It dropped to around 13-18 fps in overworld on my ps3 hard drive, had to buy a solid state drive just to play the game, and I was not the only one at the time some other people including one of my friends from work mentioned it happened to him I was the one who recommended putting in a solid state drive and the next week he told me he put it in and it fixed the problem for him as well.
So no it was almost a perfect port of the crappy ps2 but not quite, although nothing can top the Switch port hahaha what a laugh, thank gosh I never bought a Nintendo Switch since they have memory leak and crappy performance so most games can give terrible fps, why the heck people still play a Switch with a barely 2-3fps if you are licky Nvidia Tegra K1 gaming tablet back from 2015 or so and have a chip from Nvidia only up the clock rate by around 4-6% compared to that Tablet that released a year or 2 before the Switch if I remember right because I owned that crappy Tablet back then before the Switch released. Most people’s standards are so low I could make my own gaming console and it could have memory leak and crappy performance and it woild still sell. We need some new gaming companies to show up as many people are getting dumber and buying crap, I need more games to release so I can find more good games cause right now I see no reason to buy most games only a very select few and it is getting more rare as of late because some games I want to play have terrible bugs in the game making me not purchase and play them, I no longer pre-order anything and wait for the news on how games run which is such a freaking pain to have to wait weeks after a game releases like what kind of world we living in that crappy turd companies can get a way with this my gosh I miss the older gaming era’s before this became a thing they actually put effort into games and cared about their own kind (humans) nowadays most humans suck like if they rolled over and died I wouldn’t bat an eye because of the way they treat me I think of them as nothing kore than dust to go back to earth from which they came and hopefully be born anew and be a better person in their next life.
My dream is a Tales Of Symphonia Remake on the Tales Of Arise engine, but mainly keeping the story and characters. It would be amazing. (Kind of like FF7 Remake)
As long as they make it cell shaded so it holds up for 20 or 30 years to come and give us a gurd button and not stupid dodge button to slow combat speed down every-time you gotta flip back to dodge something. Arise characters look like cheap model figures with no spark to them like a manikin so Tales of would need to make characters look better like the original game.
I absolutely love Tales of Symphonia! It's one of my favorite games of all time. There is an excellent cast of characters, great music, fun combat, a sweet story, you name it. I do agree with you about the dungeons though. Welgaia is pretty much impossible without a guide. lol I'm glad you enjoyed it after giving it another try.
Thanks for the video. I received the game as a gift from a friend. The game ran decently on my pc so I guess I was lucky in that regard. Good game overall. It laid foundations for later games in series to improve upon. (But some of dungeons really were test patience with the amount of puzzels they had.)
Glad I came across this video again just as I finally started playing this game, after having bought it on Steam on a sale a while back So far, I'm not particularly upset with the Steam version. The 30 FPS cap is annoying, and gameplay outside combat can feel a bit awkward sometimes, but overall works well enough to be enjoyed. Though I'm playing many years after you tried, so it's likely got a lot of new fixes since then Unfortunately the combat feels super dated, especially since I haven't played any Tales Of games before Vesperia and I'm used to having Free Run The story and characters have intrigued me so far though, so I'll continue playing
@@CommRio Yes, it's such a game changer for the Tales series. Symphonia is just weird as a result. They've moved the battles to a 3D field, but you're still stuck in a few 2D planes determined by the positions of the enemies
Me : Yes a remake. NAMCO : NO . A remaster with bugs , take it or leave it. Me : RPCS3 + PS3 version NAMCO : meme from star wars revenge of the sith : I HATE YOU
i can't find the right platform to play it ... i have access to all of them but every version have its pros and cons ... can't decide (even emulation have bugs and glitches) ... i think there is a way to play it on pc in 60fps now with a lot of the previous issues fixed ... so i'm considering that
Gamecube: tech glitch, 60fps smoother combat arts and also easier to dodge bosses and monsters attacks, audio volume with music, sfx, voices is all normalized and audio is higher quality kbps and no annoying s’s when people are talking with the s letter in it. Ps2 and ps2 being ported to all consoles and pc: 30fps combat arts seem not very smooth and harder to dodge boss and monster attacks, audio is crazy loud and lower audio quality and s’s sound like crap when people are talking with letter a letter s in a word, Casino has terrible chances so you are better off farming gald and just playing it for fun if you don’t mind losing a ton especially the slot machines, no tech glitch for both s and t arts, only two added cinematic scenes in the whole entire game which lasts for about 4-10 seconds which is getting the thing to fly in the game for first time and said character getting a power I will not spoil both of which are added in first half of the game, wrong character talking in very few scenes in later half of the game I think one was in Falnoir and another somewhere else which is jarring to hear someone talking in another character’s body, text errors that was never fixed from the ps2 game such as concentration saying in ( ) that it is not always affective which was a mistype that is only in the ps2 game and was messed up thinking it acted like glory which it doesn’t concentration never gets interrupted and the gamecube version words it correctly says Concentrate and to the right it says and then below Concentrate it says this: Avoid staggering while casting And yes I still my tales of symphonia on my gamecube in my house to this day, just played it yesterday and yes concentrat 100% of the time never hets interupted a very useful and helpful Compound Ex Skill especially if playing on the hardest difficulty.
Loud audio that you complain about is from the ps2 port of this game, Namco only upped the graphics from the ps2 port, they never changed anything that came from the ps2 it has been proven from people on the pc deep diving into the pc port. If you wan to play with audio at the right volume and 60fps and tech glitch to be able to have t and s arts you need to play on Dolphin or gamecube. You should not buy another port of this version it is a pile of crap and every new port is getting more new bugs and problems, not to mentioned the first tower in beginning of game meeting Remiel for first time the scene is missing a couple boxes worth of dialogue that they never add in and it makes it makes it a crappy boring scene and makes less sense.
Yeah it’s cause it’s ported over from ps2 to newer consoles and they haven’t had any devs rework the coding in the game before releasing it, shows how much hire up Namco worker/workers care about the game.
It has been proven on pc via a guy or a couple with coding it to run at 40fps that it can at least be increased be increased by 10fps with no negative affects. Namco is just really ran by scummy hire ups.
I stopped buying their Tales games after tales of Beseria, didn’t like the art direction and no guard hust dodging and ai teammates failing to dodge many attacks and artwork not looking gorgeous cell shade so it can hold up for 20 years or so, and the dungeons being long and boring looking for the most part most looked looked very gray and bland amost almost like a boring dirt or grey kind of world, and the story was not even that interesting no really cool plot twists nor anything amazing happening unlike all Tales of before it not to mention 3 quarters of the way in story became trash, combat mechanics were the only good thing improved of hacking and slash your sword and other weapon was much better compared to past but to get rid of guard button and other problems I mentioned above make it one of the worst Tales of games ever, I even rate it lower than Dawn of the new world cause at least that game didn’t feel bland nor significantly ruin the combat and so forth heck even the music was better in it than Arise.
I think the worst affender of Arise was the dodging as it took at least 2-3 seconds longer compared to guarding and it slowed down the combat and made it boring. I think they rushed this game out and shouldn’t have. Also there is way more billions of people than there were in the world back when Tales of Symphonia came out and gaming was less popular in North America as it is nowadays there is way more gamers and also back then or at least at that time not as many people were buying the genres of rpg’s and jrpg’s, not to mention females were laughed at in North America if they were a gamer so less females buying games like nowadays and we had no social media and what not to sell said games just tv commercials or seeing the game sitting on the shelf at Gamestop and other electronic stores. If Tales of Symphonia had all that back then like the newer Tales of Games have now the sales would have been even higher and first place would always go to Tales of Symphonia so you can’t give me a sales chart and expect to believe your inaccurate chart with all of these variables above, sites that post this think us people with real brains are dumb, nice try.
The Ps3 port was decent. Unfortunately 30 fps but no crash, no bug. And it came with the sequel.

The Ps3 port + RPCS3 + 4K

That would be nice if unfortunately unlikely

Oh god I didn't show Welgaia in the video for obvious reasons, but that one was a rough dungeon.
Playing the Remaster on PS5 RN and enjoying it.
Thanks for the video. I received the game as a gift from a friend. The game ran decently on my pc so I guess I was lucky in that regard. Good game overall. It laid foundations for later games in series to improve upon. (But some of dungeons really were test patience with the amount of puzzels they had.)
I'm glad the PC version is working for you (especially since it is far cheaper than the Remaster).
Good content. I haven't played this game since GC. I have the PS3 version digital.
Got the best version right from the start. Nice
Glad I came across this video again just as I finally started playing this game, after having bought it on Steam on a sale a while back

The free run mechanic was such a crucial upgrade for the series. I'm glad the Steam version has been alright for you so far.
@@CommRio Yes, it's such a game changer for the Tales series. Symphonia is just weird as a result. They've moved the battles to a 3D field, but you're still stuck in a few 2D planes determined by the positions of the enemies
I loved symphonias puzzles i miss the time when we had more stuff to do in tales games other than fighting monsters and following tje storycutscenes.
Thank you for the review!
Just started the video, but I'm glad you're about ToS, it's my favourite game of all time
Because it's great and will always be great! :) :)
I want it to Remake.
Me : Yes a remake.
NAMCO : NO . A remaster with bugs , take it or leave it.

Good stuff as always man, thanks.

There must be a legit reason why it's not 60fps in ps4 surely I mean it is on bloody GameCube a much older system

This video should be titled Why you SHOULDNT play ToS. 90% of what you talk about is negative??
It ain’t remastered it’s ported
Exactly the ps2 port to be precise and a very very very bad port at that.
