Good job, man. Keep it up. You just saved me from blowing $100+ on something I don't even need. Thought I was going to have to buy a whole new audio interface just for iPad. I never buy Apple products but ended up getting the "cheap"6th Gen model only for my Integra-7 and DeepMind 12 desktop module's bluetooth and wifi capabilities. I have a brand new Zoom H6 still sitting in the box from last year, waiting to be put to use. Also curious to see how the ipad will communicate with a Volca Sample for some dope, Lo-fi jams. Can you make a setup vid for auria ? Like the settings u used in detail? Also there are several set up options on my h6... It recognizes it but i cant get signal after i arm auria even though it shows signal ... And my input matrix looks totally different... No one seems to know how to help me

Hello ! Thanks for the video. I recently bought Auria to use with ZOOM H6. I like it very much, but I have a doubt. When I start a new project, the image in INPUT MATRIX on my Ipad is not like yours at minute 3:50. On my iPad I only see the left column in yellow, the other buttons are not available. Why ??... I would like you help me . Thank you. ALL MY BEST !!
Do i HAVE To use batteries when using this as an audio interface? I am using Logic Pro X on mac. If i use my computers USB for power, will there be a lag?

You need to invest in the protective cover for your ZOOM!

Maria Calfa-DePaul camera tripod. The screw on the tripod is a standard camera screw that also happens to fit the zoom H6. I know because i also set it up that way!

What kind of iPad is that?
I've owned a Zoom H6 since they came out and I've never had the Zoom speaker work when recording in audio interface mode (or any mode, for that matter). Out of curiousity, I tried to get the speaker to play while recording because I didn't think that was even possible but I was finally able to to it. This is not an issue with your Zoom H6. It's just a setting in your audio app. You can turn off the Zoom speaker in your app. For my app, it's the speaker setting. If you can't find how to turn the Zoom speaker off in your app, you could post a question on a forum dedicated to your audio program. You don't have to plug in earphones to turn off the Zoom speaker. When you turn the Zoom speaker in your app off, the speaker in your iPad will work during playback. When you have the Zoom speaker tuned on, you probably won't get sound out of your iPad, PC, etc. I don't. Who wants to review what they recorded through a tiny Zoom speaker? I can't think of a reason why anyone would want the Zoom speaker playing while recording. Of course, you do want to use your earphones to work while recording but they do work when the Zoom speaker is turned off in your app. In other words, turning off the Zoom speaker in your audio app has no effect on the earphones The only time I ever use my Zoom speaker is when I was in the field and wanted to do a quick check of a recording I just made. But that's so seldom that I can't even remember the last time I used the Zoom speaker.
Just turn it off in your audio app.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve found you can do a lot with the Apple USB 3.0 adapter since you can also plug in power to the adapter at the same time. If I use it for transferring someone’s photos from a iPhone I noticed it charges the inane and iPad. So I wonder since the zoom H5 will run from USB power if using the Apple USB 3.0 adapter will also charge the iPad and power the zoom H5/H6 at the same time?
Also since the iPad still has a headphone jack, instead of splitting the signal for the headphones, can’t you enable monitor in the app that will give you your headphone jack off the iPad, and the zoom can be the other headphone output to the artist. Or this could be a third headphone this way if you still split it off the zoom. So many options these days. It’s all about the cables and his you wire it, and the software.
So far I’ve been able to use external USB 3.0 SSD hard drives, even a USB to 10GB ethernet in a place they didn’t have WiFi. I measured the power to the hard drive as 5V and 1A, that’s also what the zoom H5/H6 requires so my guess is with a good external USB power batter that does 2.4 Amp out then it could charge the iPad, power the zoom maybe? and give you extended run time if your using a lot of phantom powered microphones. For example, if your using 4 XLR mics at one (change the mic head on the H5 to another dual XLR input for w more tracks). If it’s the latest iPad Pro then maybe use a USB battery that charges USB CPD for more power. The Apple USB 3.o adapter will only put out 5V to the USB port for hard drives, zoom recorders and other things.

You will have to set the USB to multitrack connection on your zoom
why does aura pro read input 3, (mic 1) input 4, (mic 2) etc going forward from zoom h6, and input 1 is not reading input 1
Graeme Benson input 1 and 2 are reserved for the mic attachments for the zoom. So technically the 3rd is the first actual input
Zoom website says it's capable of 4 in and 2 out so are you able to record all 4 or 6 in Auria?
Yes you can. I was recording 4 in's so I don't know about 6in.
so you can record 6 tracks at once but there is only a stereo output. But can you get the six tracks out separately into your daw, one by one, implying I can break them into 6 separate tracks instead of a summed stereo track?
Yes, that is exactly what I had to do. Solo it, bounce it, and then import into Live or whatever.

having issues and hoping you could help. i have it set up with H6 and ipad, garageband sees my inputs but no levels are coming through. Levels on my H6 show as normal. all in interface multitrack mode too, any ideas?
strangely if i use the h6 XY mic i get signal shown in garage band, but using any of the XLR inputs it doesnt

I would have really liked to see you record 6 channels of audio at once into your iPad. I've yet to see anyone actually do this. I've read a couple of times people were successful doing so into Cubasis 2. But I want to SEE multitrack(6 simultaneous channels) recording into an iPad using a Zoom 6.

I tried to use the multitrack with garageband but i get no signal. Only if I select stereo Track in H6 I can access to the signal in iPad? do I need Auria Pro? why do not work with Garageband (it has all I need, why spend 50 $) ? My firmware in H6 is 2.10

I haven't tried it with Garageband... worked like a charm with Auria Pro. Anyone else have issues?
Also make sure you have an offical thunderbolt to usb CKK. I had issues with that in the past.
OK Thank you. I have the new USB 3 CKK (with the extra lightning input). In Garageband I see as Input options 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 so it seems to be recognise.... but I can not get any signal through ;-( I would prefer to use Garageband cause it has all what I need (Drummer for example) for a simple songwriter and use later the tracks in Logic in case "the idea" is worth ;-)
@@fernandoscolletion Did you solve this? I read online that someone was able to multitrack record all 6 tracks into Cubasis 2 on iPad. Maybe try Cubasis 2 instead of Garage Band?

Apple makes another camera kit that has another input to allow the iPad to charge at the same time.
Just seems easier to use a laptop or a surface pro. Im getting frustrated with the limitations of the iPad and the cobblestone workarounds it needs to work. I do photography and find it ridiculous there is no way to easily import photos onto the iPad for editing.
I did a 5 hour recording session all with battery. I can not do that with my laptop and my good soundcards use external power. You could just use the Zoom h6 and record, but this was one way of doing it. If you have a cool solution, please share. I would love to check it out.
You can use the camera connection adapter to import photos
With Affinity + Dropbox you can edit your photos better than in Photoshop. Only to organized, like in Lightroom, is not yet well implemented. A surfacePro is in many things better... but only if you pretend to do the same with a iPad. With an iPad you have other options and need a new way of thinking or to approach a project...

@@subaqueousmusic Thanks man, I am now checking something else that might be cool, Belkin has a dual lightning cable, maybe possible to use 2 microphones type SHURE MV51 at the same time! I kinda doubt it but I am trying to check with their technical support! anyway, thanks to you I will most likely to go get my Lightning to Camera adapter and try this trick, I have the ZOOM H6 four years already I think and I am happy to know I can do something else with it, BTW, I have the two extra channels adapter for it, so I can record up to 6 channels

Using the H5 or 6 it will. It runs off a battery and will last a good amount of time.

I found auria to be very unreliable. GarageBand is pretty solid.
But I get a lot of latency with real instruments in Garageband, only the virtual instruments works fine... (I have the iPad pro 10.5", so it is not a power problem, but garageband)
Fernando caras could be your interface.
It is working fine with other Apps (guitar sims etc.) only Garageband makes problems with real instruments and voices and I am not the only one in this situation (a few forum) ...

This is a bad idea...
It was a great idea and lead to a great album. ;) Maybe not the "cleanest" sound, but other musicians like tom waits have done similar things of finding unique spots and recording live to make an album.
He even used super lofi gear on purpose.
