took Pym for granted and never understood or respected his pacifist mindset and that may have played a role in his tragic transformation into Yellow Jacket
That could be an interesting video one day - but given that I talked about Wasp + Hank’s relationship a few times back in their respective videos, I’ll probably leave it a while before coming back to it :)
Great Vid! Doom is definitely top tier. I hope the MCU does him justice, but I trust KF & crew. The fact Doom figured the secret invasion out before the Avengers had a clue and then later gave them what they needed to combat it to keep the hassle off his plate and keep them busy so he could go about his business unfettered is simply genius!
I have owned the DVDs of both seasons since I could. Doom has been my favorite Villain since I was 7 years old and this is by far my favorite adaptation of Doom on screen. Even the FF cartoons tend to make him less intelligent than I believe he should be.
Doom is easily my favorite Marvel villain, possibly even my favorite Marvel character overall and this version highlights some of the reasons why. Incredible intelligence, groundbreaking tech, understanding arrogance (something I normally hate in characters), and might to easily back up his claims
That is why doom is my favorite marvel character. He is one of the characters with the most agency. He doesn't do anything on a whim. The only flaw is his ego. Which I think is kinda justified. I loved him in Hickmans FF, avengers and secret wars runs. That was as close to perfect doom that you can get.
This was a nice video. I didn't know Doom appeared that much in Assembled, I thought he only had one appearance and that's it. To me despite seeing Doom face off against the FF a lot, I eventually just grew into seeing him as a everyone villain. I hope the MCU makes him better
I always would’ve loved if the team that made this show tackled a Fantastic Four show set in the same universe. Perhaps it wouldn’t have worked with the world they wanted to build but I just love those characters and these versions so much (including Doom of course)
Dr Doom is one of my favorite comic book characters period. he has that effortless sense of power and his appearance in this show and in Iron Man Armored Adventures really nails it. Avengers Assemble was really hit or miss in regards to how well Doom was portrayed and the movies sucked in general. The way he treats almost everyone else in the Marvel Universe as mere children whose playing occasionally bothers him is just so entertaining
They need to show his rise to power. Sokovia should become latveria, and So fourth. This might be the last chance Doom has to be done right in the movies.
@@AndreNitroX I agree. So far, there's rumors that he will make his first appearances this year. One, a small cameo in the Doctor Strange sequel & in the Black Panther sequel trying to invade Wakanda. If both rumors are true, this would fix one of the mistakes they made in the previous Fantastic Four movies.
@@mageeaaron2624 agreed, so far doom was never shown with supernatural powers in the movies. so showing him in doctor strange would instantly separate him from the other weaker adaptions.
Fun Fact: Robert Downy Jr. tried for the role of Dr. Doom in the 2000's FF movies. Also, if the rumors are true that Viggo Mortensen will be the MCU's Dr. Doom, I have nothing but high expectations that I know heir of Isildur will live up to.
@@alexandrefrauches132 Fassbender is interesting because he was one of the only redeeming qualities in some of the latter Fox X-men movies and I would love to see him get a shot at Magneto with a competent studio behind him. Like what the heck was Toby Kebbell going to do with the garbage that was the role in Fant4stic?
I really like the breakdown of doom that you gave. We wanna see the flights and fireworks but he's a different breed that makes his flight scenes special, maybe a little more exciting and anticipated
I'd like to believe that dr.doom was testing the avengers / fantastic four to see if they were adequate for the upcoming threat , and once he had enough to make his assessment he asked them to leave
Doom has always been my favorite bad guy. Because there was nothing special about him. He was just a genius. The same reason I loved Batman as well. Superman is a dirt alien! These guys are just brilliant.
I think you did very well with your Doom video. Hired to agree that this is one of the best iterations of doom. I have found that most versions of him portray him as narcissistic and needy. Thx
Great video as always. I would argue that doom has more consistency than you are giving him credit for and that this is an incredibly faithful adaptation. Going as far back to his first appearance, he beat the FF within the first five pages. despite the teaser page claiming that the FF are what stand between him and world domination, he doesn't kill them when he captures them. Instead, he has them run errands for him, using the time machine he casually invented and gets away in the end. The "if he was defeated or killed, it was a doom bot" thing has been around since his third appearance. He was also very similar to this in secret wars which was written in '84. there, he was more than a straight villain and was the POV character for a lot of the massive crossover. In Emperor doom(which emperor stark is a loose adaptation of) the first thing doom does after he takes over the world is end apartheid. the only thing missing here was the pettiness towards Richards and even that is alluded to by thing and by the fact that he was clearly watching them
I saw this EMH episode for the first time just a few days go. Before then, I never understood what was so special about this character or why people were so passionate about him. But that first interaction with Wasp alone completely changed my mind. I had to pause & rewind because I was so taken aback by how threatening he was.
The whole idea when creating Doom was, "What if there was a villain that didn't actually break any laws?" That on top of him neither black or white makes my favorite comic book character of all time. Another reason is that he's just right, the world would be a better place if he ruled. It's been shown time and time again that he can singlehandedly save the world
Another dope part of the show I found rewatching EMH last year is Dr Doom was teased in the first episode with Tony's intro locking people away he says I'll be holding a cell for your boss to Lucia Von Bardas, such a dope freaking show
I think Doom is one of the most fascinating characters in comics. I especially enjoyed Doom 2099. The 2099 series of titles was, in general, absolutely fantastic. Doom 2099 was really interesting in that, unlike the other characters in the 2099 books, he wasn't some new hero taking the mantle and name of some long gone character in a cyberpunk future. He was actually THE Dr. Doom, who just travelled to the future via his time machine and got stuck there, suffered an humiliating defeat, and decided to upgrade his armour with future technology as a consequence. But there was also this shroud of mystery surrounded his identity, hinting at the possiblity he could actually be Kristoff, a clone or someone else entirely. And, on top of it, in this fairly dystopian cyberpunk future dominated by mega corporation, that had no superheroes, he was actually depicted as a protagonist, a hero, or antihero, at the very least. The whole thing was pretty damn cool and I think it influenced Doom's subsequent depictions in the main Marvel Universe.
Thank you so much!!!! Doctor Doom is my favorite marvel villain ( yes I know how original) but he really is an incredible villain, and this show did him so perfect. This is the doom I want in the MCU!

I think perhaps the best "compliment" to Doom's character is one comic (whose name escapes me) where Thanos says words to the effect of "Doom is the one Terran I keep under surveillance"
Well considering how Doom performed a fatality on Thanos during secret wars, I’d say that would be a wise decision.

Yeah Secret Wars really nails that message.

Victor Von Doom-
The problem with adapting Dr.
Fun fact: Dr. Doom once met Stan Lee himself and questioned him why everyone doesn't like Doom
That was awesome
What reason did Stan lee give him?
Actually, everyone likes doom
Oh yea that was a funny one
I mean, I like Doom. :) Stan Lee accomplished his purpose haha

I haven’t seen Avengers Assemble so Idk if he has it there or not, but this is just something that I noticed.
well lets be real, marvel adaptations have a history or removing romani heritage from characters. hell look at scarlet witch.
I am of Eastern European descent. It’s rly not that accurate and it’s very light but its not distracting at all.
Spiderman TAS had Doom with an Eastern European-ish accent.
Well you are right. Dooms' willpower is his greatest power
The fact that this show managed to adapt Doctor Doom so perfectly in less than 20 minutes than multimillion dollar projects and studios failed to do in more than an hour shows how much these creators cared and respected the source material
I’ll be honest, I haven’t read a lot about Doctor Doom but ironically he’s still one one my favourite comic book supervillains and this show was the one to introduce me to him, it showed me how arrogant, powerful and egocentric he is and how little of an effort he needs to take down two superhero teams single-handedly.
Thumbnail aged insanely well wow
To me if he were in the MCU they'd need to do a few things to get him right:
The idea of him being a seemingly unstoppable threat initially, that over time comes to be an ever-present and integral part of the MCU, but also never goes to such extreme lengths to where he'd be on the radar in the same way Ultron or Thanos were.
Honestly that last bit is wishful thinking, as cool and unique as that film could be I doubt the MCU would ever make it given it would probably lack in action for a lot of it.
thumbnail predicted the MCU Doom announcement
Boy this thumbnail man especially after what what happened at SDCC 2024
"Oh she burns up in gory detail for multiple pages wooooo aren't we so edgy?")
Like...
He sacrificed himself!?
@@DataDrain02you get it bro, some people aren’t smart enough to handle doom sometimes
Thumbnail aged very well

I feel like doom actually did need tony’s help to find the skrulls, just didn’t want to admit it because of his ego. I liked that especially because it shows for all his power and smarts, he’s not omniscient. there are limits to what he can do, and it has the effect of improving the character overall because by giving him some kind of tangible limit, it makes him feel more realistic and fleshed-out
I’m coming back here to say that your thumbnail aged like wine
Dr. Doom is in his own league, in the villainy game. Anyone who is a threat to cosmic-level entities can't be compared to any Earthbound villains. Dr. Doom is the apex predator of the Marvel Universe...
Doom is such an amazing character. His will to accomplish his goals is what I like most about him
What I love about his meeting with Iron Man during secret invasion is that I’m 99% it wasn’t a doom bot and was actually him for once
Not only is Doom probably my favorite Marvel villain (mainly because he’s also the classiest, dude got serious game lol) but Iron Man is my favorite Marvel hero so seeing the two clash is just gold, imho ❤️
Great video! Fine work, good sir~👍🏽
So many great modern character adaptations and story beats came from this show !
Excellent video🙌🏽 For me I feel the new movie adaption should follow the example of Doom in the “Books of Doom” displaying that doom is very complex and has bigger problems to worry about than the avengers and that his actions, still being polarizing are still done for the greater good in his own warped view.
Agreed
Welp I'm here now after that reveal
This show got so much right. Literally the Marvel equivalent of the Justice League animated series
Well said!
Lets hope MCU Doom lives up to how he should be
He'll build his magic armour in latviria, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!
This was a nice video.
I didn't know Doom appeared that much in Assembled, I thought he only had one appearance and that's it.
To me despite seeing Doom face off against the FF a lot, I eventually just grew into seeing him as a everyone villain.
I hope the MCU makes him better
Who's here after it was announced that RDJ will be playing Dr. Doom in the new Avengers movie?
I love that youtube is bringing Dr. Doom vodeos into peoples feeds again because the RDJ announcement
This is the best Doctor Doom ever man!!! I hope the MCU gives him this same treatment in live-action! 🙏🏽💪
I'm not really excited for the Black Panther sequel, but if Doctor Doom is in it, I'll be interested to see the movie!
Viggo would be fantastic! I’m just sad they wasted Mads Mikkelsen on Kaecelius, because he would have been my top pick.
Viggo is too old to be Doom in the MCU. A better choice would be someone like Michael Fassbender.
@@alexandrefrauches132 Fassbender is interesting because he was one of the only redeeming qualities in some of the latter Fox X-men movies and I would love to see him get a shot at Magneto with a competent studio behind him. As for Doom, I think a lot of actor could pull it off because so much of it will come down to the script and the direction. Like what the heck was Toby Kebbell going to do with the garbage that was the role in Fant4stic?
@@alexandrefrauches132 Viggo would be under a mask the whole time what difference does it make how old he is?
After the news
The Doom show with cameos by the avengers, man I would pay to see that.
My Top 5 Favorite Marvel villains.
1)Thanos.
2)Dr.Doom.
3)Kang The Conqueror.
4)Kingpin.
5)Green Goblin.
Tragic magneto ain’t there
So no magneto
It's his list dude@@Batman1998-
I really like the breakdown of doom that you gave.
So glad you did a video on this.
Best version of Doom ever!!!!
In Emperor doom(which emperor stark is a loose adaptation of) the first thing doom does after he takes over the world is end apartheid. the only thing missing here was the pettiness towards Richards and even that is alluded to by thing and by the fact that he was clearly watching them
also, Doom was alluded to as early as the first episode of the show proper.
It's been shown time and time again that he can singlehandedly save the world
Another dope part of the show I found rewatching EMH last year is Dr Doom was teased in the first episode with Tony's intro locking people away he says I'll be holding a cell for your boss to Lucia Von Bardas, such a dope freaking show
The youtube algorithm got us eating well today boys
yup
Really solid show.
Also low bars to clear, and a hard character to write well. He was decent in Armored Adventures if memory serves.
Dr Doom needs his own Movie Or series he’s just such a cool and Interesting Character
I love Doom. He’s a great villain and the inspiration of one of my favorite artists, MF DOOM
You did a great job brother. Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much!!!! Doctor Doom is my favorite marvel villain ( yes I know how original) but he really is an incredible villain, and this show did him so perfect. This is the doom I want in the MCU!
I mean it’s more original then most. Most people like Thanos, Loki, green goblin, doc ock, or venom, not Doom because he hasn’t really broken out into the mainstream.🤷♂️
@@spider-jonah-man7148 agreed, but every marvel fan i meet, say they love doom, so thats why i said that. for me i loved the doom shown in the "Books of Doom", not an evil man but a complex man.
@@AndreNitroX cool
@@spider-jonah-man7148 thanks
We need Dr. Doom (played by Jason Isaacs) facing off against Iron man (played by Robert Downey Jr.) in the MCU.
another excellent video i love the vocabulary you use in this video. Something I have noticed in the show is that Doom and Kang share a few of their abilities such as the telekinesis I find it a neat reference to how the two are related
Good point!
@@PillarofGarbage sometimes I wonder had this show went on if we would have seen the two interact and an acknowledgement to that. I have been thinking a lot about what Kang's story could have been. Maybe an adaptation of Destiny war where past present and future avengers team up to save everything from the time keepers. I always had this thought in my head that if it were to happen the og 5 would be the past version the current line up the present version and the young avengers the future version
