I just got the M2 MacBook Air 13.6 with 16 gigs of ram, and 512 SSD storage. This is my first laptop, and I love it. I'm used to high end Dell desktops. My last Dell had Windows 7 pro with 2T hard drive. I used to have a website, and build my own web pages, but don't have it anymore. Trying to figure out what photo editor I should subscribe to. I used to use Photoshop 5.5. What do you recommend, Photoshop or Lightroom? I chose the Silver color, cause of all the people saying Midnight and Space Gray had lots of smudges, and fingerprints. Was not impressed with sound, is no better than 13.6 Air.
I went from Intel 2020 MacBook Air and went straight to the M2 MacBook Air 15 inch with 24GB Ram and 256 SSD storage and its a definite powerhouse!
I don't really undestand why people want face ID on a mac. Unlocking with touch ID takes literally a split seconds and it happens whenever you want not whenever you will be close to the monitor. Sounds like a nightmare to me when your macbook will unlock every time you look at it. There are plenty of situations where you want it to stay locked on your desk while you there.
@@JohnSmith-uz3qp Just because Windows had it doesn't mean mac have to have it. Still not convinced, I don't see any benefit to it. Like I said, it takes a split second with touchID and your Mac is unlocked whenever you want to not whenever you're in front of it. Just a sample scenario: you come back to your mac after an hour and you're not sure what window you left. Now when you sit back in front of it there are some people around. You may want to wait this couple of seconds or minutes before unlocking but with faceID you lose that control.

The moment you upgrade the 15-in Air (MAYBE unless you're using the education discounts), it is probably worth going for an Apple-refurbished 2021 14-in MacBook Pro instead.
Great review and unboxing of this 15in MBA. I like the midnight blue a lot. And dark blue is not a deal breaker with the fingerprints for me.
fingerprints arent the problem. You will see lots of scratches over time tho.

Hopefully Apple will move the Midnight color to the Macbook Pro, but even if they don't, I'll still be picking up one of these.
I just purchased mine a few hour ago and already I'm loving it. I got the Midnight, 256GB. I mainly use this laptop for writing... nothing but writing.

I believe those are USB 4 ports, not Thunderbolt 3 ports. Similar but not exactly the same.

The MacBook Air 15" isn't all that great. You'll probably would want buy a MacBook Pro/MAX after a couple of weeks with the MBA. The vents on both MBA and MBP is very annoying.

I do not understand why you need to sell this 8Gb laptop with 256Gb storage and then at the end state that you made a video of why people should buy the upgraded one. Of course, people should buy the upgraded one, but that comes into 14" Pro territory. I had one in my hands today, man is it ever a sleek looking laptop. Here in Canada.... Base model CAD $1749 add to that the taxes. Get the proper laptop... I would be going far over the 2k mark in my currency. Apple made a marketing blunder and is using the techtubers to bring in the sales, don't be like that.
$1749 is more or less current USD>CAD exchange rate. All the USD prices presented in these videos also need to have state/local taxes added to them too (if applicable). Base 14” Pro is still 16% more expensive then the equivalent upgraded 15” Air (16GB/512GB), before tax, and it’s got a 1.1” smaller display while packing in a lot more performance. Apple’s pricing models are intended to challenge you. If you plug your laptop into an external monitor a lot of the time and have a heavy workload the extra $$$ for the 14” Pro makes sense and 14” display is ok for occasional portability, if you mainly use the built in display then the 15” Air (upgraded or not) offers space and portability at a much lower cost (than a 16” Pro). Fact is base model 15” Airs will fly off the shelves (going by the current used market for Airs which is primarily base models)…
Al van der Laan - I agree with your comment 100%! I have the base model shown in this video (mine is silver). My use case is basic; web surfing, email checking, social media posting, and a photo/video edit once in a while. I’ve not unboxed mine yet, I’m a small channel TH-camr and will make an unboxing video of mine. I’m a first time Apple laptop user and have never owned a laptop. I knew exactly what I was getting when I chose the base model, if I need extra storage I have several external SSDs I can use. As for the 8 gigs of unified RAM, my use case should not require more than that. If there’s one downside to my purchase it’s the future proof aspect, however, since I have no plans to change workflows from my 2021 M1 24” iMac with 16 GB of unified RAM and a 1 TB SSD to my M2 15” MacBook Air, I’m perfectly fine with my decision and use case for my M2 15” MacBook Air.
Come down to Oregon it’s 5 hrs from the border and u can get the base model for 1299 no taxes or 1499 for the second up model.

@@li-ham803 I’d challenge that comment. Apple lists the base MacBook Air 15” for US1,299. 1,299 * 15% (NZ GST) * 1.65 (currency exchange) = NZ$2,464.85, list price on Apple NZ site NZ$2,499. Now, they have to hedge their bets on currency fluctuation and any additional shipping overhead, but that’s not much mark up on USD pricing.
