Surgical Trauma ICU. We take neuro traumas. Kidney, liver and pancreas transplants. Abdominal surgeries, Stabbing, GSW and MVA.
Great overview! Thank you. Still kind of lost with ICU specialties.
Thank you Anna!! This is SO helpful!
yay this makes me so happy :)
so helpful❤️
Yay ❤
I think I would like working on a burn unit 😃
It was really fun :)
Did patients get transferred out of your CVICU once they were extubated and ambulatory? In other words, did they stay in your unit postop days 2-5 etc
Sorry I’m just now seeing this! The goal was to transfer patients out postop day one ☝️ if they were stable
Have you heard about Advance respiratory ICU ? I saw a job posted for that unit but I have never heard about it
Sounds like a micu to me!
What about level 1 applying to CRNA programs ?
Check out my video about the best icu for crna school! I talk about the *level one* myth
What if your hosptial has a respiratory icu and a medical icu?
It's usually medical and then maybe thoracic/surgical-typically MICU covers respiratory diseases in my experience :)
Would MICU be like med surg but x100?
yeah kinda in a way haha! the surgical patients would go to sicu and then the medical patients would be in MICU
does working in the icu pay more ?
In some facilities it does but not most in my experience!
I transferred to neuro PCU and I had no idea how much the job includes assessments 🫤 I don’t like it now 😩 but it’s a good unit and not as heavy as my previous unit.
yeah absolutely I hear you! PCU is super heavy--and very assessment heavy.
