Its kinda how ylink plays, not entirely arrows, but approaching with arrows is a good option, and salem was forcing him to approach and steve can utilize minecart tnt and blocks to hold him off so he needed something with a hit box to approach to keep salem in some sort of hitstun

Especially if they're also laggy (and with SSBU's dodgy online, that's not very far fetched), it adds to the circle of annoyingness. His optimal playstyle is no better than Sonic's. If you've played against YL, you would know why people hate him so much.

I wonder if Salem should have just fought more on the last game. He missed 90% of those minecarts, didn't use tnt or down tilt or grab, and yet had diamond equipment. Skittles adapted quite well and Salem seemed to get into this minecart side to side wavelength. Fun to watch though

Steve is almost everything I've ever wanted in a Smash Bro's character. If his melee kit was just a little more exciting he would be everything I've ever wanted. His kit is so flexible and gives creative opportunities. Really fun to see what someone who's put in the time can do with him

Main mistakes Salem made game 3 imo is throwing iron away too much and not using blocks to stop projectiles. Save iron to get out of pressure or land kills instead of using the cart as a projectile. Good stuff from both players though.

Btw for people bitching about their plays- it can be boring for some people but both are using their characters whole tool kit. It’s how they’re meant to be played in high-level games.

People who get so annoyed by young link spamming arrows often don't realize that it isn't always the young link's fault (there are some campy ass elite players though)
Yeah some young link matchups have more camping (pt, shotos, etc.) But there are so many that young link scraps. Mostly though... if your opponent is camping and you're young link... yeah you're gonna spam arrows.
Watch Toast vs. Light and tell me Young Link isn't hype.

Momentum is so crazy in this game. Every single set was a surprise, and every time I thought "oh this player has got to win this set for sure" my expectations were shattered

Both characters can be played really campy, but in this matchup one doesn’t need to. Y. Link has the boxing options to go in and pressure Steve. While Steve does too, he isn’t nearly as mobile. Link can be in his face an put on the pressure. I think a lot of the hate against skittles in this match is because of this, but he chose to be play a more projectile heavy game. At the start of the match, after passing the two blocks, he shot an arrow instead of safe pressure with normals. Kinda exemplifies my point. Steve is a great counter camper, skittles just buckled down and out camped Salem.

Sonic can rush down in some match ups and sonix already has alot of rush down moments against R.O.Bs..

Idk what you people are watching but Skittles 1,000% deserved this win. Salem was the one playing like a complete jerk. Literally camping the young link with cart and walls constantly. It’s a miracle that Skittles was able to win.
I dont think none of them "played like jerks" , just playing their characters optimally. Endermen basically relies on getting resources cuz if he doesnt he can barely do much. Salem needed good gear to compete a head on fight while yl can compete from the get go. Especially with how much pressure a young link can give salem was kinda forced to hide in a box just to play his character optimally. Salem also played well because he acknowledged this and put constant pressure, not letting salem prepare for a fair/advantageous fight, which is the best thing he could do.
This has got to be the most annoying Young Link ever. I would've rage quit. Well played though.
This Steve was even worse...which makes sense because Salem often plays defensively.

People still don't craft nearly enough blocks during a match. You literally create terrain. Use that for setups to crate anvil/tnt setups, camping lol, blocking momentum, anything besides the blockade to use time mine another block lol.

The difference is that you don't need to camp as Sonic. Steve will lose if he doesn't get mats. At least Steve's slower speed makes the fights wayyyyy more interesting than a Sonic running away and not fighting at all after a stock advantage.
