I have a recommendation for a future Pokémon challenge. Can you beat the game using a team of only one Hitmonchan and only using the elemental punches in battle? I know that there is a way with the universal Pokémon randomizer to have your starting Pokémon arrive holding a TM so that way you could do the entire run only using the punches.

@@matthewroberts5891 Yeah, but between Snorlax incredible HP and Tyrogue more than bad stats and lack of an actual fighting tipe move I doubt it would have taken Snorlax down before Snorlax flattened it with Body Slam
It could've been worst, he could have done this challenge in HGSS where ghost types have levitate and are in consequence immune to all his attacks except thief XD
Now that you've surpassed 10 years, how about mixing things up and take the Dome Fossil for once :) I will accept it even if it's not available in this one.

I would really like to see some heart gold/soul silver challanges. It may be interesting to see how diffrent pokemons that works in gen 2 may work in gen 4
On our way through, I battled Youngster Joey. I knew if I didn’t say what I did you’d all ask. Actually now that I think about it everyone ask anyway. Comments are good for the TH-cam algorithm.
I saw curse on the available move list and thought "damn, this might actually be possible". Unfortunately you didn't try out curse versus Red, so I decided to do so myself. Unfortunately though just curse wasn't enough, as you can't set it up against pikachu (charm) nor espeon (psychic kills you too fast), however then I saw double team was also available. This makes the fight rather easy. I set (using PKHex) all my DV's (IV's in gen 1/2) to 0 to ensure it is representative, then came in with the moveset return/rest/curse/double team. Use 3 PP ups on curse so that it has 16 PP (in case you get unlucky with charm hits). Then start setting up double teams, using rest if your HP gets low or you get paralyzed. Then spam curse until you're max attack, use rest to ensure you're full HP (though with equipped leftovers you already might be) and simply sweep through with return, everything is a oneshot at +6 attack.
@@dre5586 Huh interesting question. Originally I did it at lvl 100, but I just tried at lvl 80 and it still worked, oneshotting everything but snorlax which doesn't really pose a threat anyway. As it's a luck-based strategy you can probably go even lower levels, but at lvl 80 I tyrogue can already die to 2 thunders so it's prob best to not go much lower.

i still feel like rock smash would've helped, neutral against forretress and aerodactyl, plus the 50% chance of a defence drop is nice. plus maybe lance would've been easier holding a przcureberry. but dang dude this was a tough one, you did good

You inspired me to do these pokemon solo challenges and I figured I'd take a crack at them, and so far the most challenging of mine was using a smeargle on Soul Silver. I never completed it due to outside circumstances. but my vote for a challenge solo challenge would be a smeargle!

One of these days, you should truly solo Pokemon emerald with a mudkip. It is possible to do. Rules: no items in battle, no glitches or exploits, no other Pokemon only mudkip. You have to use a Magikarp for tate and Liza because doubles. Mudkip can learn all necessary hms for emerald and in an order that is usable for a solo run.
Awesome job as always. The Challenges always sweeten my weekend. I'll suggest doing Gen 3/4 with a Rhyhorn as well, mainly 'cause it's my favorite Pokémon, but I also think it will be quite challenging with it's terrible speed and low special defense.
I want to suggest: "Can you beat Pokemon Platinum with only one Kricketot?". This might also be a brutal one so take your time with it MDB (if you take this challenge at all). Thx for all the nice and entertaining vids you did/do throughout the years. You are awesome man.

They have. I think it was a mudkip run where at one point they got distracted talking to chat and it evolved so they reset it to the last save point.

Probably Hitmonlee most of the time. Before the E4 the Tyrogue had a higher Attack stat.

I'm been struggling with falling asleep as long as I can remember. These pokemon challenge run videos help me fall asleep for some weird reason.
