I remember getting this game with my Matrox Mystique graphics card way back then. Together with Mechwarrior 2 and (iirc) Scorched Planet. Too bad that my CPU then (a Cyrix 5x86 with 100MHz) was to weak to play this game as fluid as the PS version. Soon after I upgraded to a K6-233, which made the game a total blast! Still, the normal version looks better because of the transparent shadows and smoke effects, that the Mystique couldn't handle.
Well, on my CD there's a folder called DOS and inside that folder is a file called install.bat that I used to install the DOS version in DOSBox. Obviously you can't run the Windows version in DOSBox (unless you install Windows in DOSBox) because DOS can't run Windows executables.
@bluh654 My guess, you don't have write permissions in that location. How do you mount a HDD in DOSBox? You should use something like (if you are using Windows 7/Vista): mount c "c:\users\your_name\dosgames"
@Bombi111 OK, let's try this again (my German is even worse than your English). 1. Haben Sie das Destruction Derby 2 CD? 2. Hat die CD sogar die DOS-Version? 3. Siehst du irgendwelche Fehlermeldung?
@Bombi111 In diesem Fall werde ich vermute, es ist die Windows-Version und kann nicht in DOSBox/D-Fend ausgeführt werden. Sie könnten versuchen Sie es in Windows.
@NIFUable 1. Get a Matrox Mystique videocard (+ other hardware you need for a Win95/98 PC) 2. Install Windows 95 or 98 on that PC (maybe it would run on XP, I doubt Vista or 7 would work) 3. Install the necessary drivers 4. Install DD2 Matrox version and enjoy the enhanced graphics AFAIK, that's the only way to run the Matrox version. It's a Windows game, so there's no way to run it in DOSBox.
@bluh654 You have the CD? There should be a directory called DOS on the CD. So, in DOSBox change to that directory and start the installer with install.bat. BTW, if an exe file says it's a Win95 executable then you obviously can't run it in DOSBox, you have to run it in Windows instead.
but DD1 (RAW) stills better, you can also upgrade your car and it have got many races aith allot of cars sometimes the resolution does not matter on how good graphic is the game
zirkoni88 is that there seems other DOS games, example: Stunts one thing: you have to download this game for DOS? without being Win95, it makes my whole computer crashes, it does everything change color and give a bizarre zoom ... (sorry for my bad english possible, I use a translator to speak English (I'm from Brazil), and he is not very good)
Derick Cortoppasse Fabro Boemer Stunts is a much older game, that's why it looks so outdated compared to this. This is still a commercial game which means you have to buy it. On the game CD you have both Windows and DOS versions.
What a game this was childhood memories right there.
The soundtrack is so badass
I miss the engine sound in the beginning
anyone else feel that this music is real metallica sounding?
Nope
That's the 3rd Destruction Derby title on PSX and about 4 years newer than DD2. So it's actually DD3, DD4 if you count Destruction Derby 64.

thank you for the information!

And the speed? I found a version, which is running on win 7, but the menu is to fast, the game is to slow :(

mount c "c:\users\your_name\dosgames"
Maybe a problem with multiple CPU cores? Try setting the game to use only one core (task manager -> set affinity).
And using DxWnd might help also...

1. Do you have the Destruction Derby 2 CD?
2. Does the CD even have the DOS version?
3. Do you see any error message?
btw when i say DD1 i mean destruction derby RAW
can you say me how i run this game with the matrox version??The problem is there is no dosbox file and it says that dd2.exe cannot run in dosmode?
@bluh654 You have the CD? There should be a directory called DOS on the CD. So, in DOSBox change to that directory and start the installer with install.bat.

@zirkoni88 thank you so much i got it running finally!
hey man how did you run it with dosbox?
i tried to but it says "this is a windows 95 executable"
help please?
"miscellaneous error: can't make directory GAMES for install path c:/GAMES/DD2"
now what does that mean?
You could try running the game in a window with DxWnd. And if that fails then maybe Virtual PC with Windows 95/98.
@zirkoni88 i tried to install it that way but it says that my processor is below minimum ._.
Can you play this whit an image?
Ooo....I don't know, what can I do, I don't have DD2 CD.....nur download. :( There is no chance to play:?
@bluh654 Open DOSBox options and change core=dynamic, cycles=max and cputype=pentium_slow.
@Bombi111 Abandonia hat die volle CD-Image in den ISO Cellar.
Really? DD1 runs in a 320x200 resolution and DD2 in 640x480.
i allways drive backwards in red pike arena so that my car is not as fast breaks :))
PSX Version > PC Version
So? It's a Windows executable, try running it in Windows 7.
I tried. I cannot see anything, because the picture is soo bad...even if I chance the compatibility
Can this run on DOSbox ?
Yes, that's what I used to make this video.
Run it in Windows.
but DD1 (RAW) stills better, you can also upgrade your car and it have got many races aith allot of cars
sometimes the resolution does not matter on how good graphic is the game
How can I play it?
Dosbox : "This is a windows 95 executable" :(
yes :(
Then try to run it into windows 95.
Sound sucks on Pc... is in Ps1 better.
ITS REAL?!?!?! DOS?!?!?!?!?!?
What's so strange about that?
zirkoni88 is that there seems other DOS games, example: Stunts

zirkoni88 ok
