making a trailer hitch for my tractor bucket

- Need to move my trailer into a tight spot (too tight for a truck) so I can haul some construction debris to the dump.
I don't like the clamp-on style hitches on the market, but I still want something that "clamps on" with no bucket mods.
1. I can't see them from from my seat on the tractor
2. They are known to bend the bucket blade
3. Their lift point is a bit far forward, artificially increasing the weight of the load for the front end loader. My tractor is small; I need all the mechanical advantage I can get.
4. I have all the parts to make a better one.
I bought a 2”hitch receiver mount for
$ 20 years ago and welded to to top of the bucket, in the same place.
It allows me to move trailers, attach a wench if I want.
I usually have have a mount with a tow shackle clevis on it for pulling stumps and lifting things.
I can share any of the mounts with my truck.
You beat me to it. I was going to say, grind all of that crap off of your ball mount and weld a receiver to your bucket. Later you can make or buy mounts for a shackle or a chain grab hook. You could also make a boom that mounts in the receiver and is supported by the front of the bucket. The list is endless.
Some peoples mind is on a higher level of problem solving. Good work and GOD BLESS!
A good step bit will make your life easier when it comes to drilling large holes in flat bar. It makes a cleaner hole and won’t grab like a twist drill.
Ah, good tip. Thanks!
weld or bolt on a piece of 2.5 inch tubing 3/16 wall. brace bucket under tubing to keep bucket from bending
The top I'd weld a reciever
I wanted something removable, but I'm starting to think welding would be better. Or at least bolting. This project was fun, but it is a little janky.
well done
For the bottom I'd make it long enough to see
The longer you make it, the less weight it can hold
