hi, nice video. Why people do sub-d poligonal modelling in CAD?

It allows for easier creation of complex shapes that are converted to BREPs by the software unlike a mesh program like Maya, 3Dstudio etc where mesh is the goal, not BREP.

Why used Fusion to make a car and not 3D Max.

Fusion 360 is very accessible and much cheaper. Students get it free. Full price to get these tools is very low compared to any other CAD system. Other sub-d modeling software will have greater controls but Fusion is very easy to learn and again price.

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Students get the ENTIRE AutoDesk catalog for free. Just saying ;) It is nice to see such a tutorial for Fusion 360.

@@seanbrittain4542 I am not sure if that is true or not. It used to be that some software was not available for students and there are slightly different versions. Back when I was a student there were a handful of programs that were professional only. Either way it doesn't change the fact that Fusion is very affordable. The forms tools are available in the student, hobby and commercial license without restrictions.

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Nope, still true. My son is in college and has access to the entire catalog while in school. I had him download and install Alias Studio recently ;) No, not knocking on Fusion, it's a GREAT program just pointing out what's available from AutoDesk.

@@seanbrittain4542 100% agree. If you want to model a car then Alias Auto is the tool for it. I model cars with Fusion, and Blender and have with Inventor, Solidworks etc. There are right tools for every job :)

when using Edit Form if you hold down the ALT key when either translating or scaling an edge it will extrude it. It will remain smooth (curvature continuous). If you hold down ALT + CTRL(or command if you are on a mac), then it will extrude it with a crease. The crease is the selected edge which means instead of being smooth (curvature continuous) it will not just have a contact (G0 continuity) with no additional surface control other than it's position. You can also use the CREASE and UNCREASE tools in the modify tool menu to add or remove them. Creases are generally avoided on a final design unless you need to add a fillet after the tspline body is converted to a BREP, but they are good place holders or work well for things like the lip on a fender.
