lovely shots our kid, loved the fallen trees in the water shots, especially the first one ... ortho and pan-f are my go to landscapes films ... love the look of Ortho... adds that extra bit to landscapes .. :)
Hamilton! How nice to stumble across someone doing great photography here. I've just returned to film photography myself and these are the sorts of images I aspire to. Great work.
The main reason for the sky not being as dark as you wanted is because the film is insensitive to red light, so unless the sky was really red/orange it won't give dark gradations. Nice photos by the way, stellar composition.
Darryl Carey thanks for watch and checking out my Instagram. That was a great day. To be honest, winning that competition is the reason why I started taking photography a bit more seriously. How is the Gallery going?
@@StephenMilner Its good to hear that winning the awards pushed you into doing more photography, your landscape work is amazing. Gallery not going so well these days, but that may change.
Very nice. I'd be interested in medium format but I'm now just trying to get back into 35mm film, and that in the middle of a pandemic. We'll see how this plays out. Keep up the good work and be safe.
@@StephenMilner Because I have a lot of 35mm equipment and I haven't used it for a long time. I'm eager to put it to use again. I'll consider picking up a medium format camera and trying that also.
@@basicforge Awesome, that makes it easy to start shooting film again. One thing to keep in mind, medium format is very rewarding and is better fo scanning. I guess it all depends on what you will be doing with the film.
@@StephenMilner Yes, I haven't figure out yet the best way to scan these in. I have a Pentax K20D and I think I will try to get a bellows for it so I can digitize my negatives that way. I can currently do it buy the negative only fills about 1/5th of the frame so my 14.6 megapixel camera becomes about 3MP. I also have a Canon 1ds mark II that my brother gave me but I'm not ready to invest in that platform. I prefer the purity of the Pentax K-Mount system.
really enjoyed this vid and your other vids. I bought my Mamiya 7ii a few years ago with a 80 & 150mm lens. I ordered a 50mm tonight on ebay and looking forward to using it. When I was checking out ebay was very surprised how much these cameras have gone up in price. I think I paid about $2.5k AU with the lenses and they seem to be a bit more than that now. Just on film developing costs I can recommend doing it yourself. It's pretty easy to do, the gear isn't expensive and quite satisfying. You just need to ensure you have your developer temperature right and obviously the time right, and I've found results to be at least as good and often better than commercial labs.
The 50mm is my favourite lens for landscapes and I hope you enjoy it too. They are in demand and are expensive because the lenses are great. My camera body was the 7, it had the 7ii upgrades and they sell for about $2.5k on their own now. I have some of the equipment on my eBay watch list but I haven't researched the chemicals yet. What equipment and chemicals do you use?
Hey man Hi I used the Universal Quick Release L Plate Vertical Bracket For Nikon D750 but had to modify it slightly by cutting the lip in the bottom plate with a small hacksaw. It was easy to do. You can see my list of filters and other equipment here: stephen-milner.com/blog/2020/3/28/my-gear-list
@@StephenMilner I knew it... so Yorkshire :-). What is it with Yorkshire folk going to the far ends of the earth and being into photography, I'm from Doncaster, in Chicago now :-)
I very much enjoyed the video and the images, but I very nearly didn't get to see any of it because your preamble was so long and repetitive. I wonder how many people give up before they get to the good bit? Fabulous images though, and it would be interesting to see a direct comparision between this film and a more conventional panchromatic film.
Try a medium yellow, or even orange filter for the sky to get clouds to show up when using orthochromatic film, and filter out ultraviolet, too. Here's a nice article on it. chestofbooks.com/arts/photography/The-Fundamentals-Of-Photography/Chapter-XII-Orthochromatic-Photography.html
Awesome Video Stephen and the photos have a nice look to them, still waiting for my Ilford Ortho to arrive from OZ.
Just Subscribed 😀
Darryl Carey thank for watching and subscribing. I am interested to hear how you do with this film when you receive it.
Really an interesting video Stephen and fantastic results!

Thanks. They are nice films but I find them tricky to expose correctly. I'm looking forward to trying them both out again in the future.

So nice to see someone really enjoying his photography😎✌️. Thanks for letting us join you and thanks for the nice pictures👍!

Thanks for a great video. I enjoyed throughout the video as one of the film lover and new in contents creator
Thanks for watching!
Great video! May I ask what L Plate you are using on that camera? It’s so hard to find one that is available and compatible!
Thanks. Mine is a modified Nikon bracket. Have a read in the comments. I get this question a lot✌️
Just noticed something on your Instagram, you won D-Photo landscape photography award 2018 which was held at my Gallery.

Nice shots! I'm waiting for my first roll back. Thinking it could be a staple for my Hasselblad.
Have you ever tried the Rollei Infrared?
MrJenco2 thanks. I have thought about trying some of the Rollei films but haven’t got to them yet.
