Just bought a house and needed to fix a leaking pedestal sink. Thanks to this video we knew what areas to look at. New putty and an hour later, no more leak. Thank you 🏡👍😁
This was really helpful. I need to replace my bathroom sink and was really attracted to the pedestal style for my very small bathroom. However, I had some questions as to how to reach the various parts and gizmos for maintenance and repair. After watching this video for less than 2 minutes I was convinced this is NOT the style for me. If I or a friend can't easily fix perform minor repairs, this is not a candidate. Similarly, for major repairs I don't want to have to pay extra for a plumber to disassemble the whole thing just to reach the basic parts. So...thanks for steering me away from a bad choice! :-)
In the past, I have loosened the two bolts that are at the foot of the pedestal. swung the pedestal 90 degrees and letting it still support the basin. You may have to fold some cardboard between the basin and pedestal so their is still some support. At that point you can excess the down spout.
I'd replace the entire pedestal with a sink and vanity with the convenience of a counter top (for some working area) and storage underneath. I never could understand the attraction of pedestal sinks... They are about as functional as claw-foot tubs.
Obviously you are incapable of appreciating the textbook application of multiple acting methods in this powerful DIY vignette!!! There are blatant cues to the use of Stanislavski's method in this scene by Trethewey where the "actors draw upon their own feelings and experiences to convey the "truth" of the character they are portraying. The actor puts himself or herself in the mindset of the character finding things in common in order to give a more genuine portrayal of the character." The homeowner responds brilliantly with a Meisner technique based performance "that requires the actor to focus totally on the other actor as though he or she is real and they only exist in that moment."
I love the way they edit out the impossible part, the wrench on the unreachable nut.

After watching this, I finally fixed my own pedestal sink (I was replacing the faucet). Thanks for posting!

I hate that my house came with a pedestal and I want counter space plus it’s leaking sometimes 😢

Thanks so much for this, this was the most helpful video we saw.
Thanks for the video; it was very helpfulI! I was, however, able to pivot the bowl of the sink without disconnecting the hot/cold water.
great info. I am doing mine this weekend and there is no way I could get to the drain nut.
Very clear. Thank you!
thanks. very useful. by the way, the pedestal sink is suck!
Just had to do this same thing but the customer refused to let me take the sink of the wall and floor. It took me over an hour to do a 10 minute job
that replacement looks like a pain in the ass.
Somehow the pedestal magically got reassembled and back on the wall. If I were to follow this step by step, how do I get that magic at my house?
Probably plumbers union paid him to not show that step.
Usually they're all caulked in and it's a mess
I wonder how many of those Richard's replaced over the years ?
ive taken a angle grinder to cut it off..it was so seized
My repair dude don’t want to replace ours it’s leaking out where the lever is 😭 sucks the whole sink has to be removed
What type of wrench is he using to loosen the drain nut and where can I buy one?
D Bates channel locks or water pump pliers or locking jaw pliers. pretty much any home improvement store
To be done properly, a 1 1/2" capable crescent wrench.

They are wheel chair accessible, unlike a vanity.
some spaces are too small for a vanity
Dude was talking like a robot at the end 🤖
Pedestal Sink Wash Hands!
You didn't cover any step in attaching the drain assembly back to the drain line or putting the pedestal sink back together. Frustrating.
I fixed my pedestal sink too. I ripped it out and dropped it on concrete.. Worst sink ever
Love my pedestal sink so who cares what you think
I didn't know Richard had a room mate, or a blue bathroom.
He wasn't saying "roomie" - he was saying the man's name, Rumi, Arabic in origin. Or maybe you already knew that.. can't tell.

Those drain assembly/stems are garbage. Keep plumbers employed. They snag so much hair and gunk etc. Push pop up is SO much better.
The acting to end the video was horrible, but the tutorial served it's purpose

Just replace gasket
Forget all this I drilled a hole in the stopper lifted it out and will not do all this ,the sink is caulked to wall ,not worth all this .👎
I don't know why this channel bothers with all that acting. It isn't convincing and adds nothing.
I think that is how he normally is. No American told him to say it looks like a piece of jewelry. It is realistic.
