Bump in the Road Leads to Motorcycle Fail / Roadside Repairs 🇲🇾 [SE E47]

- I hit a bump, then the motorcycle died. It was unexpected for sure, but when riding around the island of Borneo, I’ve come to expect the unexpected.
I knew right away what it was… But the next question was how were we going to fix it? On a barren road in the middle of the jungle?
This was definitely adventure motorcycle riding at its finest.

Congratulations on your new Tour Guide enterprise.
Thank goodness that Marisa found the kickstand spring!
Also, thank goodness for kickstand kill switches.
Quick story: My first bike, a 1980 Honda XL 250, didn't have a kickstand switch.
This was a problem as I was leaving my high school one afternoon. I was acting all cool, heading home on my bike. Then, in front of 1,500 students, I turned left out of the school parking lot and crashed, spinning down the road.
In my rush to show off, I had forgotten to put up my kickstand. On the left turn, the bike pivoted on the side stand and catapulted me along the pavement.
What a surprise!
Luckily, the only damage was to my math textbook in my backpack. Of course, I didn't care about that. I cared more about my bruised ego and the damage to my bike cred.
Lol.
All hail the kickstand switch!
Dave "Tiger "Coward 🇨🇦
Wow!!!
We are definitely fans of kickstand switches! The only other time ours failed was in South America when the Bolivian Salt Flats ate away at the sensor. We had to bypass the switch and I took off a couple of times with the side stand still down as it scrapped the rocks and made me freak out!
Marisa the navigator, the spring finder and Tim the unsink the floaty one and spring breaker 😂
We all have our "gifts" 🤣
you actually found the spring!! what a luck!
I know, right?? What were the chances of that???
We thanked our lucky stars that night!
Check out our NEW Tour Packages here 🎉 www.2upandoverloaded.com/borneotour.html
We would love to ride along with you!
06:33 Marirasa restaurant. The cute little ladies is my cousin ❤ Welcome to Ranau..
You guys are so lucky one in millions you find back that spring. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 luckly it fall on the road
I know, right??? I thought it was a lost cause for sure 🤣
Looking forward to the next episode with the proboscis monkey known locally as 'Orang Belanda' or 'The Dutchman' in English, that's to do with the long nose. A great episode and it was riveting when the bike came to a tinkling halt I thought that would have ended the journey until fixed, luckily it was just a kickstand spring. Not too certain about swinging on the Indiana Jones bridge, hey I guess that's part of the excitement right. Look forward to the next one. Great vlog, loved it.
Thanks for tuning in and we can't wait to show off the Dutchman Monkeys we encountered! It was such a fun experience!
Thanks for the kind words and we hope that you enjoy the ride along with us!
You guys always have quite the adventure, I’m glad it was just spring, travel a while, Godspeed
Thank you for tuning in and for the good vibes!
We are loving every moment, and are thankful that the bike hasn't given us too many issues up until this point. And this was a relatively easy fix once Marisa found the little spring!
Eagle eyes!
May Allah bless your everyday guys.. Amen
Thank you so much! 🙏
Love the video. Please stay safe. I think you guys need to ride from Tawau - KK through the Kalabakan road for your next adventure
We absolutely will! Stay tuned! 😁
Great video! Glad your bike issue was fixed without much hassles and THAT sparkling water must had tasted AMAZING!
I couldn't believe Marisa actually found the spring!!! A true needle in a haystack!
Fizzy water always rejuvenates the soul!
Thanks for tuning in!
You two are hard on kick stands! Glad no one was right on you when the bike quit. It is great seeing you two work as a team on your travels. Always enjoy your videos
Thank you! We have become a pretty united team over the last 7 years of traveling together. We have some bad days, but when things go wrong, it is so much easier to work as a team and not stress out towards each other!
Thanks for riding along with us!
always giving 2up and Overloaded a "thumbs up" here in Connecticut. Peace.
You are too kind, brother!
We hope we can thank you in person one day!
I finally finished reading "Maiden Voyage. It took me longer than it should have because I started reading it just before Holy Week. I am a Lutheran pastor and this time of the year is the busiest part for a pastor concluding with Easter which is tomorrow. I loved the ending of the book and the excitement you had to give up the comfortable predictable life for adventure. I did something similar a few years back with encouragement from my wife. I realized God was calling me to earn a Masters of Divinity and work toward ordination. I had been working a town job for a local municipality with predictable income and great benefits. The kind of job people think you are crazy to leave, especially when you say that God is calling you for something else. I am now ordained leading a church and ministering in many ways. Now I am trying to figure out how to continue ministry and have more adventure with my motorcycle. For now I will sit back and watch 2 up and Overloaded. Peace from a friend you have never met, here in Connecticut.
You guys are hilarious, Tim you're a great ventrlliquist, another beautiful video
Glad you enjoyed it! I never know if I will come of seeming slightly stupid, or slightly funny 🤣 it is a thin line!
Thanks for the good vibes and for always giving positive feedback! It is greatly appreciated!
Yay! Many bikes use two springs on the side stand, one inside the other, both hook to the same posts, the outer spring often has a rubber collar on it to prevent the metal spring rubbing off paint on the frame and/or swingarm. It's a rental bike so they will take care of it but good to know for future reference. Fantastic suspension bridge video!
Wow if I am not mistaken this is your 7th year on the bike to travel across the globe. In ancient days they did it in much shorter time eg Around The World In 80 Days 😂 😜 😝 Stay safe and be happy always. God bless 🙏
🤣
Wow such an adventure & Sabah is so beautiful!
It really is! We are loving every mile of Sabah!
Your videos are sis-ses-da-bull to making people smile! 😄
🤣 That's hilarious! Thanks for tuning in and for giving us a laugh!
I wish bike on Malaysia has kick stand kill switch especially moped here like you rode before to KM 0 from Kuching, that RS150 and the rest moped doesn't has it but automatic scooters do have it for safety reason. I see many oldies in Malaysia rode bike and forget to lift the kick stand it dangerous while ride on bump or bumpy road and executing sharp corner.
Enjoying reading "Maiden Voyage" so much. LOve watching your videos. I feel like I am your friend yet you don't even know me. I hope you tour New England someday so I could share the beauty and sites of New England.
We would absolutely love to take you up on that one day! New England looks stunning and we definitely need to do some extensive touring in that part of the States.
Thanks for the support, the warm welcome, and the invite!
I hope we get to shake hands and trade stories one day!
Tim and Marisa
Cheers! Great video as usual
Glad you enjoyed it! We are having the time of our lives!
Marisa has great eyes, I would have overlooked that!
Absolutely 💯 Eagle eyes!!!
How you all got the spring back sure surprised me. Look like Marisa lucky charm works😋
Indeed! She is the best lucky charm in the world!
It’s interesting that you are switching to a more nav proper phone, I’m doing the same but I’m (I think) going with thork racing DMD T665 .
🤙🏻🤙🏻
We would love to hear what you think of the DMD once you've tested it out!
Mantap Bro 👍🏼
Thank you so much!
AGAIN, Well put TIM !!!!!
Thank you for tuning in and for the great feedback!
I am glad the "bike problem" was solved without much hassle and the ride continued safely. Looking forward to the next video.
Us too! It's never fun bent over backward under a bike on a hot and humid day! But we were so thrilled when we actually found the spring! That was one in a million!
That song deserves a sub
You are too kind! Thanks for riding along with us!
Great experience guys ❤
Thank you 🙌 We are having such an amazing time!
We are so glad that you are enjoying the ride along with us!
Just found your channel from a post y'all made on Facebook. Great stuff! Y'all do good work!
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for joining the journey!
I literally thought something more serious was going on with that little KTM.
This was a freak occurrence, and thankfully easy to fix once Marisa found that little spring!
18:38 -18:45 was epic. the music score and the searching for the spring was absolutely highlights of the vids :D
23:33 most people lucky during their jungle and boat trip to find the proboscis monkey, but you guys had it all and a very clear view of them,. amazing.
Thank you very much! We are so thankful to have seen so much wildlife and nature here in Sabah!
The whole island of Borneo is absolutely stunning!
At 21.22, you guys juz made JS Motor and Part Service famous 😊 and at 21.40, thatz the Earth Deity, guardian of the area around there. Many Chinese homes has it.
Everyone around here has been so friendly and helpful, and it is so beautiful!
Thanks for riding along with us!
Your background music is well suited for your videos😊
Thanks a lot 😊 That is fantastic to hear! We are so grateful to have you along for the ride!
another great video guys! 😁
btw just a suggestion the upcoming Borneo Tour, perhaps you can identify stopovers along the way for fruit adventure coz Borneo fruits are pretty unique
Great suggestion! We absolutely agree!
Thank you!
I suppose Marissa is so obsessed with hanging bridge, why don't you build one once you are back home, to cross any creek somewhere near your house
Possibly one day! That would be a fun project!
Long live the spring!..toinkkk!😆😁
🤣
I have been following you guys video.. Just wondering why you put the gps iphone on landscape position. I think vertical position is better for navigation and water will not seep in thru the chargin port. just wondering…. you might have good reasons for that based on your experience..
I guess I am just used to it in the horizontal position because of the old Garmin GPS units I used to use. But you make a good point about the charger not getting water in it if it is in a portrait position.
Everyone here in SE Asia uses there phones in portrait... I think I may try to change my old habits!
Pulau berhala Sandakan where my dji mavic resting forever on top
So sorry to hear that
Oh no!!! Thankfully our little DJI Mini 2 is still with us... but there have been a few close calls.
I don't think you guys have a center stand on the little orange bike. But that spring that Marissa found sure looks like a center stand spring.
" i peed there"...😂😂😂
🤣
Sabah has many bad roads (now), work in progress for maintenance or borneo highway.
That majority of the roads in Sabah are really well paved and nice.
We are loving the twisty asphalt that winds through the landscape!
Hello aunty and uncle ....❤

The one you rented was 1½ years old, right? 🥳
This all looks so warm and green and lush! I just can´t wait for Germany to finally get over its cold greyness of winter, dammit! This bloody winter was so grey! For the Cologne region where I live, a weather service reported 6 hours of sunshine throughout the entire month of November. I need light, I am on withdrawal! 😩
We have a buddy who is also from the Colongne region! We will definitely be in your neck of the woods someday in the next 5 years! Now we know to not get there until sunnier months 🤣
Stay in touch and we hope to cross paths one day!
@@2UpAndOverloaded That would be lovely! 🤗
I am not sure how rally nav device work ,should be gps. It is yellow in colour. This is used by noraly - itchy boots. All weather i guess
A weatherproof phone should hopefully solve our problems!
That's Sabah road for you, pride of the government. we call it road of the moon, and there's more worse road than that road up ahead.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for tuning in!

Where's the traffic?
Thankfully Borneo isn't nearly as congested as most of Southeast Asia!
One thing about women. God love them more.
Marisa is a wonderful woman!
