    Shane, this video saved me from implementing BLE pass-through in my BeatBiker app so folks could use it to Zwift with music workouts. Basically the intensity of the music controls the trainer resistance, if that makes sense. Anyhow, I really wanted to support the the trainers that don't already do multi-connect and I think the Ant+BLE approach you describe will do quite nicely. I'll be linking your video in the instructions, if that's OK.
    Thanks! James.

    This is very good information since staying disciplined towards a sessions training goal is sooo hard on Zwift :) If your a group leader this is gold since all your attention can go to communication&observation towards keeping the group together.

    I use Fulgaz with TrainerRoad in a free ride workout. This gives some variety to workouts and allows a bit of an outside ride feel. I use a Wahoo kickr and am looking forward to adding a kickr climb when they are released. All much needed as winter is deep and long where I live. I have also used Zwift with TrainerRoad in free ride. This way I can mix some varied rides on my endurance days and also tap into TrainerRoads awesome selection of structured workouts and plans.

    Wahoo method of setting wattage seems superior (on Elemnts and Wahoo Fitness App) as you are able to change power by 1W, 10W and 100W in any given moment. Tacx apps are not to shabby though. I used them couple of times during Zwift off-season and they did their job (especially Tacx Cycling App for tablet is quite cool). Too bad heart rate controlling mode works so slowly. If they'll fine tune it it could be viable option for recovery or low intensity workouts.

  • @GM-vk8jw

    Garmin now own Tacx but any rides done in Zwift using a Tacx Trainer or any other make for that matter no longer count towards Garmin Connect Challenge Badges because the data going into Garmin Connect is not from a Garmin device.
    However, if you use a Garmin Headset to collect the data your ride will count.
    My question is can you use a Garmin Headset whilst Zwifting and would the data match or would Zwift’s in game algorithms that cater for elevation etc mean metrics such as speed and distance be out of sync with your headset?
    If it is possible to do; it would mean Garmin Challenge Badges and Zwift progress can happen together.
    (It used to like this but Garmin closed the ‘software loophole’ that allowed it)

    Hey Lama... This question although not directly related to using multiple applications indoors is related. A few days ago I completed a ride ( still trying to beat some of your strava live times set on the paths running along the kwinana fwy here in Perth). I decided I'd run two apps on the iPhone at once - strava and wahoo fitness apps - both using the same biometric sensors, the iPhone providing speed and distance, a stagespower providing both power and cadence and a wahoo heart rate monitor. Interestingly enough once both rides were uploaded to strava the data was quite different for things such max power, speed and cadence ( all independent of the various apps auto pause function). Does strava in some way filter the data before uploading? I'm yet to do a three way comparison with the two apps on the iPhone and the data collected from the stages dash to determine which one is closer... But I thought I'd ask if you have noticed this yourself or can provide any further explanation. Thanks

    • @gplama
      @gplama  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe. I haven't used phone apps a lot in place of a dedicated head unit. The one ride I did comparing the iPhone Strava app to a head unit was over there in Perth actually. I believe the Strava App ignores the barometric sensor on the iPhone. The rest, in theory should be the same.... give or take a few % maybe for each doing their own thing with auto-pause (or even detecting movement to start recording), smoothing, etc. Short answer: no idea. :)

    Hi Shane, In the gradient mode does it feel like real 4%. It would be nice to ride the real gradient as opposed to a simulated gradient in Zwift. I ride a few of TACX RLV videos and the gradient does simulate the real thing (approx). As you say once you pay for Zwift you also want to get the bonuses within the game. So if I want to train a real 10km 7% incline in Zwift we could use these settings. Cool ;-)

    • @gplama
      @gplama  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing really 'feels' like a hill. There's no momentum, no balance, no acceleration, decelerations, all things that make hills... well, hills. The Climb helps for sure. There's resistance, yep. It's good training, sure. As for the specifics of 10% being 10%.... I'm not sold. I need more data.

      I've done a video on exactly what ERG mode is. As for when it's best to use it - that's a can of worms and something a good coach can answer based on your training history, goals, etc. That can be expensive advice, but it will be better than free comments from people who haven't reviewed your specific goals/details/adaptation history/etc.

Given that Zwift can control all the smart trainers on the market I wonder if there's either a standard protocol between them or Zwift recognises the requirements of each brand?
