Beautiful playing, and thank you for providing this comparison. It's helped me select a recorder. I think have a similar setup as you do, and find that for the built-in XY microphones it's most effective to have the recorder inside the piano, pointed at the hammers. Gain between 5-6 works well for most playing unless ff. If it sounds too percussive, I will very slightly angle the recorder away from the hammers and more towards the string/soundboard.
Thank you for your hearty message. You have given me some good advice. Indeed, I think it is a good idea to point the microphone at the hammer, as it is a good way of getting the sound from hammers or actions. I think an ideal recording of an acoustic piano would include the sound of the action and hammers. I hope we can continue to be friends!!
Did you hook them up to an interface? Your dr-40x sounds better than other people's LOL. Also can you tell me what the pieces are especially the first one? It sounds so good. You picked really good and contrasting pieces
The dr-40x and H6 are also stand-alone using, not connected to other interfaces. Thank you for complimenting me on my own compositions made with impressions.
Thank you for your comment. All TASCAM settings are normal, with no special settings. This TASCAM recorder has a straightforward personality and is suitable for rock music.
I think dr40x has a slightly brighter and thinner tone. While h6 has a fuller, deeper sound. But I am not sure as I don't have my usual Genelec studio monitors handy now. Very nice video! Thank you so much
Thank you for your comment. I agree with your thoughts. I would be happy to know the features of genelec monitor speakers. Thanks again for your comments today!!
@@chikahiromasashi-studio225 Thank you for your reply too!! Genelecs are high end speaker made for sound monitoring, sound production, PA etc. I have a genelec 8331 which is a superb speaker for percise and accurate listening. And of course they have nice sonic performance as they are reference speaker in many studio. Additionally they also has a nice software for best-customized sound!
I liked more the Tascam. The Zoom is over compressed. On the Tascam you can hear the overtones and the sound looks more relaxed and natural. I don't know if the difference may be a question of config options in the menus.
Thanks for your comment. Certainly, I can hear overtones and is recorded straight with TASCAM. It is convenient to use it properly according to our favorite's taste and purpose.
the zoom is worth twice or almost twice as much as the tascam, something had to be better and do not think that it is very noticeable only for the most trained ears
dear Kasumyx, I also like ZOOM H6 better than TASCAM. But since there is no standard or criteria, I can't tell if it's twice. Thank you for your comment.
@@Ben777World I get questions about microphone position sometimes. I think microphone position is often difficult to explain just by words or picture(s), and I am not a professional engineer on this issue, so I cannot inform you exactly. I will just tell you that the recorder is placed on the main frame of the piano.

The zoom has a deeper, fuller sound.
Thank you for your comment, the sound of ZOOM'H6 is glossy and rich, and the cost performance is the best !
Thanks for this video, I'm thinking about going with the Tascam. Did you have specific settings inputed with it when recording this?

Hi, what's your opinion, which recorder do you think is better? By the way, great performance!
Hello, thank you for your comment. I think the ZOOM H6 is better. Because H6 has the ability/potential to express tone's gloss. Which do you prefer?
@chikahiromasashi-studio225 thank you very much! I think so

You did not show us where you placed the recorders. You should have done that!
I see in another comment that you explained this. But a photo would have been nice. Congratulations on your Bosendorfer!

@@chikahiromasashi-studio225 Thank you. I like your channel.
Where were the microphones positioned for these recordings?
Open the roof , and on Cast-Iron-frame near Wrest pins (front side). Was this helpful for you ?
How much gain did you set on Zoom H6?
I remember I set the level at about 5.5. Still, your message is a new taste^ ^
