Warzone was groundbreaking from other past games. The roster could have been bigger like attitude did, I kinda wish it was harder to beat the game though.
@Thanos Streams in regards to what had came before. Such as Raw and Royal Rumble for the 16 bit consoles. It was leaps and bounds ahead. However didn’t hold up for long.
I was never a huge fan of actually playing War Zone, but it gets full credit for making me fall in love with create-a-wrestler modes. I had never experienced anything like it before and it's been the main draw for me in wrestling games ever since.
I had the N64 version and the thing I hated most about this version was that it didn't let you select your opponents. Your opponents were chosen for you. That would have made a huge difference as far as long term play value went. I had dreams about matching my creations with each other but thankfully this was possible with Attitude since it let you select your opponents.
This was one of the first games I ever remember playing. In fact I still have it! This video has made me want to dig it out but I’m worried I’ll just disappoint myself
God this game had so much going for it, the presentation is amazing for it's time. If only the controls were better, then it could've been up there with the AKI games.
I unironically and unashamedly love this game. It's clunky and awkward, but it was just too much of a treat for someone that was just getting back into wrestling at the time. Also becoming world champion as Freddie Mercury showed what a great feature create-a-wrestler truly is.
I think Bulldog was trying to read off of a cue card. He recovers when he gets to the end of it. Also, Bret can cut some good promos! I don't know why he gets so much hate cutting promos, I always thought he did well.
Great trip down memory lane. Got this bundled in with my PlayStation for my 9th birthday. Was the best thing since sliced bread at the time. Drinking in the nostalgia.
I was so excited to buy this game as a kid on 1998. I remember when it came out HBK was already on the shelf and his trunks and roster was already out of date 😂 The best part was by far being able to play the entrance musing in the settings

I started watching wrestling in around 1984 and stopped in 1995. I saw somebody playing Warzone in late '98 or early '99 and it made me start watching wrestling again. Not because the game was good. It just amazed me to see what wrestling had become and what happened to some of my favorite superstars. Been a Superfan ever since.
Being that PS1 was the first cd playing console my family ever owned, this game blew my mind. The FMV parts of the game was new to us and seeing live footage in a video game was amazing at the time. We played this game like crazy and we didn't have other wrestling games to compare to until later. So it was all fun. Up until we played REVENGE. We had to rent a N64 the weekend just to play it, but man, that game is fantastic. But I really wished REVENGE had proper CD Quality music and FMV movies. That would be an awesome remake. @@mcqueenx75 what games were better? revenge and no mercy are considered the greatest by the majority from what ive seen. not too many other games get the same praise.

Nostalgia at it's absolute FINEST. I forgot all about this game, awesome to see it in action again.
The very first wrestling game I owned as a kid and I loved every bit of it! This brings back so many memories! Thanks for this video!
Even in a video game the legend pulls a fuggin chin lock, what a treasure davey is. Great work here, ty.
I really want to see this guy cover all the old wrestling games.
He has a few vids where he covers older games than this btw
Looks like he is tbh
Another interesting thing about the combat system is damage depends on the time limit. Set a match to 30 minutes, and the match can easily push the 10 minute mark before the opponent goes red.
In 5 minute matches, the match is over in 3 minutes or less before the opponent is red.
Interesting. Would have been nice if there were more things to do in the game like game modes or backstage area fighting.
I saved and saved, mowed lawns all summer to get this on my.ps1 when it came out..I had a magazine article, I read OVER ANS OVER. Might not be n64 quality, but I still LOVED IT
I definitely remember staring at that magazine article for months.
My dad brought me the official strategy guide and i read that book for hours
The Ahmed Johnson shouting promo from this game is legendary
always loved the music in this game, my first wrestling game in a console.
I remember my cousin Gabriel let me play this. I was madly obsessed with Kane and Undertaker. Smackdown 2 was my favorite ps1 wrestling game. Used to play that all day. I got a wrestling game from grandma and grandpa every year until svr 2006.
I remember how excited my older brother was when he rented this game and brought it home to play. I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous the wrestlers looked. And how my brother struggled with the nuclear launch codes to pull off a move or finisher.
Undertaker Was The Only Wrestler That Looked Remotely Accurate
I love that you threw in the Davey Boy Smith chin lock Easter egg for all of the Reliving the war enthusiasts!
Great work 👌
A friend and I used to play this day and night. Literally stay up all night.
We discovered all the glitches. So many I can remember.
So much fun playing this game!
I had the same kind of friend, except we were playing attitude
that was me bro! damn, small world! we had some good times
@@CreepingDe4th81 we played that one to death as well 🤣 good times
@@sappyfoot yes we did, Until that one time... 😳
@@TheRealRollerCodster no doubt my friend cheers!
That's very interesting to see that the wcw vs wwf war expanded to even video games truly a great time to be a wrestling fan
I actually remember this game fondly… I was also in my teens and didn’t know any better. But still I did enjoy the video promos the most.
19:04 strong disagree on this one. WarZone commentary absolutely was a strong highlight of the game. I can't recall any wrestling game having a better commentary than WarZone to this day. It sounds natural and has a ton of recorded lines. JR & Vince are just great.
Oh that clang. I loved this game. I still play it. It blows, but I love it.
"Play-er One! Play-er One!"
Jesus, this was like a Nostalgia Omnibus. Between the mentions of the games on the SNES and WWF Warzone, it's like you covered my entire childhood.
...How long have you been watching me??
Man I hated this game and Attitude.. But Attitude had the best menu music of any wrestling game back then
Attitude was fun
@@Dotman89 only thing I remember was writing songs over the menu music.. I think I played with Kane on that one spamming his sidebuster because it was the only input I remember
Mane I absolute love this game ... These were the real wrestling games ... Nowadays it's just all about graphics ... As a kid, these classic games were everything
Man I wanted this game for Xmas when I was young. Pops wound up getting me Zelda Ocarina of time..after renting warzone I was so happy he got me Zelda cuz I couldn't play warzone worth a damn!
Glad you’re back to video game content
my first wrestling game was Smackdown: Know your role 2. Man I played it to shreds with my brother. You could play season mode with multiple superstars and controllers. I picked the Undertaker and my younger brother picked Kane. We won all titles together as the Brothers of Destruction.
Smackdown 2 had the best season mode for years. I made all my caw I created and friends created, friends in storyline. A feature that's missing to this day!!!
i spent wayyy too much time on the first two smackdown games. The season in 2 was the best organized out of any of those games but loading screen hell and you had to watch all the life meters fight each other but i still poured hours and hours into it
Excellent video as always boss!
I remember first seeing this in Xtravision years ago and rented it immediately. It was great, but World Tour and Revenge were much more fun wrestling games and after you played them it was harder to enjoy Warzone.
Actually really enjoyed this!! Definitely would like more videos like theses!!
Warzone was so clunky I couldn’t go back once I played Revenge.
I go back to it to this day
Revenge was wrestling heaven compared to this trash.
@@kiptinobvious1622 absolutely
The nostalgia this brings back is nice. I was fully into all this stuff back then. Simpler times back then.
6:27 Hard to believe that at one time, The Rock's charisma was just under 1/2.

"IF YOU WANNA STAMP UP TO PUNCHY, BRINGUM TOYS!"
My dad bought this when it was released at Christmas on PS1 it was great, I still couldn't understand Ahmed Johnson during his promos even in this game. I used to make a custom character and I used A.J finisher the pearl river plunge I loved that move, loved going up the TV tower and watching the video promos of Owen Hart and HBK etc
Aged badly, but my memories of this and Attitude are close to my heart. I loved playing this game when it came out, and being able to put myself in the game with create a wrestler was awesome. This got so much play on my PS1 as a kid.
Warzone was groundbreaking from other past games. The roster could have been bigger like attitude did, I kinda wish it was harder to beat the game though.
Considering that it was the first non 16 bit wrestling game. It was groundbreaking for the time.
@@chicken31947 sorry what I meant was the first non 16 bit WWF game.
@@chicken31947 for the ps1?
@Thanos Streams in regards to what had came before. Such as Raw and Royal Rumble for the 16 bit consoles. It was leaps and bounds ahead. However didn’t hold up for long.
Blame the developers.
WWF wants new guys to the roster yet the developers fought to keep guys like Bret Hart, British Bulldog and Ahmed Johnson.
Even Warzone let us create everyones favorite Sub Zero knockoff, remember that.
The Ahmed Johnson videos are classics
The Intro Was so damn intense. Loved it!
I feel like 40% of the time the game would match you up against yourself. It was obnoxious. 🤣
This was one of the first games I ever remember playing. In fact I still have it! This video has made me want to dig it out but I’m worried I’ll just disappoint myself
We must protect wrestling bios at all costs thank you for your uploads bro
Maaaaan, I loved this game. So many good matches with my people's back then
This was my first WWF game I played. Many memories!
God this game had so much going for it, the presentation is amazing for it's time.
If only the controls were better, then it could've been up there with the AKI games.
Brings back so many good memories. I was so happy when I got War Zone as a kid for christmas.
The greatest wrestling game ever until WCW vs. nWo: Revenge came out.
World tour beat that
Try Super Fire Pro Wrestling X on the SNES.
WCW vs the World was definitely better
You're videos are great. U do great research into the games as well here.
This was the first game where I created characters that I would use in every wrestling game since. Good times!
Yah me too especially his 1993 till 1997 ones in WWF and also in WCW.
Great trip down memory lane. Got this bundled in with my PlayStation for my 9th birthday. Was the best thing since sliced bread at the time. Drinking in the nostalgia.
I was so excited to buy this game as a kid on 1998. I remember when it came out HBK was already on the shelf and his trunks and roster was already out of date 😂
The best part was by far being able to play the entrance musing in the settings
Do more old wrestling game reviews brother I love your content and the depths you go to in your research :)
Ah memories! I owned the n64 version as a kid so is the first time seeing the FMV. You can tell Bulldog is reading off something in his promo 😂. Just like Owen unfortunately, amazing wrestlers but not great on the mic. Ace video, you earned a subscriber.
there are no fmv's in the n64 version.
@@HansPeter-vv2rc yes I know, that's why I said it's the first time I've seen them
I started watching wrestling in around 1984 and stopped in 1995. I saw somebody playing Warzone in late '98 or early '99 and it made me start watching wrestling again. Not because the game was good. It just amazed me to see what wrestling had become and what happened to some of my favorite superstars. Been a Superfan ever since.
Hardy Boyz did the motion capture and was left off both games smh
Yes @Wrestling Bios.. nailed it again mate.
I'm still mad that I didn't know that Shawn Michaels had that red alternate attire and I never got to play the game with it. WTF
Thanks for the video!
I've heard a rumor that Chyna and Sable were meant to be part of the roster but were cut for unknown reason.
Loved this, looking forward to you doing Attitude.
