Seriously. I'm trying to learn Steve and its weird af. Like sure there's good things about him, but you have to Seriously learn this character to make him good
as someone who plays byleth, it surprised me when M2K said that the matchyup is in Byleth's favor. I've played a lot of matches against competent Steves and when they play defensively, Byleth's endlag and bad air movement can be easily exploited by a lot of steves kit.
That could just be because it’s online honestly. Online vs offline is different

You're right most people online are scared to get good at neutral so they camp at the ledge however, Salem is an amazing player in his own respect but the campy Steve is not it at all.

I'm sorry to ask but what happened to him?
Salem only uses his blocks for defense and doesn't use his block for tricking up his opponents at all, forcing him to rely on mine cart and anvil for off stage recoveries and mix ups. That's why he's always running out of materials so fast. He could be trice as good if he just added mix up blocks to his playstyle instead of ignoring them. Also he does a lot of unnecessary mincart spamming without any preplanning
Salem is really good with characters players considered NOT viable.
Steve, Hero, Zelda. And before anyone hates and says “It’s only because of online” Top players have been beaten or have been put in last game situations with mid and low tiers offline.

Steve is worse online because things like his pick loop are less reliable

These characters are direct opposites
Good recovery vs bad
Good combos vs not many combos
Short range vs long range
Good frame data vs slow frame data
interesting obeservation but Byleth's recovery is actually pretty decent, it's only their air mobility that is lacking. Byleth also has a bigger hurtbox than Steve with Steve surprisingly being considered a smaller-medium character.
I know people want to doubt this character because of online, but this is still the best player in the world being beat by steve. Online isn't as accurate as offline, but its not crazy far off seeing the results of pro players placing around the same both online and offline.

@@PurposeDriven7_ definitely not unskilled randoms. the reasons unknown people can win these online tournaments and stuff is because they werent able to participate in real ones before, and now have access to more abundant online tourneys, if they were in person they'd still be doing well

Did they nerf the block up smash continuation?
No it's just not what salem was going for you have to time it
If you want to cancel the up smash you gotta delay it on the block slightly by either doing an up tilt to up smash or charging it slightly, and if you want to finish the up smash you gotta instantly do it out of the block
Question, so what happens if steve runs out of material? Does his weapon go away and he has to get materials like in the game which means you get a lot less? Also if he has diamond does he get materials faster? Going to buy the 2nd dlc in a bit
A bit of a late question, but when Steve runs out of materials, I believe he still keeps his already crafted items.
Different material tools have different mining speed like in minecraft. The order is gold, diamond, iron, and stone and wood have the same mine speed, I believe.

I think mine cart needs fixed. It’s actually op on walk off stages and all Steve’s pretty much spam it. Maybe just make it slower, or use more materials so it can’t be spammed? What does everybody think?
Well a couple things:
1. Walk-off stages aren't tournament legal for reasons like this (not the point but worth mentioning).
2. Minecart is pretty easy to jump over and avoid. If a Steve spams it, just stay in the air/keep him in the air.
3. Minecart can be reflected, which helps a ton in certain matchups.
4. Yeah walk-off stages are prone to minecart abuse. The best counterplay to this is to stay near the center of the stage where minecart can't carry you off. Even on a small walk-off stage like pac land, there's enough time to mash out as long as you're not right near the edge.
5. It's an annoying move for sure, but it's not really good enough to require a "fix." Think of it as a wonderwing, but you can attack him during the move. As long as you're not just holding forward, you won't get hit by it too much.
Thoughts?
If they do that they need to fix his kit entirely because he doesn't have much to rely on

Yeah but you shouldn’t really hate on Steve for that you should hate on Salem for playing that way.
I would agree with you, but Steve heavily promotes that style of play. Yes there can be a more aggressive Steve player than Salem, but you would run out of materials faster. Steve also doesn’t have too many aggressive options other than the minecart, which you need iron for.

For a bralwhalla player I can say that this enderman guy is really passive. And nobody likes passive players
Cant really compare Brawlhalla to Smash here but I see where you’re coming from. Steve is typically supposed to be played passive aggressive because you have to manage your resources throughout the set.
Steve was meant to play passively even though a lot of people hate it. You already saw what happens if Steve plays offensively; he loses materials and will have no offensive options other than his very short range melee.
