- In this episode "Life in the Italian Alps", a windstorm swept across Northern Italy, and we must face the cold nights in the Alps. The cabin where we’re camped still has many drafts, and during the brief hours of sunlight, we work to improve our comfort. Firewood is our top priority, along with sealing the large gaps around the entrance door and restoring the valley-facing window just enough to make it functional. We’ve embraced a slower, more peaceful lifestyle, where the rhythm of our days is set by the sounds of nature. Framed by the towering Alpine peaks, this is all that truly matters.

Nella nostra baita in legno fuori rete in Colorado, uso una cisterna da 200 galloni per tenere l'acqua. Da lì un filtro in linea, poi una pompa dell'acqua Shurflow 12v in stile RV a richiesta e infine un scaldabagno a propano Eccotemp L5. Tengo sempre un scaldabagno, un filtro e una pompa extra come riserva. La nostra acqua proviene da un ruscello. Siamo a 9.200 piedi di altezza. Buon Natale. Steve

🤠 CONNECTING THE TWO ROOMS Is it even possible to dig your hill out a bit, using the dirt to near level of your entrance doors, construct a small "lean- to" room as an type of "U " hallway? And entrance. Might be an option on the distant future, but you may want to consider before you complete the roof in case you want to extend the roof beams
🤠 SOLAR TREE. to monitor winds for a bit of time, ribbons on the underside, with a trail camera , give you a good idea how the air currents flow. ALEX. with your sketching talent, maybe for next Christmas, you can photo copy coloring books for your family, and photograph calander pictures

il gas lo porteremo con una bombola, l'impianto sarà molto piccolo quindi all'inizio per piccole quantità di acqua, ma andrà bene. Quando avremo abbastanza energia elettrica useremo un boiler 🙂🙏 auguri ancora Gianmarco! A presto!

🤠 WOOD BURNER COOKING. a trick I have used for a slow cook, is place a grill rack between the stove plate, and the pan, also keep your eyes on the look out for a quality enameled covered cast iron Dutch oven, I've also place a grill rack, under the Dutch oven and a domed lid on top, to give it more of a " bake" Your little room is really looking cozy and inviting, be fun to see how it develops once you can get your roof repaired, urge take your time, so you're not pressured by lack of money to compromise your goal
