Remember that if you're playing against someone that just mashes that wavedashing is basically useless as they don't have a single clue what you're going for anyway. Lol
Pretty much tbh I’m warrior and nb really respects my wavedash so I really only do it in small bursts if there is a lot of distance other than that nah
not true. because they'll just lose if you know the techs out of wavedash. You'll triple perfect them by primarily interrupting them with hellsweep, and then lauching them with ff3 and counterhit df2. If they are spamming moves with low start up frames just press 1+2 and db12, If they are spam jabbing then just press d 1+2 which will launch them. If you're having trouble with "wavedashing" in low ranks then that just means you haven't mastered the "perfect input" hellsweep. Which will literally get you perfects until they start premptively crouching and that's when you do ff3, since they don't know how to SSL yet, so they are easily spammed by this move without even needing to track with wavu. If you "know how to wavedash" you'll be on a 20 winstreak out of "low ranks." (more skilled version of this is using EWGF instead of hellsweep to stop them from pressing at risk of perfecting them, since it's safe on block, and since low ranks won't be able to crouch punish it. Against a hopkick spammer you use F2. Against a highcrush low spammer you press 1+2 into vortex)
Also bonus, 1+2 which will land every single time against low rank spammers, sets them up for a vortex. If you understand how Kazuya's vortex works then you'll understand why "wavedashing is not useless in low ranks" lmao. To the uninformed, while the opponent is on the ground, you mix them up with ff3 and hellsweep, but you have to wave to track their sideroll since they land on the ground face down. If they are spamming, then It's simply your job to teach them why the more experienced players allow Kazuyas to wavu in the first place, by using your initial options within the first 0-1-2- or 3 wavus. Utilizing wavedashing correctly involves understanding the tools that you have and when and when not to use them to pressure. Against low ranks, you don't even need to pressure. Just hellsweep. Understand that the opponent's low rank algorithm is simply. "I will press, because pressing = free damage" followed by "I shall not press, because I keep getting hit by DF2 and losing half my health, or get put into vortex by 1+2." as well as "I will not block low, because I do not know how to play defensively." followed by "I shall only block low, because I just got hellsweeped 7 times in a row." Another good tech against spammers even at high rank is to press D1 followed immediately by rising 4, and just keep looping this. You can even expect to land this multiple times in a loop in purple ranks before you start getting punished, so basically you can win in low ranks practically just using that and interrupting strings.
Bonus tech. Once your opponent is afraid of both hellsweep, and FF3, or they simply dislike staying in crouching state while pressured. Wavu into them and then ff into a sprint, then press DF into hellsweep before you stop running. You can delay it for a desired amount of time or simply just stand there touching them. This tech works almost every time in high ranks, since most people are just used to getting spam wavu'd and only reacting to the hellsweep if you are continuously wavu'ing.
What I understood from my experience when getting interrupted is that you should use wavedash on oki and condition them with hellsweep, once they are afraid of it they’ll most likely stop mashing and try to block it, this is the moment you use mids, repeat the process and there is the solution
Tekken 8 is the first fighting game I´ve practiced more seriously and your videos have made everything so much smoother for me, especially when I play only Reina. Every video you put out is easy to understand and high quality so thank you thank you and thank you!
Yh same I dont think I've ever actively practiced and tried to improve my game as hard in a fighting game before. I havent played since tekken tag 1, got a ps5 for Christmas n was holding off for reviews before buying a fighting game... then Tekken 8 came out n I bought it day 1 😂 glad I did though the only game where the nostalgia hasn't been completely removed just revamped and built on.
Dude that's so relatable. I've played Tekken since the 1st edition in the 90's and I never did try to play it more serious. And now finding Reina for me as one of the must fun fighters, this channel is helping me out so much. Highly appreciated Mr. Mishima. Even it's still hard and needs steady preactice.
Also practice your electrics timing out of wave dash, I usually try to randomly insert an EWGF or EWGK between WD spam while in practice, to practice different timing and make sure to hit the just frame
Tekken 8 is the first Tekken i've tried to play more competitively because fr i'm down bad for Reina i was always a Mishima main but until T8 was never able do Electrics but your videos have helped me a lot now i can do Electrics and some wavedash watch your videos and hit the lab everyday, thank you man seriously
First time I see such a good guide on wavedashing, thanks, you've gained a follower 😁 I've never really dared playing a Mishima because of EWGF and WD, now I can do EWGF more consistantly and with your guide I'm sure I'll get better at WD too
Yoo thanks so much man, glad to hear you’re improving and having fun while doing it, growth mindset is the way to go sounds like you’re doing it right. Thanks again! 🙏👊
Tried this method on keyboard for 5 minutes after having a very rough idea of what to do. Already did 6 in a row super easy on keyboard. Much harder on stick. If i ever swap to a mishima, i'm using a hitbox. Its insane how easy wavedashing is with this tutorial combined with a leverless controller
I used Slim Bob in Tekken Tag 2 but changed to Claudio in Tekken 8. Both Bob's are really cool characters. I feel like they will definitely have Bob at some point in Tekken 8. It'd be cool if they dropped Slim Bob made with Bob since they had almost the same moves aside from a few of Fat Bob's fatty patty moves that Slim Bob wasn't fat enough to do
Concise, precise & to the point! Also thanks to SF6 for implementing the input display in practice mode because of which I think Tekken 8 got influenced to follow suit. On an ending note, when is King's wavedash ???

It’s possible yeah, not sure about your case but a common issue is not doing the full QCF input for the first crouch dash. Check your command history and let me know if you’re still struggling 👍
@MishimaComplex will do. Thanks, i got the ps5 dualsense Edge, which has 2 extra triggers at the bottom . Thanks to it, i have a stable 3 EWGF and 1 WV dash , but maybe i need to use the stick, not the arrows, for stable wv dash & cancel

Why does this not work with perfect df inputs? I prefer skipping the down input, but then I can't do this form of wave dashes!
Can you do a wave dash block guide. To bait attacks. I like to dash block a lot but wave dash feels quite vulnerable
