- Today I'm taking the train from Wroclaw to Poznan. It's a nice train ride of only about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I've rented an apartment for 1 night close to the Old Town center. Close to the train station I caught a tram to the center of town. There were some very new and modern buildings here. The trams themselves also looked very new. I got off near the Old Town center and discovered an open air market. From there I walked to the main square, admired some architecture and talked with a young guy. I also stopped at a coffee shop. Next it's time to check in and explore the center of Poznan.

@@TravelAddictGuy dont temp me TINY.
I was just in Poznan for three months,(from the USA)... very beautiful city. I met a few lovely people whom I now have on my social media.
That's cool, I'm happy that you enjoyed it and made some new friends. 👍🏻
Poznań is superb! so greeny city!
It looks great, and I'm loving Poznan.🇵🇱🏡
So many cities to see in Poland and they are relatively close together. I’m glad you get to experience them.
That is pretty awesome, that cities are so close to each other.
I lived in Poznan for 1,5 year and also loved it. But I definitely have to say that Poznan's suburbs I liked more than some Poznan's streets that are inside. There are highly attractive places for living, not just cleaned but modernized. Green, good-looking outskirts is the thing that I was surprised of as I moved off Russia.
That sounds nice, I need to explore those more.
There is a lot of construction work in Poznań. I know everyone is complaining about it, but I think it's very good. It's nice to see cities becoming more and more beautiful in Poland and adapted to higher standards of living. I'm just happy when I see building, reconstruction or renovation work going on somewhere. Let's hope there are as many of these as possible in Poland.
I'm sure that it's needed and these Polish workers will no doubt have the job done as soon as possible. I can't wait to see the new improved Poznan.
@@TravelAddictGuy
I am sure that in your country there are places that need renovation and are neglected. Poland has made extraordinary progress in building infrastructure over the last 30 years. There is still much to do. Despite its imperfections, Poland is a cleaner country than the USA.
@@janhusar9105 In fact much of the USA also needs new infrastructure and renovation. Poland is both safer and cleaner than most parts of the USA. I made some jokes about the construction, that's it.
@@TravelAddictGuy
Poland, of course, has its shortcomings, but they are systematically eliminated as far as possible. Not only port cities in Poland are clean and well-kept. Most Polish cities, large, small and villages are clean. I remember Poland as gray and very neglected. These were the times when Moscow had influence on Poland. Wherever a Russian (Soviet) shoe steps, grass does not grow.
@@janhusar9105 I'm so glad that I get see the modern day beauty of this country. But I am fascinated with the history of Poland as well.
Poznań is my absolute favorite city in Poland. The street art. Park Cytadela. The food. The history. Many of the bus stops have free wifi. Just love it. Can't wait to get back. Enjoy!
It's a wonderful city and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
Nice, on the move again. Like to see more of Poznan
Several more videos to come from Poznan. Thanks.
Thankyou my friend
Good to see you. Gracias amigo.
Hi Kerry. Lucky you being able to see so many different cities in Poland. Like their mode of transportation. Nice cup of coffee and dessert. Liked the Barbie cafe Very cool video
Transportation in Poland is wonderful and so is Poznan!🇵🇱👍😎
Hi Tag, b safe out there. We love your video
Thanks my friend, wishing you well. 😎🙏
Nice to see you again.
Thanks, and I appreciate the support. 🙏😎
Food is a part of every journey
One of the best parts! 👍🏻👍🏻
Wielkopolska (Latin: Polonia Maior) - a historical land in central and western Poland, in the Wielkopolskie Lake District and the South Greater Poland Lowland, in the basin of the middle and lower Warta rivers; historical district of Poland. these lands were the beginnings of shaping the Polish state, the most important cities are Poznań, Gniezno, Kalisz and others
The historical capitals of Wielkopolska are Poznań and Kalisz. Wielkopolska has no coat of arms. The original coat of arms of Wielkopolska, granted by Casimir III the Great, is now the coat of arms of the Kalisz Voivodeship. The patron of Greater Poland is the Duchess of Kalisz. Jolenta Helena from the Arpad dynasty, wife of Bolesław the Pious - Duke of Greater Poland, whose nephew was King Przemysł II. The rulers of Greater Poland (the princes of Poznań and the princes of Kalisz) were buried in the Golden Chapel and in the collegiate church of St. Paul the Apostle in Kalisz.
Que bien andar con chaqueta por la calle aquí el calor es horrible
Si, mucho mas fresquito aqui.
6:35 Very nice on 2nd plan (behind you) :)))
To ride the tram or to visit the cool building?
Looks like the construction work hasn't progressed much since I was there. If you're in Poznan I recommend trying the pierogis in Pierożak Pierogarnia.
Thanks for the tip comrade. Dziekuje bardzo. 👍🏻😎
There are many delays due to archaeological work. What we have in Poland is that when some people start digging somewhere they find some old walls, things or debris or bombs from WW2. This always prolongs the construction work.
@@Rene_Moor3095 That's pretty crazy to think they might find bombs. 😲💣💣
Nice video! How dare you start your day without coffee 😁btw we have kinder bueno here also
I had to rush to catch my train, otherwise my day aleays starts with coffee. At least I got to be Ken for a day. They have kinder bueno now, maybe it's just in the south. I've never seen it in Michigan. Cheers my friend! 🍻😄😎
Poznań is a big construction site this year. There are many delays due to archaeological work. The city center and the old town will return to normal only next year.
They are digging up archeological artifacts?
@@TravelAddictGuy Yes. Poznań is the cradle of Polishness. Here rest the first rulers of Poland: Mieszko I, Bolesław Chrobry, Przemysł II. The first stone buildings in the country were built here. You can see their outline on Ostrów Tumski opposite the cathedral. It's a small glass green wall.
Brilliant Kerry been following your channel since you had catman 😂❤
Very nice to hear from an early subscriber. Catman was awesome to film with. Thanks so much. 😁😺
2:40 - You probably already know that. It was not the main station in Poznań. Poznań Główny station actually has 3 stations: Main (new, big building), Zachodni (the one you were in) and Old station (no longer used unfortunately), all connected by pedestrian tunnels. 5:25 - if necessary, you can buy without booking a seat and stand these 2 hours...
I bought a ticket for Poznan Glowny, I must have gotten off at the wrong station. Thanks for the update.
@@TravelAddictGuy station is right. Just "Poznań Główny" means two different (or even 3) buildings :) You get to Poznań Główny, but to entrance named Dworzec Zachodni (google will translate like: West Station - the smallest in that area). Take a look on map, Poznań Główny is just really big station :) Some years ago there was also "Dworzec Letni" ("Summer Station"), which was in fact entrance to one platform ca 200 meters from main building ;) Nowadays main building of that station is connected with shopping mall and bus station. It is pretty huge, main entrance is from "Most Dworcowy" (street).
2:01 They do for international trains.
a bit of history about the city of Poznan
Poznań was one of the capital and religious centers of the Piast state (Polish Dynasty) in the 10th and 11th centuries, in the past it served as the seat of Polish rulers, and was also one of the most developed fortresses in Poland at that time. Poznań was also the capital of Poland in the years 1290-1296. It is one of the oldest chartered cities in Poland - it was granted city rights in 1253. The city had the right to actively participate in the act of electing the king. In the Poznań cathedral there is a symbolic tomb of the first rulers of Poland - Mieszko I and Bolesław I the Brave. On the island of Ostrów Tumski, there is the seat of the curia of the Archdiocese of Poznań - the oldest in Poland, and the second oldest university in Poland. The capital of Greater Poland was one of the royal cities of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. The meeting place of the election assemblies of the Poznań Voivodship from the 16th century to the first half of the 18th century. Shows of the nobility of the Poznań Voivodship of the First Republic took place near Poznań. In 2008, the complex of the oldest districts of the city was declared a monument of history.
That's some great information about Poznan, never knew that it was that rich historically. The former Capitol of Poland even. 😲👍🏻
RÓŻOVE is a reference to LOVE, as properly it would be RÓŻOWE. And letters of the LOVE part are in italics. Very good brand design. Cool place!
That makes a lot of sense with all the pink and hearts. Thought I walked into the new Barbie movie for a minute. 👱♀️😄👍
You will notice in Poznań a lot of graffiti of the Pan Peryskop or a Watcher (that eye looking thingy) everywhere. You went past quite few of them actually in this video. It's done by local artist under the pseudomin of Noriaki Kasai, like that Japanese ski jumper :)
I'll have to check the video for them. Do they mean anything?
@@TravelAddictGuy In 20:50 there is couple of them. It became an unofficial symbol for Poznań like Krasnale are for Wrocław. I tried looking for the meaning but could not find anything. If only Dominik was there with you... :) You could try asking random people on the street about it see what they think.
Visit the Citadel Park in Poznań. There, in the Allied soldiers' quarters, all the participants of the Great Escape are buried. They were killed by the Germans in Poznań(58 participants). You may remember the movie The Great Escape(1963). It's a movie starring Steve McQueen.
That's pretty cool.
Poland 🇵🇱
Poland is awesome! 🇵🇱👌
👍
How far is wroclaw to gdansk by train?
Around 5 hours and change. Depending on if the train is direct or not.
I have a strange feeling that you are avoiding me tiny.
Dude I've been busy.
Hello, how are you?
I'm doing great. Thanks for asking.
19:53 - Advokat means lawyer.
We also have the same word advocate in English. It can also mean a lawyer. Thanks for sharing.
Ken 😂😂
I'm still looking for Barbie. 👱♀️😄
I’m shocked at the sheer amount of construction work going on.
You haven't seen the worst of it yet. It's coming in the next video.
@@TravelAddictGuy so beter way is to left it all to rot like in all US?

@@Rene_Moor3095 I agree, it's going to be much better for both residents and visitors, when the work is done.
@@TravelAddictGuy It would be great if they do it well, but I'm not optimist. Long story short - renovations take longer and costs increase.
I will live Germany, Frankfurt am Main for Poznań next year ;) I can't wait :) They are propering for my comming :P That is why they renovate the streets. If I will be there everything will be done :)
Poznań is beautiful city and gives much more than Frankfurt in Germany, it's cleaner, smarter people well dressed, and everything is better than this ugly German city.
They are making Poznan great for your arrival. This city is clean, safe and beautiful. Good luck!
@@TravelAddictGuy You should to visit this city one more time when everything will be ready.
Poznań is a Russian city.
It was?
@@TravelAddictGuyNo it's never been Poznan is the one of the first polish cities since 966.
@@Bluxen-vh8pf Thanks for clearing that up.
